Thank you for acknowledging that this hotel is not wheelchair accessible. It's really useful information. I'm new to your channel and cruising, infact I'm embarking on my first cruise in September to Norway on Iona. As a Wheelchair user, it'll be the first time I've travelled on my own! Love your btw i love your channel. xx
Wow what a brilliant review. We stayed in this fabulous hotel for a night in April and thoroughly enjoyed it. Yes it was a bit noisy outside but it is a busy/lively area so expect it. It does die down though. You actually stayed in the same room as my daughter and BF the night before you 😂 the vid brought back a lot of happy memories of our stay and the great food and friendly service. The staff were sooooo chatty. We will be back. Fabulous hotel ❤
The room looked absolutely brilliant. Loved the wallpaper too. Looking at the room I thought the bathroom was going to be small but was pleasantly surprised at how big it was. Last time I was in Southampton I was visiting relatives who stay up in Shirley, I remember they took us for a meal in a place called The Square Balloon (probably not there anymore) was near the woolworths store in the centre of Southampton.
@TravelBlogJamie It is going back into double figures when I was last in Southampton. Was when Virgin use to have a direct train from Edinburgh to Southampton. Think the street was called Above Bar Street. I just remember there was a big Woolworths store just along the road.
thanks Jamie, that sounds like a really nice and comfortable place to stay. Shame about the so so breakfast with the cold beans and strange scrambled eggs tho :-( Im going to give this place a try myself when next cruising from Southampton..Hope all is good with you two..Terry
Thanks for another fantastic hotel review Jamie 😃 Oxford Street is an amazing part of Southampton to stay in, and the theme looks perfectly nautical! Thanks for sharing the children's menu too - that's so helpful (and often missed by others). Do you prebook the car parks or just arrive and pay for your planned duration stay?
Thank you. I've just reserved three nights in a few weeks time, but I hesitated a bit since it's quite expensive (much more than your 116 pounds), but I've decided to keep my reservation. Because I've read some reviews mentioning street noise - though that might be mostly in the summer, perhaps - I've been handed room 11 towards the rear.
Love your blog of the White Star Tavern. I’m staying in June but I’m now a bit conscious of getting my suitcase up the stairs lol. Also the noise nearby and I’m staying on a Saturday night. As I don’t know any hotels in Southampton any tips appreciated. Thanks 😊
There are so many hotels in Southampton I’ve reviewed on my channel. Staff at white star will help with luggage or anything large they’ll store for you downstairs. It’s a vibrant street so noise to be expected. If you’re worried about this, consider the holiday inn / Leonardo / harbour hotel / Ennios
@@TravelBlogJamie thanks I have just watched your review on Leonardo Royal and it seems to be a lot better now with a lot better reviews than when I last looked. I love the hairdryer test to lol. Thanks.
I keep finding more gems in Southampton! Let’s take a look at the latest - the White Star 🌟

You’re very welcome - I need to be better at recognising accessibility on my travels. Appreciate your support!
What a lovely place to stay, good to know!
It was great!

The ship details are soooo cool!
Really liked the look of this hotel never even seen it before all the times I’ve been to Southampton but definitely going to stay there 😊

Car park is a rock up job! Super easy and super cheap too ❤️❤️❤️
@@TravelBlogJamie oooh that's good to know! That's cheap parking and being so close to the terminal is a huge win!
@@MarinaAndJoeGo it’s a no brainer for us!
I have definitely taken you here for a drink before 😂 it looks so fab - maybe I should book a night alone
I loved all the lovely unique touches! Fan!

Yes, street noise particularly summer and weekends
Is there parking, probably a silly question. Looks pretty cosy. Big no no for us the scrambled eggs though. Thanks for sharing.🎉
Hi Sue - I did a section on parking options near the start with prices ❤️
Lovely voice as always. Quite right getting your hubby out of the way so you can pack ,that's what I do 😅

Funny 😆

It looks good. We'll give it a go, but I'm sure it will be a lot more expensive the night before embarkation day 🫡
The prices range greatly from night to night
