Check out Baldur's Gate 3 on PC now! bit.ly/PunishedProps_BaldursGate3 Britt here--I think I'm going to roll a Halfling Bard. That way I have sneak, Dex and buffs with any party. Here name will be Toots. :D
It's really priceless watching people make things in detail. Like the "folded over tape handle". That's something I must have done 20 times in my life for different purposes and I don't think I've ever seen anyone else do it. Now I know I'm not the only one!
Oh I love it! After you put it together, but before you got to the modpodge, I was typing a whole, "you could put lights in there and use magnets to close the 'lid'!" and of course, I should have known you had this already planned.
Just bought a 36" X 60" roll of 1.5mm foam from Michael's on clearance for TWO DOLLARS! This might be a good project to use it on! Great video as usual, you guys! Love the way you two complement and encourage each other! We need more of this behavior, in this time we are living in!
It’s genuinely a real treat when your videos come out, you’re both extremely engaging and I love everything you do and share it for us to watch and learn, I was recently watching another creator Wylocks Armoury and he’s made all the Baulder’s Gate town and landmarks for D & D, it’s fantastic what he’s built, and worth having a look if you both love that kinda stuff.
Very cool! I was afraid with your new direction we wouldn't be seeing any more old fashioned foam builds anymore. Glad to see something new in foam. Definitely a thing I can add to my nerd stuff to amuse my gamer friends. Thanks, guys!!!
I've gotten absolutely hooked on Baldur's Gate 3, and Shadowheart is probably my favorite companion so far, so this? Right up my alley It looks SO good
To anyone wanting to 3d model and print this, Blender has an icosphere in the extra objects add on. The add on comes free with Blender, just enable it in the preferences tab.
I'm not good with Blender, but I could see beveling the edges to not only create the sunken faces where the runes are cut, but also make the edges of the faces stand out and create the glowing spaces between them.
I just got to play my brother's copy(?) of BG3 the other day for a couple hours, so now I kinda know what this build is about (though you do a great job explaining it). LOVING seeing you two working together in front of the camera again! And Britt's intro caught me in the nostalgic feels. ❤
This is awesome! I also have a CD folio full of Baldur's Gate discs so I'm really looking forward to diving into the full version of BG3 this weekend. This video was a fun surprise while I wait for the game to download. I loved the texture on the final prop!
This looks incredibly cool. The metal came out great and subtle glow is really neat. Also I can very much relate to Brit’s unknowingly poor character creation choices. I recently started playing DnD and for my first character, a warlock necromancer (who I still love very much), I entirely picked cantrips based off what had the coolest name. He still has mage hand and eldritch blast, but other than that his cantrips aren’t the most practical lol
Was thinking for a V2 that this probably could've been made as two rough "halves" that magnet together instead of just one face, or even a 15 face "body" and a 5 face "cap". It would allow better/easier application of the LEDs and serviceability. I know the single panel approach would result in an overall stronger assembly but unless you're going to throw the thing at someone I can't imagine the structural loss being too bad. Great build as always though, keep up the great work.
Britt your still alive😉😁...hope you guys are doin' OK, we miss the weekly vids here & need more influence to make & learn new stuff, Im sure you have plenty on your plate ATM , but keep the vids coming.
Holy moly, definitely getting that Bevall cutter. One of the reasons I just use my laser cutter is cause of some pretty gnarly hand pain I get trying to do angled or consistent cuts like that.
Tirned out great, I was thinking it was going to be a paint trying to color and then cut the edges out for the potential glowy parts. Never stopped to think you could just make opaque panels. Question: Have any thoughts on using "melted" polystyrene in a craft project? I have a bunch of Styrofoam boxes from shipped food items and I noticed after breaking it down with a solvent (most people use acetone, but I used D-lemonine for the nice citric scent) it can harden into an almost clear resin like material if you give it some time. Seems good as a glue but, I have so much of it I was wondering if I could make something more substantial with it on its own, but I'm not quite sure what kind of strength is has. Have you had any experience with it?
I started the game yesterday night, (not a dnd player but following it so I don;t know the ins and outs as well) saw the artefact on the cleric and thought ... hm ...a d20 in the game ... cool cameo, later to find out the deep lore behind it on youtube and its real crazy and mysterious :)) ... As a pro 3d artist ... I'm modeling it right now to print, Love how it looks and I want it on my desk :))
could use a 3D model and then make silicon molds for both outside and inside to create one that can have small magnets on one side with an access hatch to get to the inside to have lights inside
Just a few observations about the laser cutter. I have a LOT of experience cutting EVA foam with a laser cutter. EVA cuts best and sharpest with very low power levels, and speeds as fast as you can to get the cut depth you need. A good rule of thumb is that materials have a power level where they cut best, and in order to cut deeper you cut slower (or twice). Do test grids to determine best material settings more scientifically. That said, first you have some things that need attention: 0) Safety first. EVA is the grey area for things you should cut. It's not carcinogenic, but you don't want to be breathing the fumes. I'd wear those masks of yours while cutting and for a few minutes after the cut. Also keep the lid shut and let it evacuate fully before opening. 1) Your laser cutter appears to be out of focus. Focal adjustment looks to be easy on your machine, you just need set it correctly and to make a calibration block so you can change it easily when you change material thicknesses. 2) The lens is very dirty. Lenses should be cleaned semi-regularly with IPA, but your lens may be too far gone. If you don't clean it regularly enough, residue builds up and then gets baked on. 3) Assuming your cutter it's something around 40w, an ideal cut speed for EVA should be much, much faster. Fix your other problems and things should get better here. 4) Bad mirror alignment can drastically reduce cutting ability. It's also a possible reason that you appear to need to cut somewhat slowly to cut all the way through the EVA. Fixing the lens and focus are much easier things to improve first, but don't rule out the potential need to realign everything. Love your work. It's nice to see you back making videos.
Thanks for the tips! The lens on my laser is worn out, I've been meaning to replace it for years, but it still does a good enough job for the work I do. Also, that's as fast as this laser can cut. 😂
Yeah! Nofx! :D I wasn't prepared at all for the Nofx talk in the middle of a prop making video, but as a fan of Nofx since the 90s, I can only approve! :D Bob! :D It's my job to keep punk rock elite! This music ain't your f****** industry!
Did you play Icewind Dale? It was kinda like a BG2.5, but less open. I think it was with D&D E3 rules, maybe? BG:TotSC was the best, didn't have as much fun with BG:SoA but I was busy and kinda burnt out when that was released, so perhaps that is more on me. From what I can see, BG3 is using E5 rules, and it looks very interesting! Saw a few demo playthroughs: very old school BYOA game. Kinda looks like a BD:SoA but with better graphics. :) Boo, the miniature giant space hamster! I miss D&D. Adulting stinks.
Bill, if you ever do a punk band, I'M THERE ;) (we have a weekly Sat night Punk Rock Night here in Indy. I had several friends who caught NOFX at a fest in Ohio last month)
Hmmm. Years ago I played Divinity OS II with friends and wanted to make a set of teleporter Pyramids. I never really did get a good way to do it, maybe I should take a crack at it again

