@@dernz3428 yes you call a car shipping company and you find a good cheap one... don't know where you are at.. can cost you to ship it a grand up to 2 grand maybe more...

By the way, the noise you get taking off from a dead stop is your drive shaft center support. The bearing and the bushing have gone out and it's letting the drive shaft move up high enough to actually make contact with the underbody and you get that rotating kind of weird noise when you accelerate from a stop, it's pretty easy to fix though!
Randy you got a steal of a deal on this z3. I am a 1990 NA Miata owner and I would absolutely love to have a z3 over a Miata. I clicked on this video so fast that I didn’t recognize the $900 on the title but when you said $900 I was shocked beyond belief you got it for that. These things run up too $10k in todays market even high mileage and finished interiors. It being a bmw, the z3 is definitely a easier car too work on just like a Miata. You definitely got a steal and just for the maintenance I would recommend getting it on s lift and check for any leaks/broken or rusting spots. If it checks out you have a great and fun little car on your hands!
It's sad how content changed. Remeber times when you were really hard working on cars, and by working I mean something more, than washing, and after 17 miles of driving send it back to auction. I'd think this could easily bring 4-5k after some detailing and attention. That dent on the quarter near the gas door is the most time consuming thing but it can come out and be touched up. You're definitely in it for the right money, if someone gets this from IAA for under 1500 it has potential for enough to be worth the time still. Great video, as always! Copart must love making auction fees off you AND the next guy lol... would like to see some more repair videos though. The idea of being able to buy something from Copart, fix it up, and drive it is what drew me to your channel years ago. Really miss seeing that type of content as regularly as I used to.
Yep I'm sure copart I making more than he is. What does he do set the reserve to a few hundred more than he's into it so he makes at least 300 bucks? I would at least sell a few a year privately. The ones that would be most profitable. In Canada where I am, can sell up to 5 vehicles per year without needing a licence. A couple times I was already at my limit for the year but came across something I could make an easy $3500 on... bought it, fixed the couple small things and gave it a nice cleaning and sold it. Whole process was 3 days. I never even had it in my name, it was still in the name of the guy I bought from, which is called "curbsiding" (here when you buy a car privately, you pay taxes on the sale price or the wholesale value of the vehicle if the purchase price is below wholesale) when you transfer it to your name after purchase. The reason curbsiding is illegal is because the government didn't get their cut in the taxes they would have made. I've done it a few times and not lost any sleep over it lol. Like I said, they were deals I couldn't pass up and the chance of getting caught is pretty slim anyways. I love buying things especially when I already have a buyer lined up at a certain price, within a couple hours of me picking the item or car up I have my buyer on the way to pick up from me. Quick easy money. I do it alot with car audio equipment, it's been making a comeback in a big way the last 2 or 3 years so the profit is there. Over the winter (off season) I stockpile amplifiers and sometimes subs/boxes if it's a package deal etc or cheap price. Clean them up and wait until April/May and throw them all up on Marketplace. Very often I double and triple up on the stuff. 2 years ago I bought $1900 worth of stuff over winter and turned it into $5150 inside of 5 weeks. Started listing stuff last week of April and by end of May was all gone. Last year spent about $2600 and turned it into $7000 in about same time frame, 5 or 6 weeks.

I think you got a great car and will resale well. You have enough room to fix some things especially in the interior. The auction you are using just doesn't seem to be bringing in good prices for you. Is there another venue? Didn't you get a tool to regenerate batteries?
I agree with your fiancé. Personally, I’m more interested in watching you buy these cars for cheap and see if you make it home, then selling it. Kinda liked how you used to do it, like that pontiac aztek you got , I think the very first car purchased, those are definitely my favorite videos to watch
While doing profitable business, you’re also responsible for YOUR being HAPPY; sometimes…. It comes in the way of enjoying a cheap sports car for a little while.
If I still lived in Texas, I would be making an offer right now. I currently live in the Philippines. Cost me waaayyy more than the value of the car to ship it here and pay the taxes to import. Great find my friend.
Interesting fact, it's actually a 2.5 liter engine. The 2.5 liter and 2.8 liter were deemed too close together by BMW from a marketing standpoint so they badged the cars with a 2.5 liter engine with a 2.3 badge. The interiors don't hold up too well but everything else about these cars is excellent in terms of quality and durable engineering.
