I’m the original owner of a 91 GT convertible. About 10 years ago, I was unemployed and wanted to sell it. Lucky my wife said no way and my one son said he would kick my ass if I got rid of it! 2 against 1, glad I listened to them!
My first Mustang was an 87 LX 5.0 Stick, I bought it new at Val Strough Ford Lincoln Mercury in Seaside CA in April of 87. You are making me feel old!!
My Fox is an '87 LX 5.0 5spd less than 90,000 original miles and it was all stock when I got it. It sat for 24 years before I got ahold of it. Smog pump locked up, fuel tank rotted. I replaced the tank, pump, pulled the spark plugs and sprayed down the cylinders and turned it over by hand. Cleaned up the plugs, cap, and rotor. It fired up and was purring like a kitten in less than 15 minutes.
Now the foxbody guys cant talk 💩 about classic mustang guys that have restore them. They in the same boat now. I have both tho a 69 fastback stang and a 92 notchback
I was 9 year's old in 1987 and I remember when these cars was new sitting at the local ford dealer. That's probably why it so mind blowing. In our minds that wasn't really THAT long ago💁♂️
Damn Caleb thanks for reminding us how old some of us are. I go back to 82 and grew up with these car. I remember the day the last fox was built and the first sn95 came. lol great video
I have an 88 GT and the oil pressure gauge did the same exact thing that one is doing. I replaced the oil pressure sending unit with a Motorcraft one from LMR and it works perfect now. It’s in the middle. I would start there. Lol
Had one from ‘89 to 2009. Had 505rwhp in early ‘90s. Missed it so much lately I dug up my VHS and posted it up 😂. You guys that have them - enjoy!!!! Good times!!!!
I just bought my 88’ GT vert 3 months ago. (Dark shadow blue over titanium trim) Only has 118k. Garage kept, interior is damn clean, engine runs fine, no ticks, knocks, squeaks or rumbles. and i kid you not, NO RUST UNDERNEATH!!! Not on the torque boxes, floor pans, firewall, or shock towers! And it has the original 88 plug wires! The only mod it has is a flow master exhaust. I got LUCKY. 👊🏻💯
I'm another original owner. Filled out a build sheet at the dealership in January 1990. Picked my colors and options and had Ford make it for me. 54,000 miles now on my 'time machine'.
My early 79 Capri (built october 78) is approaching 46 years old...that's nearly half a century. I daily drove it until a head gasket failed, but I paid rock bottom for it. Honestly, if it had been maintained properly, it would still be fine. But US cars in Europe were usually very neglected before the internet era.
So right Caleb!! I myself feel like I'm in a bubble or time warp sometimes cause I forget how old our foxes are. I guess cause we grew up with them when they were new we think of them as being in that time, but it's 2024. I was watching a show one day and a mid forties married couple had a flashback to when they were in high school and the guy rolls up to pickup his then gf in his foxbody Mustang vert. It hit me then I was like wow a foxbody Mustang was is in a flashback! Not a "65 Mustang, but a late 80's Mustang was used in someones flashback. I was like damn I'm old, my foxbody Mustang is old.
Great video Caleb. It's funny how we live in this subconscious mindset where these cars stop aging at a certain point, we're all guilty of it. We look at them stuck in this permanent era in our minds, until you have like you said, a mind f*** moment haha.
My 87 had the original motor and trans. I've literally gone through everything and still have gremlins. In 87 I was playing with gi Joe's and micro machines.
After courier driving all day and going to the gym after I have very little time for my ""real cars". I try to look after my 91 GT and drive it even for a short bit once a week. If I can't (which is not often)I feel guilty ... tomorrow morning first thing! I promise!
It is different to consider how old these cars are compared to looking at a 65 mustang back in the 80s. 65 mustang was a primitive machine but a fox has fuel injection ac etc
Caleb brother this video hits home in so many ways. Super inspiring. Mine has been some kind of journey but I wouldn’t change it for anything. Keep up the great content and work. 💪🇺🇸❤️ hope to make FTO haven’t been since 2020 😢
I remember racing my ‘89 GT down at our local track when I was 23 yo. I was there with my hot girlfriend. There was this old 53 yo guy that night down there racing his Mustang. I remember thinking to myself, “Old man, go home. Your best days are over!”. I’m 53 now😂
my 90 is mostly original im still driving around with the original lower and upper radiator hoses...but i dont go far just around town and back lol...(more surpizing is the original r12 charge from the factory is cold as fk)...
I've replaced just about everything on my car except the weather stripping and wire harness. Man, I am not looking forward to re-doing the wiring. And I'm a guy who usually doesn't mind working on wiring!
I feel ya bro. I am currently restoring 3 fox cars. An 87 gt vert and 89 gt vert and an 87 gt ttop. I also have an 88 coupe but it’s getting stripped and scrapped because of the rot.
You know things are getting old when the 97 F150 that replaced that 92 LX 5.0 that got totaled now has Antique tags on it from 2 years ago. Damn I'm old, graduated high school in 84 in the prime of the 4 eyes.right before the Foxbody explosion.
The Fox body mustangs will never be old because it's the best factory race car ever built every track you go to most of the drag cars running is a Fox body time has flew by l have a 85 coupe l which l had the money to get it back running l have most of what I need just a little short of a few things lm going to keep on working to get her back on the road
🔔😎🇺🇲 We old timers call any maintenance situation a SNOWBALL. 😆 The rule of hotrodding is.... Carefully give it your best calculated money and time estimates. Then triple em. 👍 BTW I have a 90 HO T5 guts in my 63. 70k miles. It's a brand new underneath. I can drive it anywhere, anytime. I'll take crank windows and a stick shift over anything new😁
Big difference between worn and aged . I can take a 87 with 10 k it will steel look new ,mecanical parts dosen't have age ,millage and weather will act on Paint rubber ,seals tissu leather, ect..
Awesome video.thanks 4 what you do for us foxbody guys (FORD GUYS)💪.how much is your hoodies I like to buy one for myself and my son loves your channel he's 18 he loves foxbody mustangs.

Time flies, it’s crazy how old they are. Looking forward to the convertible content.

I’ve got a 37 year old FoxBody coupe at home and a box full of receipts! 🦊
Oil pressure gauge is either broke or the sending unit is bad. Engine wasn't ticking from lack of oil pressure.
