Yep! And if was was prolonged, we'd get on our knees and adjust the horizontal control knob on the back of the set.

When Alan was looking at the keys, then reached into his pocket, I thought he was going to pull out a cellphone. It was an address book. OMG! my lines got blurred for a second. Lol

Lol. Whenever I watch something Pre- Cellphone or Pre Internet I play a game and look for all the situations where a Cell phone wouldve really made life much more easy for the characters lol. It would make a great drinking game too lol.

The complexities relating to Alan Spaulding are well exemplified by the Hope/Diane scene. No woman represented Alan's good side better than the beautiful, blonde Hope Bauer, and no woman represented Alan's dark side than the beautiful brunette Diane Ballard.

I agree. Ron Raines eventually became a great recast in the role. But No one could really "replace" Chris. He was one of a kind. He passed away way too soon. He couldve gone on to doing prime time film or anything. He was a true actor's actor not just a soap actor!
That also goes for Michael Zaslow, Mart Hulswit and Don Stewart .

Its from 1978 (not '79) because of the New Times Roman font credits and the stay tuned for MASH part

I had forgotten Tom Nielsen (Floyd) had been married to Lisa Brown (Nola) for nine years, until they divorced in the early 1990s. Apparently they met on the show. They had two children together. Brown has since remarried. Despite his being made up to be a bit scuzzy and having somewhat unruly hair, Nielsen was a good-looking guy, especially in profile.

It did...The date on this one has to be wrong. M*A*S*H aired after GL until 9/17/79, when it was replaced by "One Day at a Time". As staytunedfor said, "One Day" moved to 4:00 on 2/4/80, but it aired at 3:30 until then.
