I am also very new to the hobby. Had a 36 gallon bow front for my kid for years and now I am just getting going with my first Cichlid community 90 gallon tank. If all goes as planned I will be adding a 125 this summer. Long story long your channel is fantastic informative and my go to for learning. Your channel cuts down the learning curve for new fish keepers ten fold. Thank you for your content and I will be a loyal follower. Not to mention I tell everyone who will listen about your channel.
I did have a question. I live in NW Indiana and work in Lansing, IL. I caught you and your Bros are from Chicago area. Can you recommend any good fish stores that have good selections. We have The Ark in NW Indiana which is hit and miss on selection.
@@marknestorovich1175 aquarium adventure usually has a good selection. Beyond the Reef is solid. SR Aquaristik is very unique. Chicago Discus is great spot for discus
Wow...super excited to see the major updates to fish room.. New tanks and plywood aquarium...All the best bro..I Hope the channel grows super fast as u guys are doing a lot of stuff...🎉❤
Love your channel! Very clean and the set up of your aquariums of your basement! It really gives me the excitement everytime you upload a new video. Since I own two of aquarium a 55 gallon and 10 gallon gives me the motivation and the passion for me on learning about fish keeping!! Keep the good work and I can't wait to see whats your next project turns out!! 😁👍🏽
Wow, this was an awesome update. Your fish are so healthy and beautiful. Anyone who is not subscribed is sure going to miss out. The plans are incredible. The fact that your taking on both at the same time is impressive. I, for one, am readily waiting for the next video. Love from Ontario
yes I was just gana comment that as a suggestion. I’ve been watching you for a while and always wanted you to do that considering the issue with the moving of the tank. Congrats! Can’t wait to see it
Awesome update... Those upgrades are going to be sweet. Not that you need my opinion... But one suggestion I would give is to put up some plastic drop cloth or tarp around the area you will be building the plywood aquarium to keep the dust from drifting everywhere. I'm still cleaning dust from my desk build a few years ago... Dust sucks 😂
Just a suggestion for the plywood aquarium. You should do everything for the aquarium as a DIY Anyways im stoke to can't wait. I'm very curious on how big the plywood aquarium is going to be .. can't wait.
Please please please if you get a 300 gallon get a fire eel!!! One of my all time favorites! I can’t personally have one but I love seeing videos of them online
Just an idea...hate doin water changes....if you have a drop ceiling its the perfect setup for an auto drip system tied to a wifi controlled sprinkler setup, its very easy to make auto siphon's to keep certain water levels if no drop ceiling hide it in some piping or something to that effect.
Troy, Wow buddy lots going on for you. Man a plywood aquarium I have never heard of that hmm interesting 🤔 can’t wait to see the progress of everything.
It’s not the temperature that’s preventing the crypts and sag from growing - it’s likely lack of nutrients and light. They definitely need root tabs. Both of those plants also take a while to establish, but once they do - they take over. I’ve kept both of those plants at 84 degrees with absolutely no issues.
Is that wall that creates the nook a load bearing wall? Are there posts inside of it? What is in front of it on the living area side? Could you cut your viewing window into the wall and perhaps have a side viewing window on the end facing the 150? You could still service it from the back. I’m sure you have seen them, but if you have not seen the videos from aquariumdomain , definitely check out his assortment of plywood builds. He incorporated an internal wetland filter in the last two. I’m excited to see your project!
BEAUTIFULL! Can you tell me the size of the aquarium tank where the astronotus and the Vieja are in cm? height width and length and glass thickness recomendation .thanks!
What's your opinion in adding pictus catfish to a south american cichlid tank? 1x electric blue acara 1x red spotted severum 4x keyhole cichlids 2x t-bar cichlids (not SA, I know) and 1x geophagus jurapari Would they be compatible? If not, what other bottom dwellers would you recommend? Thanks!
Do you like tanks with fine sand for geophagus or it’s better with corse sand ? I am currently doing the setup on my 100g 6ft and I did put fine sand, but people tell me to add a layer of coarse pool sand because it damages the filter and it’s harder to clean. Do you agree with that ? I have to say that I like better the look of fine sand ratchet than « coarse ». Sorry for my english
Tanks looking great! Love those gymnogeophagus
Thanks man! Kinda want to give them a bigger tank soon
I learned so much from these guys. From cleaning the tank, tank setup, background, water change, plants, buying online… and goes on….

Hell ya!! Plywood tank is gonna be awesome. How big are you going. Check out aquarium domain ! He just built a 4600 gallon plywood tank.
Can’t wait. He was a big influence on how I’m going to make it!

Wow! You should get some stingrays and arowanas for sure....
Yes 👏 Im about to do the same in my garage for my arowana. Im nervous as well 😂

I‘m excited to see what you are planning :) - I‘m planning a 2000gal myself for the end of 24. Looking forward to some great tips. Regards
Outstanding!!!! expect more vibrance to see......
YESSS PLEASE BREED THE RED SPOTTED SEVS! They're so hard to find
I just set up a 40 breeder planted Apisto tank. I also have a 75, 55,60breeder, 29, and two 10s, so as you can see, i also have MTS😂❤
If the plywood aquarium is big enough a monster south American fish tank would be awsome with a silver arowana, oscar, sevs, peacock bass
Finally a plywood lol
I will take a couple of the electric blue. I located in West Palm Beach Florida.

I’ve used a ton of root tabs and the light is very strong. It’s a combination.
@@CichlidBros definitely worth doing some water testing if you haven’t done so already. Roughly what’s your light schedule?
All your tanks look good. How is the saltwater coming along? They take a while to mature.

For your 90-180G tanks, which requires the least maintenance? I would assume the 90 based on size.

Where do you guys recommend to buy fish online? I’m looking for some Geo Tapajos and none of my local stores have them
Imperial tropicals usually has them
Clownfish are jumpy. Please put a lid on that tank.
Don’t get rid if f the shellies! Just put them in a bigger tank with other Tangs
Are you selling any of the blue acara? Im in the dundee area and would love to get some if possible!
Yep, I can part with a few! Email or DM us on instagram and we can go from there!
how often do you do water changes on the 180. i have a 180 that i’m looking to transform into a south american chiclid based tank with an fx6