Just read a few more of the comments and I probably would have to say that I do agree with a few of the other reviewers about maybe two points: 1) missing seeing you working on the cars, getting them in a bit more tiptop shape before reselling them… Now here is where I think number two is going to be important though: 2) NOT sending them back through auction! Conversely, when you had Weird Beard to help you sell these cars, that was a really cool relationship! It was another individual with "quirks and features" (that made for great content for the channel on its own) who would help you get more $$$$ than auctions, kept things more personal and interesting, etc. It appears you must have had a falling out with him, because I realize I have not seen you selling cars through him for a while now :-( Of course, another option is for you to resell these... but then that becomes another channel; I think you working and getting them in nice shape and then having some sort of an interesting friend who may also have a channel or what have you who does the actual resales and maybe some other work you can't do. A "marriage made in heaven" type situation would be a Santa's Workshop also sold cars! REALLY nice guy, "salt of the earth," seems ethical and on the same page with you etc. (at least it seems that way on camera) and then he does some work that you can't (on bodies etc.) AND if he were also to have that license and could do the reselling (and deal with that hassle) again, it would be a kind of like a marriage made in heaven for your channel. Maybe you can have a talk with SW and/or TJ and see if either one of them could get a dealer's license (if they're interested) or direct you to somebody who could be your new "Weird Beard. Those are my three cents!
Get a BMW shift nob, that thing on there now is horrendous. I am amazed you go that for $900. In running condition, both windows working, and a soft top that will actually keep out rain! What a steal! I have the 98 M Roadster (just bigger motor) and its a joy to drive!
What a sweet deal! Great find. BTW your fiance is wise. Also, why sell at auction for something cute like this if you don't think it will bring much more than you paid? Seems like the used market today might get you a lot more $$. 1997 Z3s with about 150k miles are selling for about $7k on Autotrader.
That noise is probably a bad guibo disc or center shaft support bearing gone bad. I have owned several old BMWs with this issue. Good news is it's really easy and cheap to replace.

It's like fishing, catch & release!
Keep it coming Randy I love the BMW content I myself have a 2003 BMW X5 3.0 with 170,000 miles it was passed down from my dad and he has a 2010 so it’s nice to see you pick up cars like this
Great video, as always!
The 2001 version of the Z3 was a blast. My friend used it to parking lot race and it did awesome
If you make it home, you did fantastic! I've sold one in much worse shape for lots more money.
its amazing that you are filming this on my birthday also love that bmw z3
I Love BMW’s Man, Got Two Of Them A E30 & A E46, Four Volkswagens A ‘68 Corvette Big-Block Convertible.. I’d Be Careful With The “Sight Unseen’” Any Brand, But I’m Enjoying The Content On The German Vehicles, Please Do Continue With BMW, Mercedes Benz, Audi/Volkswagen, Thank You Randy!!
I really enjoy your vidios. I always have enjoyed learning about and educating myself about these auctions. I love it if you could sell on for us on a video. Ty
Hey Randy, didn’t you say this had a larger engine installed? If so it would have less than 200,000 miles on it. Great find enjoyed the blog! Thanks
From memory he said it had a bit of work done to the engine due to tuning sticker in engine bay
It has a tune... probably an ECU tune and that's it. The sticker is for the dealer, so they don't flash the ECU with an update and delete the tune
It has one of those tornado 🌪 doodads in the intake tube. Makes 65hp ! Was only 2 *easy* payments of $19.95 too! Hot damn 🔥 😍
I love BMW content Randy
I really enjoyed the video Randy, thanks !!
Great video randy love that hat!
Excellent Content Randy, Finally Showing The German Cars Some Love, The X5 & Now This.. Please, Keep Up The Good Work!!
randy, your channel's name has 'rebuild' in it.. please do something in your shop, get a project
I'll get to it when I get to it. Right now I'm finishing my new house which takes priority over what you want.
THese little cars are a blast to drive!
Jessica is wise. The car market is crazy right now so the fact you’re able to find these deals is awesome content in itself.
Could be the Center support bearing I have had 7 bmw including a z3 and they good cars just keep it in good health I think u should keep it
Check the differential rear support/bushings! Common probleme on z3s
I had one of these back in the day. Got it new and kept for 3 years. Same colors and everything. Loved it.
Sweet Daily For Ya Randy Great Deal Fam
When you wash it open the door and do the door jams as well If you can wash it wash it properly
I'm sure somebody's already told you but in case they have it I would say that's a CV axle shaft making that noise it probably had a rift boot which caused it to dry out and you need to replace it the Bering to dry okay thank you
14:16 Randy look! It's parallel universe you 😂
You got both the X5 and it’s little sister the X3 and I love the Bimmer content Randy ‼️
I like the BMW content to answer that question. I also think it would be cool to have one more video with you fixing the CV joint or whatever that is. ... And maybe sending it through the Autospa LLC!
Nice find Randy it's a nice car
6:08 the thing you found is a sound filter it filters out the sounds you don’t want like if the speakers are blown or if you don’t like the really loud tones or something
I have a 2013 -328I - 4cyl - it got 134 thousand on the clock , I wouldn’t take nothing for it it been a great car ,fully loaded by the way it’s a x drive
Randy are you okay with tornadoes? My prayers to all affected!