Britt here--I think I'm going to roll a Halfling Bard. That way I have sneak, Dex and buffs with any party. Here name will be Toots. :D
I know three people would love this build, how much per unit with no lights? Look forward to the next video!
I really am enjoying seeing Bill and Britt take turns explaining techniques and making things together. Cool icosahedron thingy!
We have a lot of fun getting to take turns. =D
Great to see the both of you in front of the camera again ❤
Such a great match.
Thanks! We have a lot of fun together. =D

Great minds think alike. =D
Baldur's Gate 3 has some great character and prop design so far! the dragon born look like they would be fun to sculpt.
Britt started a new game last night and it's just a gorgeous game!

I've gotten absolutely hooked on Baldur's Gate 3, and Shadowheart is probably my favorite companion so far, so this? Right up my alley
It looks SO good

Oh that's perfect, thanks for sharing.

Really digging the return to an old-school style build.

I literally just had the thought: “oh punished props hasn’t put out anything in a while” checked RUclips and here we are! Another amazing build!
Hurray! =D
Love the NoFX in the video!! Every enjoyable
Rock on!
I love watching you two throughly enjoy what you do.

Ha! I bet that makes for some fun and interesting outcomes in your game.
What a cool project and great final result. It was to see you both together on camera, thanks!
Thanks so much!

E&K are the best!

We have a handful of small projects leading up to Dragon Con, so there's some good stuff to look forward to. =)
Love it! I'm getting very excited about BG3 too! Just started playing since the official release.
Thank you!
I think I saw an instagram ad for those foam angle cutting tools, and immediately thought of y'all ❤
Cool to see a new video. Btw Punk in Drublic best album ever
Holy cow, it's an incredible album.
I got to beta test the game so I’m pretty excited to see you guys doing a prop. Great project!
Thank you!
Amazing! I love it!
Thanks!
amazing job , thx for video👍
You're welcome!
That paint job reminds me of Halloween. It's been such a hot summer, I can't wait for fall!!
Let's get spooky! =D
You guys are AMAZING, I'm making Shadowheart cosplay and this is very helpfull. Thanks a lot for this
I always get excited when a new PP video shows up in my feed , PP is in my top ten best youtube channels ❤
Awe, thank you so much!
Love these vids!! You guys should make some Pirates of the Caribbean props!!
I’ve never played Baldur’s Gate, but I am a huge D&D nerd, so this just looks like a fancy d20
Really cool build!
Thank you!
That bevel cutter is pretty handy!
Came for the crafting, stayed for the shredding.
Yeah! Rock on!
Holy moly, definitely getting that Bevall cutter. One of the reasons I just use my laser cutter is cause of some pretty gnarly hand pain I get trying to do angled or consistent cuts like that.
It was a real pleasure to use.

