I just bought a ESC Stage 3 clutch kit. How would you except the Stage 3 to feel? As far as pedal?
I bought the car as well, with a aftermarket clutch, just like you. I just don’t know what stage. My mechanic will tell me once he takes it off.
I’m just wondering how the pedal would feel for stage 3?

Mine as a stage 4 is pretty soft I had a stage 2 in the car and felt the same to.

@@turbocraz1thank you for your input! And fast response. Did you use the same clutch line, and clutch slave bleeder? Or did you upgrade

@michaelrosario8249 I used a new oem throughout and a ecs clutch bleeder block and upgraded line, I believe ecs says u have to upgrade the bleeder block or take the restricted piece out of the oem bleeder block or clutch won't disengage property

@@turbocraz1oh okay. Mt mechanic is probably picking up a new clutch line at his work(works at a VW dealership), and using the new clutch slave I bought(oem). But I took off the yellow delay valve.
Thank you so much for replying. You made me excited for my purchase, and excited to have it on the road again.
Hope all is well with your R, and the clutch. Hope it’s still holding up!

I got mine installed yesterday (ECS stage 3)
First impressions of driving…bite point is low. I’ve read, that it’s common for new clutches to feel lower. Gets better over time, during-after break in period. And he also mentioned the same thing.
But it grabs right away, which I like. It’s either you finesse 1st gear, or you stall. That simple. Not much room for error haha.
I’ve stalled maybe 3-4x already due to relearning the bite point. My muscle memory has to change, not a big deal at all.
Pedal feel, almost stock, actually. Maybe, just maybe a bit stiffer. But it’s not bad at all.
I can tell by the way it grabs, you can definitely shift faster.
In my break in period, will report back during and after 👍 40miles so far & counting. Got a long way to go…

@@roymartinez25thanks! I hope it all goes well for you too. I did get another OEM clutch line, and my slave is new-OEM as well. ECS said it’s also good to get the bleeder block. I didn’t do that, I just another OEM but DID take off the “delay valve”. It’s a tiny yellow thing inside, take that off. If you’re not upgrading your slave to the ECS one.
      What else..
If you have a clutch stop/behind the pedal, you might want to adjust it. Meaning, taking off some layers. I was so astonished on how low the bite was. Then I realized…I have a clutch stop. It already lessened the travel. So when I would press is, it’s like an inch front when I let off. I removed some layers, and it seemed to have help the feeling that it was a lower bite point.
Just like he said, he had to bleed it a lot. Which I’ll be doing soon.
Oh, and as far as chatter, it’s there. But I’m coming from the previous owner putting in a Sachs clutch. So I was already used to it. I do hear it in neutral. When I press the clutch it goes away.
Crazy thing is, I had to turn down the music, open my windows in a parking lot, to hear it. Not loud at all. So when I’m actually on the road, I don’t hear/feel anything 🤷🏽‍♂️
Keep us posted on how yours turn out! Very curious to see how everyone’s experience is with it👍

How’s the drivability of this clutch compared to the old BFI stage 1 clutch i.e. Pedal pressure, ease of use in traffic, hill starts, grabby, etc?

    • @turbocraz1
      @turbocraz1  Год назад +2

Feels like the stage 1, pedal feels the about the same as stage 1 its smooth engagement from a stop its got alittle grab here and there, hill starts are smooth, overall a fantastic clutch kit.
