- Starting off this walk at Bay and Gerrard St and walking south towards Dundas St, making our way East through the Atrium On Bay, to Jarvis Street to grab some Sushi at J San Sushi Bar.

Busy day indeed! Reminds me that somewhere in Europe some city (Barcelona?) is saying to tourists: Stay home! Not sure these rumors are always true. But here's a side effect of tourism. Tourists drive up prices that residents have to pay for the necessities of life! I'm going to be interested to see if there's a breaking point for tourism. I mean, the services that tourists depend on are probably ok with jacking up their prices. But everywhere you go to "see the world" is a place where people reside. Now when I was in Toronto 20 years ago, I never pondered "are these everyday prices?" What tourist would? I was booked in a Holiday Inn hotel downtown. No resident would need such a room. Well, an unusual "point to ponder".

Was NOT a loony fantasy. Amsterdam, San Luis Obispo, Mallorca, and Barcelona are in rebellion against "overtourism" It is more complex than I thought. Some tourists go online and INSULT a place they visited. Tourists when onsite are not respectful, they are "entitled". And there is indeed a breakeven where costs of essentials rise without the residents receiving financial rewards to help them PAY those costs! I guess if every "hot spot" included a hefty fee in the Visa to offset the effect on residents. I'm sure some residents don't earn a good living. Some attractive spots don't have a high per capita GDP. When I see mobs in a tourist video, I just make a mental note "Don't go there".
