  • If you thought that the "One Life" episode where Karen Wolek shocked the courtroom with her testimony was the only episode most recognized and most watched back in March the 6th of 1979, then wait until you've seen this iconic episode from "The Guiding Light" which aired the day before. From what I understand, this episode may or may have not resurfaced here before. If it did, then here it is again… but in a studio master copy.
    COMING SOON:
    And I have more GL coming up and it's all from the 90s. Be ready to join me very soon for a detour and voyage down the Springfield memory lane. Stay tuned!

    I wasn't even alive when this aired, but in a nostalgic sense, it was difficult to watch and I'm glad that Guiding Light did such a wonderful job for not romanticizing the relationship between Roger and Holly. What GL did was groundbreaking showing marital r@p3 and brought awareness of it into the light (no pun intended) unlike the Luke and Laura mess on GH (which happened around the same time) that spawned a phenomenon, but that's a story all its own. Kudos to the late, great Michael Zaslow and Maureen Garrett for their powerful and frightening performances in this memorable episode. Glad you posted this, thanks for taking us on an amazing trip down Springfield memory lane! I have another super fun and interesting Sanchez/Caputo (S.A.U.) related question for you. Would you love to see/hear "Quest"'s Caroline Larson (the African-American niece of Bernadette and cousin of Heather) pass for white in nod to the groundbreaking Carla Gray storyline from the early days of OLTL?

    • @EdwynNSanchez
      @EdwynNSanchez  2 года назад +1

      I'm going to have to think about whether or not to add that scenario to our "Quest" bible, but I hope that I do get to decide to give it a green light because there is a slight chance that it can work sans the need to copy what OLTL did with Carla Gray.

      Thank you Terrell I'm glad that I'm not the only one calling it the Luke and Laura mess on GH. I don't know about you but soaps in general should all stay away from doing rape stories the young and the restless teased us by doing some stupid rape story involving Paul I think back in the 90s or early 2000s it was a did he or didn't he nonsense story but everytime I bring up the Luke and Laura rape thing GH fans in the comment board always come to his defense as for not getting the writing nomination its always the better shows that get disrespected guiding light as the world turns another world and search for tomorrow among the few soaps that I truly loved were the better ones but yet never got the true recognition that they all deserved now they are all gone and the four that are left although I do watch them sometimes they will never even have the class that those other soaps especially GL. and AW. Had never there storytelling was a home run. Thanks for your comment it's always good to know that I'm not the only one that thinks that rape is not romantic .

    • @JozarS.-ol4fj
      @JozarS.-ol4fj 7 месяцев назад +1

      That's right. And that's why GL has completely ditched their original core families (Bauer families) in favor of very overused Josh Lewis and Reva Shayne Lewis and family. And as a result, Y&R, GL's 'sister soap' and CBS stablemate, also completely ditched their two original core families (the wealthy Brooks family and the working-class Foster family) in favor of all rich families (Newman, Abbott, Winters, Chancellor) and even Victor and Nikki Newman. The fate of Y&R and GL would also be followed by OLTL in ditching the Lord family in exchange for Buchanan and Manning families and GH in ditching doctors and nurses in exchange for Quartermaine, Spencer, Cassadine families and the very mobster Corinthos family, Luke and Laura Spencer, and Sonny and Carly Corinthos. All unlike ATWT, B&B, AW, and DAYS which they all retain their original core families despite the passing from old generation to new generation.

      Oh yeah I was tuned into that back in the fall of 1978 october when he first raped Rita. It happened after the partial guiding light 1978 with Rita who met Ed in New York to surprise him. That is also on RUclips as well. Rita was the happiest I ever saw her.. When they returned Roger confronted Rita upset that Peggy left him over his involment with Rita during the Ranger trial. He was blaming Rita because he testified at the trial giving her an aliby.. He told Peggy he was once involved with Rita while dating her ..Roger visited Rita at her apartment whike Ed was out of town and he got upset when Rita told him he wasn't half the man Ed was. So he raped and roughed her up. Her bruises went away with make up days before Ed returned. Rita kept mum about it feeling nothing but shame and guilt. Rita never told Ed until the day before the verdict in Holly's trail was due in. Rita almost yelled it out at the trail but she she still said nothing. SHe just yelled out that he was a liar when he said that he and Rita were friends while on the stand. Hed had brought up testifying on Rita's behalf in the ranger trail. Although Rita went on to marry Ed in December slightly before Roger married Holly in late January Rita always felt if she had told Holly about what Roger did to her she would not have married him. So the guilt and shame is what destroyed her marriage to Ed. Rita went on to have a one nighter and became pregnant not knowing who the father was. The baby turned out to be Ed's but Rita lost the baby boy after being kidnapped by Roger who left her tied up as he eluded the police. Rita trying to escape accidentally kicked over a lantern causing the cabin to catch a blaze. They saved Rita just in time but it was to late for the baby. I always thought Rita would redeem herself with Ed by perhaps having another baby but she then foolishly got involved with the ruthless Alan Spaulding. Rita was just to restless and never appreciative of a great man like Ed the great Doctor Bauer.. She through it all away behind her insecurities ..
