    I broke the stock controller while messing with the STM32 SOC. So now I'm replacing it with a generic controller that has more options. Really wanted to get this bike back on the road.

    it's actually not useless to add that capacity for one reason, it's much quicker with more charge! I ride a z around san francisco and while my bike can easily make a trip from one side of the hilly city to the next, it can get a little slow on hills by the end of it, so I charge it at work just to keep it peppy. I would love more capacity for that reason alone.

    Great video, most of it is above my head. My battery or more likely the controller is bad, need more info than this video provided to swap out. I do not think I have the skills to perform this type of repair anyways but don't know what to do. Super73 said order an entire seat assembly but that they are sold out

    Dude... Luna has the BBSHD and for a few duckies more, you can get the ludicrous mode, it is a Bafang 1500 mid drive with 52 volt and 50 amps continuous and 80 amp peak, a shift sensor and a 21 amp hour package will give your machine a 50+ MPH and become a hill climbing machine. It has a cassette in the rear, giving you great speed and torque options for the mid drive and components I believe it is about 700 and the ludicrous mod will cost you an extra 250 dollars and bump you up too 2500 watts. You can enjoy over 300nm of torque... the g force is addicting!

    Any update on the "extra" higo" connector? I've sourced an LCD controller display that's commonly paired with the same model number controller in the z1, so I'm hoping it's possible to connect it to the extra 5 pin higo connector.

    Im new to e bikes and want to get a Mario ebike shipped to Australia. Can you explain what a Grin phase runner can do for the bike. Its a 1000watt 52V. Can the phase runner be programmed to boost output/go faster?

    • @JuliansRandomProject
      @JuliansRandomProject  5 лет назад

      Looks like the "phaserunner" is a motor controller and it's very configurable so I'd say "yes, it can be programmed to go "faster". Pair it with a good motor and throttle, bolt that stuff to your bike (or buy a bike already equipped) and you'll be right as rain.

    I want one but the battery life worries me. I'm 230 lbs and from embarcadero Bart station up over the hills and to the other side of SF like around ocean beach I don't think it'll have enough to get back over SF to get home. So I was gonna go with the city scrambler cause it has a 19.2 amp hour battery instead but I like the super 73 looks and simplicity more

      I'm about the same weight and this bike doesn't work well with the weight. I Added gears which was really helpful but 2 weeks later my battery died, or maybe the controller but super73 is very unhelpful releasing any info regarding a fix, they just want to sell you a knew one. Here's the catch, all sold out.

    I've had my bike for 1 month, approx 25miles, the battery button remained actived over night. I charged the battery for 12 hrs, the battery button lights up and only the red light [on indicator near throttle] comes on. The motor does not activate. Any troubleshooting tips?

    • @JuliansRandomProject
      @JuliansRandomProject  5 лет назад +2

      Try charging longer and every 10 minutes unplug/turn off button and then plug/turn on again. If that doesn't work you may have dropped below what the BMS is willing to charge up from. In this case, open up the pack and manually charge the pack for 10 minutes and normal charging should be able to resume via the provided port. Openign the seat and blue battery pack should be a last resort. Godspeed. p.s. If you're in the bay area, hit me up on Instagram, could make for a good video, reviving your bike.

    • @JuliansRandomProject
      @JuliansRandomProject  4 года назад +1

      If you're going to swap and not add, you'd just solder the thinner wires from the charging plug to the new battery or new battery BMS. Good luck! Let us know how it goes, maybe post a video

    • @JuliansRandomProject
      @JuliansRandomProject  4 года назад +1

      @@wreckitralph2037 for 36v, the charger that came with your bike will work. the charging 'port' (female barrel plug) goes to the BMS stock. You'll want to connect that to the new battery somehow. If you are using the same chemistry you might get away with wiring the stock with your new one in parallel.

    Could you not put a new chip on the existing controller? (Although new one has some nice features)

    • @JuliansRandomProject
      @JuliansRandomProject  5 лет назад +1

      Could easily solder on a new STM32 but it would lack the firmware flashed at the ebike factory. Ideally one would dump the firmware, or get a copy of generic fw and then flash it back if needed. I failed to successfully dump it so went down this route as a result. One risk with using fw not intended for my controller, even if the SOC part is identical is that one manufacture may use an output to drive a break light and the other uses the same signal to drive a motor. Controllers are cheap, best to just swap at this point.

    Never see these bikes last long. Just going uphill is a struggle after a bit of time. For the price of the bikes plus modification and maintaining, might as well buy an old small 100-125cc motorcycle and turn it into a cool cafe racer.

    Yeah cost reduction, no name battery, no name motors, no name controller, cheap tires( everybody else offering at least kenda's) no derailleur, no shifter, knowingly selling people $3,500 ebikea knowing that they have all kinds of manufactur defects.. and Limited padding in the seat. When it comes to cost reduction 73 is definitely class-leading.