7:47 “I have my respirator here” FLOP!! *throws it at the table and starts gluing* lol!!
I tend to do my explaining sans mask and then put it on for the bulk of the work. The ventilation and fan make a huge difference too.
@@punishedprops yea I notice you had it on after finishing your explanation. But at the moment I count it hilarious.
I love the E+K merch you guys are wearing!! ❤
Thank you! =D
Wyckedly awesome job well done looks fantastic
Thank you so much!
Thanks
Much appreciated!
my pleasure x
Yay for Guild Wars, still playing GW2 (excited for the new expac coming out)!
Oh yeah GW was a TON of fun!

22:30 …. Prop: “Hey! Where am I? Are you guys greys? Is that a probe??! Noooooo!!!!
You’ll be hearing from my lawyer…”
Brad is going to be barred from The Alliance of Magicians.
Ya mean Bill? If so, yes.
Great video!!
Thank you!
6:30 2 DAYS GLITTER FREE?!?!?! 🤯🥳🎉
Hearing the name Minsc And Boo and coming from MTG gave me some severe PTSD to any of the extended formats
Go for the eyes Boo!

I use baking paper between my foam to stop it sticking…🤷🏼♂️..it’s cheap and really easy and your welcome….👍🏻😂🤣🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
That's a really great tip, thanks for sharing. =D
Yeah! Nofx! :D

You guys are the coolest.
I’m thinking about doing a Nightsong cosplay, wish me luck 🤓
Well now I have NOFX stuck in my head thanks! :P
Any time!
Personally I might have added some sort of internal reflective surface, imagine a hidden mirror ball.
Ooh, that's an interesting idea.

I miss D&D. Adulting stinks.
I never played Icewind Dale. We miss getting together with pals and playing D&D too. Those were the best of times.
would using 2 access panels have made working with the electronics easier, or would it have weakened the structural integrity of it too much?
I think that could have worked. Great idea!
kids theses days don't know what it was like with cd cases..... or big boxed pc games.... ahh good times....
I don't even think any of my current PCs have a CD drive.
@@punishedprops Well the upside is you can always buy a USB one for 10 bucks if you ever want to reinstall without rebuying them.
Bill, if you ever do a punk band, I'M THERE ;) (we have a weekly Sat night Punk Rock Night here in Indy. I had several friends who caught NOFX at a fest in Ohio last month)

This is making me want to see you two make an Apple of Eden from the Assassin's Creed series.
Ooh, that's a really neat prop. My pal Ammnra did a great replica of that... *checks notes* 10 years ago! ruclips.net/video/GaWMq_G1Kbg/видео.html
How does that type of foam look under black light? If you could fill it with UV LEDs....
Ooh, I haven't tested that.
in hindsight, you could have hot glues and led with small wires on the inside of each part before gluing them all together?
That's a really terrific idea!
It's ALWAYS 60°!
instead of cutting out ONE triangle and struggling to jam stuff inside, why didn't you leave off the top 5 triangles and put the magnets in then?
That's a really great idea!
Is the laser cutter, called laslo?
Somehow our laser cutter never got a name.
It is called Laslo now!
BAT! 😂
Not to troll or any thing but if you had left a seam un glued you could have had a way to put in and remove a light...
Great idea!
is Britt that tall or Brad that short, is she standing on a prop box? is it camera magic?
Britt is tall :D
And Bill is just short of average?
Magnet thunk... catharsis
It's sooo good.
❤❤❤
Could you not have just glued the battery packs to the removable panel?
I think they would have then blocked the light from the symbol on that panel.
@@punishedprops ah right ye of course!
Bill are you short or is Britt just crazy tall?
Britt is tall
It is D20
It's *totally* a D20, isn't it? 😂
2 days glitter free? ;..)
Ha! It's *always* only 2 days glitter free. Hope you are well old buddy.
Oi Oi Oi !!!!!!
YEAHH! =D
Not even ONE magic trick in the outtakes? Pretty pleaaaase?
HA! I'll be honest, I did some card stuff off camera and it turns out I'm *way* out of practice.
:)
I wonder if Wolfram Maths ever commissioned their logo as a stress ball.......
