There is hope! So glad y'all liked this. Part 2 is absolutely worth watching, but part 3 and the sequel can be skipped with nothing of value lost. Have a damn fine day.
"he'd like to be Robocop but he can't" had me laughing at 5:30 in the morning like a crazy person. Greatest commentary ever, you two are so goofy I feel stoned.
11:37 strangely, this scene almost sank the entire movie. They went through so many takes to get the scene. The rubber glove that Peter Weller wore with the Robocop costume was so thick and bouncy that the keys kept bouncing off his palm anytime the keys were thrown and he tried to catch them. The bounce of the keys on the palm and the thickness of the rubber of the fingers meant he couldn’t close his hand in time to catch the keys. Who knows why the scene was that important? The production company almost shut the movie down because they couldn’t get the scene right. Luckily, they managed to get it right once.
I always loved Robocop. I got the cold-shoulder from the family when I convinced everybody to watch robocop 2 in the theaters. Granted they were right but robocop 1 is the shit.
Heck yeah! Thoren did the V! I knew he couldn't resist forever, haha! So stoked that you reacted to this one. Starting it now, this just made my afternoon!
So the pacing was part of the reason why this got 5 stars from Thoren. I think another non-stop action that he'd like would be Dredd. Not the Judge Dredd from 1995 with Stallone but rather the 2012 one with Karl Urban. But don't get me wrong, Judge Dredd will always have a place in my heart. I'd be down for you guys reacting the Judge Dredd and then Dredd a little later so that you can discuss the similarities and compare the different movies. But Dredd is like, the epitome of non-stop action from start to finish so that's why I focused on it over Judge Dredd. And don't forget about Blade 2. That one's fun too and I think Thoren would really like it.
Don't skip on Robocop 2. I'll recommend more 2 from the same director (he was on fire at that era): "Starship Troopers" and "Total Recall"(the original). I'll be here to see you guys react!.
Hell yeah, Robocop! And Thoren did the V cause you guys reached 600+, hell to the yeah!! I think you guys would also like Starship Troopers if you haven't seen it already.
Tell you son that at 12:22 the guy is picking a Iron Man comics. This ain't no coincidence as it is a tribute to the main inspiration of Robocop's design.
Our local theater didn't give a crap about checking IDs in the 80s, so at 12 years old, myself and a friend saw this in the theater on release. Loved it! I still remember the controversy that it was so violent it was initially rated X and had to be edited down to be released. Pretty sure the version you watched is the extended version, with the excised violence added back in.
Nice one. I remember they had to cut several seconds from the guy getting shot by ED209, or it would have been X-rated. Lol How about watching, Starship Troopers?
Ah yes, i remember the late 80'ies as a bit of a "gold age" because not only did great movies like Robocop & Batman the movie release, but at the same time 8 bit computers & consoles had been out for quite a few years so they could really put out some incredible great games because the programmers really knew the hardware. Back then every major movie had a game. Like every Arnold movie had one (and most of them was kinda bad). Game like Robocop & Batman got like 10/10 ratings. Then the 16 bits machines hit & the loop atarted over. However for a small handfull of years everything just felt like pure quality entertainment.
Good stuff, guys! This movie is from the over-the-top violence era of Hollywood action movies. You'll see several of these shady & cocky 'bad-guy' characters show up in Total Recall, with the same comedic result. Peace.
You got the Robocop lyrics wrong. It goes, "He is a robot, he is a cop. He is a robot cop. RoboCop!" 😛 Fun fact: People like to say 'why don't you just shoot RoboCop in the exposed face?' But he doesn't really HAVE a face. He's just a brain, eyes, digestive tract, and the skin of his old face stretched over a robotic frame to give him a more human appearance! The remake gets shit on a lot but it's not baaaaaad. It's nowhere near as good as the original, but it's not baaaaad lol
Not sure if Thoren will agre, but @Neil can you recall loving movie soundtrack as much these days as back then, some moments like at 22:47 and the general Robocop theme, so magical, I'm sure there are moments and great soundtracks to movies today, but honestly, I often came out of the cinema wanting to buy the soundtrack to the latest hit movie. These days hardly anything makes my ears stand up the same way. Oh and the graphical blood from the exploding patches or whatever they are called, the props, it still surprises me that in modern huge budget movies like The Expendables series, mostly the blood looks so bad often purply-red and just clearly CGI'd on. Ok won't rant, but yep point is, without Peter Weller's great physical and facial acting, this movie might had flopped, without Paul Verhoven's great over-comical and over-adult directing this movie might had flopped, without Basil P's incredible soundtrack.... without Rob Bottin's wonderful... without without without. It's like back then if a movie had a 'dream team' of creators then WOW it was a magnificent thing! As someone mentioned below other Verhoven movie Starship Troopers should be a win, oh and the original Total Recall (also directed by him, Arnie stated back then that he wanted to be in a Verhovern movie after seeing Robocop and instantly agreed to Total Recall)
Get and play through the Nacon's game (PC version), ROBOCOP Rogue City. It's surprisingly GOOD, downright GREAT, which is very rare for a licensed game.
I wasn't 18 in 1987, so it's always be fascinating to me that many of the lines from this film first hit me from a rap tune 'SILVER BULLET 20 SECONDS TO COMPLY' there's a YT video [ruclips.net/video/2_HSJWlmcvQ/видео.html] (hope YT allows that one, it can be funny with links) so when a friend rented (yep good ol Blockbuster VHS!) it in 1992 I kept having flashbacks to the rap video which surely most people had it the other way around! Edit - found out from song credits that although to me Silver Bullet sounded American, he was British, and it seems this rap track didn't even hit US soil back in the day :O So I hope you like it, 33 years late, but go ahead get down if this is your thing lol I did! Anyway great stuff, always respected Peter Weller's acting outside of Robocop also, Screamers, oh and The Leviathan (if you still cannot get access to The Abyss) and so many other cheesy movies that he made way better than they should have been purely by his acting presence. Great reaction as always, now off to re-watch that rap video and dance a jig like and mime the words like I used to 33 years ago lol
I got the chance to watch this movie in the cinema last year, as part of special 35th anniversary screenings, had a fantastic time. I did also watch the 2014 reboot in the cinema when it first came out, I won't spoil things obviously, but it was soooo boring! Great casting, but they get given nothing good to work with, the action is pretty nonexistent, the drama side of things just drags like crazy and there is literally no main villain ... just a complete total mess! Avoid avoid!!
This is one of those movies that most everyone likes. It's a good mix of action, comedy, story, and social commentary.
What a video! Neil's vaping, Thor threw out the "V" and he gave it a perfect score! Ooowhee what a ride
There is hope! So glad y'all liked this. Part 2 is absolutely worth watching, but part 3 and the sequel can be skipped with nothing of value lost. Have a damn fine day.

