    Think I’ve watched almost every Adenium video out there, and even after 4yrs am struggling with mine. Have grown all 14 from seed, I’ve done everything that I’ve watched people do to get bigger stronger caudex and flowers and as of yet, never had a flower. In fact I’m surprised they are still alive, which they are, just not growing. I’m pretty sure it’s because I live in the UK, and the weather does not help matters.

    • @GardeningUpbeat

      Totally agree with you....it's the weather :-( Because of the same reason, here I can't grow Tulip..but you can easily and many other plants that need much colder climate. Even my place is not too ideal for Adenium but grow them as I love them. Rainfall in my place is quite high, not ideal for Adenium. In India, some other states are perfect!

    Sir is it not necessary to add soul and compost fertiliser to the soil mux? What is the organic alternative fertilisers we can use and how frequently we can use them?

    Thank you for such an informative video. I have been a subscriber for a long while now and have learnt so much. The potting mix that I use across my plants are mostly your suggestions. Whenever I want to get a new plant I first see if you have a video on that😃
    One question, can Basacote be used for other plants as well or is there any care that one needs to take before doing so?

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  Год назад +2

      Thank you So much for your encouraging words, truly appreciate it. Glad to hear I could do something :-)
      Sure, Basacote can be used for other plants without any issue at all. Usually, we get positive signs within 10-15 days after applying. 1 tsp for one 6-8 inch pot is fine and for smaller pot, less would be required. Nothing extra care needed..just make sure to cover the crystals with soil. Thank you!

    my adenium potting mix is 50% cocopeat and 50% sand. Throw in handful of neem powder, pumice stone or five husk and Vermicompost. And my adenium isn't growing fast. Is it the fancy NPK you spoke about? Or is the sun. I get sun till 12 pm. Or is it watering issue. I water when it does out. May be I should wait for 2-3 days. What do you think. I want ticket caudex fast. Recently I have started cutting off thicker roots so that it focuses on thickening it's caudex. My experiment is in progress with 5 small adenium currently.

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  Год назад +1

      Sunlight till 12 PM is fine..Adenium is a slow growing plant actually and if it's growing really very slow, there is some issue with the nutrients. Perhaps, you can try some other fertilizer. Like even NPK 19:19:19 or Seaweed Extract?

    Thanks for the post! I’ve been growing mine in just straight soil and it has gotten extremely leggy and only holds about 4 leaves at a time. When panther leave sprouts another one dies. Lol I’ll have to try to add the sand and other stuff! I’m so scared to prune it as it has not grown any branches!

      As a fairly experienced pot gardener myself, let me jump in and offer some advice. Remove the plant from the "straight soil", physically removing by hand every vestige of the present soil. Then go out and purchace some commercial cactus/succulent potting mix. I use Ferti.lome, but any NAME BRAND mix is good Avoid trying to save money here. Buy the name brand to be safe. You may add a small bit of additional perlite or sand to ensure good drainage. Repot it firmly in the new soil, then wait a couple of days. If you are in the spring, summer, or early fall, give it a good soaking ("soak and dry" technique). If not, just enough water to settle the new soil. Keep all the soil SLIGHTLY damp to dry until spring, watering very LIGHTLY along the way, enough to only keep the soil slightly damp, but NOT WET! About mid April (or a bit earlier, or the last cold weather i.e. lows in the 40's), begin the "soak and dry" method mentioned above. Hope this helps and good luck. Remember: Treat this plant like a cactus as far as watering is concerned and you'll avoid the dreaded ROOT ROT. Happy gardening! 🪴🌵 P.S. I enjoy giving advice, even though I'm far from an expert.

    How to save the plants in this heavy rainfall? All my summer plants have started dying

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  Год назад

      Could you please be more specific, like which plants? For Adenium, if you use the same potting soil mix, they won't die. I am from Guwahati (Assam too) and it's raining non-stop here too. All of my Adenium plants are on terrace. Few leaves turned yellow as rainfall is quite high..but, none of them are about to die at this time. Of course, not all plants prefer such heavy rainfall, that too for such long time. So, please let me know which plants you have so that I can suggest the remedies. Thank you!

      @@GardeningUpbeat I am from Tinsukia district of Assam and that's a major reason to follow your channel since the weather is almost same. Plants like portulaca, yellow alder, impression etc have died, and yes chrysanthemum is about to die... Adenium has shedded all its leaves and is not showing any symptom of growth.. I have kept all my pots under roof to protect from rain... But due to lack of sunlight they aren't growing & indeed dying. Kindly suggest remedies.

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  11 месяцев назад +1

      Glad to here you are from Assam too and thank you once again for having your trust on me. Portulaca and Yellow alder don't die too quickly..you need to add at least 25-30% sand while preparing the potting soil mix for them (Though Hybrid Portulaca, with larger flower, is not suitable for our environment). We need to add sand so that they can survive this continuous rainfall season. Impatiens is too tough to manage during the Summer in Assam. We can save them only by protecting from too much Sunlight and rainfall. Adenium would be surviving in shade..but would get leggy. If you use soil mix like me, you can easily keep them outside. Or else, you can also prepare an artificial umbrella for them as I have shown in this video - ruclips.net/video/xfahagUt8RA/видео.html
      It's shown at the end part of the video..Hope that helps. The same thing can be done for any plants if you have time. Good luck :-)

      May be in your place, that is the normal growth as environment plays a major role in plant's growth. But, here in my place, that's not their usual growth (too much rainfall here and very much humid area). Sorry, I disappointed you :-(