Love seeing the BMW content. I own a 2013 E70 X5 40d, a 2008 E83 X3 20d and a 1997 Z3 1.9. In the past I owned an E36 318, an E39 530i sport touring and a E53 X5 30i.
It would be a fun car to have that you could use on sunny days and be looking good as you did the repairs it needs.
I liked the Z3 wish you would have worked on the cv joint. Miss that part of the show.
Looks like a nice car for the money. But personally I am not a BMW guy always scared of what is going to break! But scratch that itch and have some fun!!
My uncle has been one of the top dealers at BMW here in London since the 80s and over the years has owned or extensively driven pretty much every BMW known to man. Now retired his chosen cars are in the garage are :- His old Triumph Dollermite Sprint which he had as a kid and a Z3..
Bmw and Mercedes a big Yes! It's your money and I love watching you risk but that's how it works. I watch n you get paid. Great job on videos. Your dedication is appreciated
3.5mm filter was for someone using a mp3 player/phone to the factory radio input. Some devices pickup electrical interference and that box eliminates or lessens it
The clutch, engine, fuel management and supercharger might be an upgrade. You might have a very fast Z3 Randy.
Diamond is a tuning company, that uses very specific parts.
where do see a supercharger lol!?
@@motaz1975 they supply those parts.
@@jean-marcandjoshua-petsjournal Its Dinan, not Diamond. If you owned a BMW you would know what the hell Dinan was. www.dinancars.com
@@ralphralphin LMAO!
I really don’t understand this channel anymore? All he does is buy crap at the auction, bring it home and then take it back to the auction.
Awesome find Randy, it's a beautiful car. One of my favorites for sure!
Yes ... score!
Yes very much always into BMW content ! more of it !
Randy that knocking while driving is the driveshaft center support bearing
TK is going to get that as soon as randy sends it back to auction
You're not kidding there, I hope he does, too. I kind-of like this one.
I got so much respect for Randy
Hey Randy, that noise you hear is most likely going to be your driveshaft. The driveshaft center support bearing might be shot
Z3 James Bond edition. 🏆👍🏾
Yes almost sounds like a CV axle, and the wheel speed sensor light came on , maybe that might need doing too .
Cool car, only thing is we never ear back on the price you got from them, wich is sad...The saturn, i was curious and wasn't able the see for how much it sold...Keep it up, i enjoy the vids!
My only concern would be the rubber cracked all around the top of the front strut mount. Otherwise, I'm a bit jealous, you found a steal!
I have a 1999 BMW Z3 2.8 with 60k miles. I really enjoy driving it. Good video, thanks.
While doing profitable business, you’re also responsible for YOUR being HAPPY; sometimes…. It comes in the way of enjoying a cheap sports car for a little while.
I like your video and I hope you have a merry Christmas you and your family Randy .
Glad to see the old girl have some new life breathed into her…thank you fellas! 😃🤙 owner 03 M roadster.
I LOVE the lil BMW U just got for 900! I got a 99 Mercedes SLK 230 a few yrs ago and love it too ! Fun lil cars .😀
Just read a few more of the comments and I probably would have to say that I do agree with a few of the other reviewers about maybe two points:
1) missing seeing you working on the cars, getting them in a bit more tiptop shape before reselling them… Now here is where I think number two is going to be important though:
2) NOT sending them back through auction! Conversely, when you had Weird Beard to help you sell these cars, that was a really cool relationship! It was another individual with "quirks and features" (that made for great content for the channel on its own) who would help you get more $$$$ than auctions, kept things more personal and interesting, etc.
It appears you must have had a falling out with him, because I realize I have not seen you selling cars through him for a while now :-(
Of course, another option is for you to resell these... but then that becomes another channel; I think you working and getting them in nice shape and then having some sort of an interesting friend who may also have a channel or what have you who does the actual resales and maybe some other work you can't do.
Good vid enjoy the flip content plus our long term rides
Love the BMW content Randy, go get the X3! :D
I agree
That Z3 needs a center support bearing, I have a e46 with that same issue right now. Damn I might buy that Z3 for 900.00 that's a great deal!!
Get a BMW shift nob, that thing on there now is horrendous.
I am amazed you go that for $900. In running condition, both windows working, and a soft top that will actually keep out rain!
What a steal! I have the 98 M Roadster (just bigger motor) and its a joy to drive!
Glad to see you pulled out all the skills on this one and gave it the full service rebuild in AARB fashion
Well, they are ASKING 7000.00. Who knows what they get?
The 2.3 Z3 is really a 2.5 displacement. Not sure why they tagged them that back then
Marketing. They wanted a bigger difference between the 2.5 and the 3.0 engines.
Harbor freight paintless dent repair tools for the dent in the MNW Z3
That noise is probably a bad guibo disc or center shaft support bearing gone bad. I have owned several old BMWs with this issue. Good news is it's really easy and cheap to replace.
I love the BMW content might even buy one for myself as a Toy!