Masterpiece of a movie.
I was 16 in 1987. I was big enough to pass as a little older to take my 11 year old brother, as well as myself to this movie.
I was 7. My brother wouldn't be born for another 4 years.
I always loved Robocop. I got the cold-shoulder from the family when I convinced everybody to watch robocop 2 in the theaters. Granted they were right but robocop 1 is the shit.
The best part about this movie is the advertisements strewn throughout. Great reaction as always!
Heck yeah! Thoren did the V! I knew he couldn't resist forever, haha!

You're probably right about the pacing. We will definitely be checking out Blade 2. But I didn't realize that about Dredd. Added to the list for sure
Don't skip on Robocop 2.
I'll recommend more 2 from the same director (he was on fire at that era): "Starship Troopers" and "Total Recall"(the original).

"Shawshank Redemption" , y'all should check out, it's about a wonderful Prison 💀
Hell yeah, Robocop! And Thoren did the V cause you guys reached 600+, hell to the yeah!! I think you guys would also like Starship Troopers if you haven't seen it already.
Looking forward to watching Robocop for the first time with my children is one of the happiest parts of fatherhood
YES!
Nice!
Thanks!

Best Paul Verhoeven flick alongside Starship Troopers...
...which you should do a reaction to, BTW...You guys won't regret it. 😁
I saw this film in the theater when I was 7 years old! The scene when Murphy gets killed they didn't show his arm being shot off!
I love Robocop! ❤
Awesome reaction and appreciation of a classic 👍
Murphy 😏 (play theme) credits. Perfect 👌
Good Reaction. Thanx for your cooperation!
My favorite Paul Verhoeven movie and second favorite Basil Poledouris film score.

How many people have you murdered? You have to be sick. 😂😂 I watched at 9.
I'm robo coppin, i'm robo coppin, to daaaaaaaaay
I always thought the girl cop is cute. And the character just works for some reason.
Nice one. I remember they had to cut several seconds from the guy getting shot by ED209, or it would have been X-rated. Lol How about watching, Starship Troopers?

Y’all need to react to the other Paul Verhoven “classic”, Starship Troopers now.

Great reaction to a cult classic part 2 is ok part 3 sucks the reboot is ok great reaction

This movie scared the shit out of me, probably shouldn't have watched it at age 8 lol.

Who the Hell loaded ED-209 with LIVE AMMO?!?
I got the chance to watch this movie in the cinema last year, as part of special 35th anniversary screenings, had a fantastic time.

Thoren definitely had enough of your shit Neil lol. Original Iron Man for the win! lmao.
You guys should watch The Fly
Love the Variable humor 💩, bring back the Egg plant neon light 🍆
People can survive being shot in the head.
How about alien 3? :D
both were made robocop and ironman
