This is one of the most beautiful dark brown leather shoes that I ever seen! thank you for share your passion about the world of quality, craftmanship, and tradition.
When working on the carrier flight deck every now and then we needed to put a shine on our boots. Glossy Black spray paint worked fine. Thought that would be a funny fact.
Saphir cracks! No kidding! My can is in little chunks by the time I finish the can. BTW another method of getting wax out of the broguing is to gently insert a tip of a toothpick into the holes and gently move it around. Works like a charm.
I’ve been following the channel since those early shoe shine videos. That’s how I learned to shine my shoes! 2 questions for you: 1) The polish doesn’t damage the shoe laces if you get some on them? 2) You mentioned you shouldn’t use the renovateur on suede or Chromexcel. What about nubuck leather?
Kirby, superb respect for your videos and your contribution to making the bespoke process visible to a wider audience. But a couple of personal observations on the shoe "shine " or maintenance process. I find that the renovateur product (and I recognise the formula might have changed over the years) does have ingredients that tends to remove either dirts and excess waxes, so for me I would not use it on new shoes, and certainly would not use it as the "only product one would use". The clear nature of the product as well as the cleaning properties does mean that it will eventually leave a whiteish residue on the shoes if the only product used. Also, you mention that it does not penetrate the wax into the leather at 7.36 or so - but surely if you want the oils to nourish the leather this is what you want to happen - your analogy that the leather "drinks the stuff" seems opposite of the fact that it will not go past the wax - I imagine a little poetic license here!
Hi Kirby! I have a new pair of Allen Edmonds Carlyle in black and I have managed to get some kind of water spot or stain on the left shoe. It’s a nearly perfect circle , quarter size and is cloudy looking. Any suggestions for how to remedy this or if it is in fact water causing the problem. Love your channel and it’s been great to see it grow. Thanks Kirby
Hi mr Allison. Thank you for another great video. You made me look at snoes in a totally different way and now I’m hooked. Can I ask a question? Can one polish shoes too often? Is it possible that the leather gets clogged with cream and wax so it can’t breath and might even mould or rot?
Yes. Caking on conditioners and creams, at best it just does nothing, at worst you can start to damage the finish of your shoes in some cases (crust leather, etc.) depending on the product you use. And you're also just wasting time and money. If you want to give lots of attention to your shoes, the honestly best thing to do is to use rather little of the relevant products, but use them frequently, for instance every 5-10 wears.
If it's more of a slight mark than an actual dent you should be fine just applying wax again like you would for a quick maintenance. But every month or so if you wear them regularly you should use a cleaning / renovating lotion to wipe the show down and start the process again to renourish the leather. Waw is just the finiqhing protective coat that gets you to a mirror shine with water and patience.
Watching the video as I am shining my semi-custom made John Lobb Burgundy Stockley shoes with Saphir Burgundy Medaille Dor Mirror Gloss shoe polish. I am channeling my inner "Kirby Allison"--RR.
I would recommend looking at some other brands Allan’s used to be spectacular but their quality has really fallen off since they changed hands a few years back. They have started to cheap out of many parts of their shoes and boots like the liner, heel stacks, vamp and stitching

Love the videos. You've helped my shoe shine game hit a new level.
I just love the passion you have for shoes, Kirby. I was just wondering the other day when you might produce another shoeshine video. Thank you.
Nice to see Kirby adding a little “color” to his shoe wardrobe 😂

Thanks for your service!
Fabulous shoes, magnificent shine.

Nice shoes, great shine.

Absolutely beautiful shoes and fantastic shine. Looks like you have lost a good bit of weight in the face and neck also. Hoping all still fits well.

Important question: if a shoe gets scuffed after doing all of this, you just repeat the process or should you remove the old finishes first?

I have two pairs of Allen Edmonds shoes. That's about as good as it's going to get for me.

Whatver you are going through isnt worth being sad...put your chin up..dont let it eat you up...All things work for the good of those who love Him...
Who love you? Are u talking about the lord?
Would love to see a debate between Jason Fitzpatrick and Kirby about polishing new shoes.
Kirby, I was always taught that the laces should be removed, when polishing one's shoes ?
He's stated in other vids that adding and removing the laces is high stress on the shoes
Good job on your weight cut.
Kirby, did you get a matching belt with your bespoken shoes? You typically wear braces with your suits.
I bought dubbin wax, is it ok to use on my dress shoes? And will I be able to get a good shine from it?
How do you remove the pigment from cream polish, for restoration?
Did you condition, polish and wax over the laces? I know it’s not great to remove the laces often, but just curious on the first shine.
If you are doing a deep clean like once or twice a year. You remove the laces.
Thank you! I appreciate your reply. Very helpful
Hi Kirby, nice pair of shoes! You are looking extra trim in this video; are you working out or dieting?
I use boot black polish i find it better
Thank you Kirby🔦🔦 serious thanks from the coal 0:43 0:46 😮❤ mines of western Kentucky !!! We are dumb and poor here! We love your shoe polishing
Hi Kirby, I can tell you have lost a lot of weight. Is everything okay?
He's healthy
That's bad in America?
😂
He's probably fine
A bit presumptuous of you.

I’m suddenly having a bout with nausea 🤢
You can't shine them?
The key word is wrong.
