Once hawkers are allowed, it will take fews months to destroy the cleanliness you see now. Plastic bottels and leftovers will be seen everywhere. People will start spitting . Gov should give free training and certificate to hawkers who wished to sell there. Gov can provide free uniforms and teach them to clean and be hygenic. These hawkers should also take the responsibility of keeping the area clean, where they sell. Also visitors should be heavily fined if they violate the law.
It's always poor suffer because of such projects, that too this project was given priority over money required during COVID waves, i which common masses suffered the most. It's bad precedence for the government.

This project was part of the budget of UPA 2. And Country's budgets have different components & these are not inter mixed . It's not like the informal set up of managing a house - remove money set aside for one thing & then use it else where.

To all the people who blame this govt. for allocating funds during covid crisis should also acknowledge the fact that if a country with 7th largest land mass to the second highest population re-allocate funds which is less than 3 billion dollars to the immediate crisis wouldn't change anything significant. There was covid mismanagement at certain level for sure but it's not because of lack of fund instead because of improper execution. In my opinion, although it doesn't count much, this redevelopment project definitely deserves accolades.

@@aosaeanor yes, I certainly have visited the area. In fact, at one point I was visiting the area everyday because it was one best places to go in Delhi. I dont think anyone who have been there before would ever call it was a dump before. There are much worse neighbourhoods in Delhi that really need development. Perhaps the India gate area is more beautiful now with all the redevelopment compared. That still does not change the fact that it was one of the best areas in Delhi to begin with.

Hawkers should not be allowed to roam freely into the Central Vista or its adjoining gardens. It wouldn't be long that the entire place becomes full of trash as if no renovation ever happened. These people complaining never follow any hygienic or cleanliness and newspaper wrappers from peanuts and other things are thrown away. Govt. should create a special dedicated place for the hawkers in one place with all garbage disposal facilities instead of letting them roam free through the gardens.

Their notion of erasing the dark history means rewriting it. But instead we should embrace it, acknowledge it, so we can learn from it. Just like a fellow RUclipsr here said, the colonial past cannot be erased. Netaji's canopy was built by Britishers in 1936. Once hawkers are allowed, it will take fews months to destroy the cleanliness you see now. Plastic bottels and leftovers will be seen everywhere. People will start spitting .
Gov should give free training and certificate to hawkers who wished to sell there. Gov can provide free uniforms and teach them to clean and be hygenic. These hawkers should also take the responsibility of keeping the area clean, where they sell. Also visitors should be heavily fined if they violate the law.

This project was part of the budget of UPA 2. And Country's budgets have different components & these are not inter mixed . It's not like the informal set up of managing a house - remove money set aside for one thing & then use it else where.

To all the people who blame this govt. for allocating funds during covid crisis should also acknowledge the fact that if a country with 7th largest land mass to the second highest population re-allocate funds which is less than 3 billion dollars to the immediate crisis wouldn't change anything significant.
There was covid mismanagement at certain level for sure but it's not because of lack of fund instead because of improper execution.
In my opinion, although it doesn't count much, this redevelopment project definitely deserves accolades.
You must have heard of a russian king who arranged fairs and built things of entertainment at the time public was dying. Also, this is not just about money but the message. When central govt is not serious about sending the right message at the time of crisis and same party happens to rule most populated states at the same time, it becomes a large problem. Secondly, NGOs and Gurudwaras were the only organisations that actually helped people in that moment, look at what they did just after this. Revoked the licenses of the most NGOs just after the crisis was over. Neither do they want to help people in need nor they want others to grab the limelight. So, it is bigger than a problem of execution. It is a culture of apathy that is the basis of their basic ideology. If you want to correlate, What was RSS doing when most of India was in jails or dying in the freedom struggle? People were not important back than (only ideology and Akhand Hindu Rastra was), they are not today , they will not be tomorrow.

@@aosaeanor yes, I certainly have visited the area. In fact, at one point I was visiting the area everyday because it was one best places to go in Delhi. I dont think anyone who have been there before would ever call it was a dump before. There are much worse neighbourhoods in Delhi that really need development. Perhaps the India gate area is more beautiful now with all the redevelopment compared. That still does not change the fact that it was one of the best areas in Delhi to begin with.

Hawkers should not be allowed to roam freely into the Central Vista or its adjoining gardens. It wouldn't be long that the entire place becomes full of trash as if no renovation ever happened. These people complaining never follow any hygienic or cleanliness and newspaper wrappers from peanuts and other things are thrown away.
