Living a minimalist life for 14 years, I've made amazing life changing purchases. I've also made bad purchases. Minimalism isn't just about being frugal and saving money. Our purchases can impact our lives for the better. Living minimally, and buying less gives us the opportunity to make mindful money choices when buying things that impact our life. These money saving tips include lessons I've learned about money, minimalism and living intentionally.

Minimalism isn't only about the things we don't buy. Our purchases can change our lives.

Very honest and vulnerable video… I have to say that 45 foot travel trailer was a pretty big mistake!😳😆 I live on the Northern California coast and see many thousands of tourists traveling in all sorts of rigs. Most are huge oversize things that people do not have the skills nor the confidence to navigate. Decades ago my ex-husband and I bought land and built a home ourselves from the ground up. It took us four years working full-time jobs to complete our home. This was a very large structure and a very complicated build and although it turned out beautiful and I loved it for 21 years it was far too large and far too much maintenance. During the four years building we lived on our 5 1/2 acres in a 27 foot travel trailer. Life was simple living in that trailer. There were no push outs no fancy anything. It was brand new, it was basic, and it was perfect. We raised a son (now an adult) in our beautiful home. I divorced and remarried about 20 years ago. I sold my home about a decade ago. My second husband and I now live in a home half the size on a postage stamp lot with no garage and running a tree service business here. The home is still too big! I see so many people continuing to build big homes adding on and wanting more. It makes no sense for so many reasons. Living tiny taught me more about living simply than anything else I’ve ever done in my life. Thank you for your channel… I am now a new subscriber.❤️

Listening to you, it occurred to me that my lifestyle growing up in the 40s and 50s was essentially minimalist, though it wasnt called that. My parents always bought quality over quantity, in everything, and our home had just what we needed. This was simply the norm for that time, at least here in Aotearoa/NZ, in the country. My Mum sewed our clothes and my parents grew much of our food on the farm. Our holidays were camping in wild places, at first with a tent, and then a caravan. I raised my kids like this I realise, but the age of consumerism has influenced them now that they are adults with their own families. And I have accumulated stuff without really realising it. I just thought it was interesting to realise that back in my young days, what we call minimalism now was fairly normal. I need to hark back to those times, and you are helping me do it, greatly.

Aren't mistakes necessary for living? Once we learned from them they are no longer faults. Just part of our lives. I liked this video, but then I like all of your videos.

depend if the mistake is necessary. like continuying to be cruel to animal for essential nutriment found elsewhere. then its not necessary cause they are not starving on an island

I love your honesty about the mistakes in choices on your minimalist journey. I also get upset with myself when I make bad financial choices and of course al.let instantly regret it, I personally have a hard time getting over it! I always enjoy your calm & peaceful spirit! You gave some great advice on making purchases after season & doing resaerch. Thank you for this video! 🌻

I really enjoyed this video and related to it! Connie, we came VERY close to buying an RV until we saw our dear friends sell theirs after only a few months. And I was hoping you'd mention your guitar, lol! I purchased one last year and finally have been learning (and bought 3 more, plus ukeleles). Playing my instruments has been so good for me, both meditative and stress relief. All purchases that I am happy to have made 🌷

It is interesting where we can find quality. It is not necessarily based on price but now I realize that if I now something will perform, I am glad to pay for it. I got a Patagonia jacket years ago half price but now that I am a hiker, I so appreciate its quality. Thank you for the video. Would you consider doing a morning or evening meditation video. You have a very soothing voice and your perspective on life is illuminating and comforting.

I would love it if you did a 15 min meditation for ptsd / grief. I lost a family member traumatically in October. I find your meditations extremely helpful. Some though feel too far away I have trouble relaxing into. The one for calm during difficult times is most helpful. Sometimes though I still have flashes about what happened. Anyways just wondered if this may resonate to be a service you can offer. I do your meditationsonce or twice a day for over a week now. It's been life saver when I was frozen most day with this recent wave hitting Me. Thank you so much for what you do

I just posted a Grief & Sadness mediation the day after you sent me this message. But, I only read it today (6 days later). You clearly inspired me from a distance to send you love and support to help heal from your loss. Here is the grief meditation link ruclips.net/video/6_F3zKkTWUA/видео.html.
