- My mom and her friends were hiking the La Cloche Silhouette Trail in Killarney and had Topaz Lake (H7) booked for the night. We decided to hike 10.5km in and join them for the day to enjoy Topaz Lake.
Love this! Because of this video... I'll be doing this in July for sure. Thank you :)
Aw wow that’s so great! Thanks! Make sure you get on at exactly 5 months to the day or whatever it is as the trail books up so fast, good luck!! ☺️
What a beautiful area for backpacking. I loved your campsite area. Really cool video 👍👍
I grew up going to this area every year staying in a cabin on an island for 2 weeks. We always hiked to this lake, I remember we called it dead lake. Haven't been in 16 years!
Wow! I would have loved to see it 16 years ago!
@@WildCanoes I definitely miss going, it took me hours today to track down the actual name it's been so long. I was using google satellite and found the name then searched it here. Definitely looks the same, brought back great memories
omgg the underwater bridge!😳
Looks like it was a great hike. Gj everyone. Cheers 🍻
Hiked there a few years ago and was wondering about the legality of fishing there if anyone knows. I know lots of lakes in Killarney prohibit fishing but was just curious if anyone knows. I know lots of the lakes have been damaged by acidification because of pollution from Sudbury but there have to be lake trout at the bottom of topaz.
I see that you had to book that specific campsite but are there other spots around the lake that you can camp without having to book a specific site?
Yup when you first hike up to topaz you can stop when you first get to the top, just don’t continue to follow the trail to the left once you see lake - that’ll be the campsite but there’s rocks on the right when you first walk up that are great for day tripping.
How many hours it took to get to Topaz lake from George lake campground?
If you’re taking your time and not rushing I’d give yourself a full day. I’d say 3-4 hours there and 3-4 hours back. I’d leave first thing in the morning too. Also worth mentioning that once you get to topaz don’t keep following the red campsite sign to the left of the lake - campers need their privacy. Once you get to the top of the lake and look down, go right, there’s some nice rocks for sitting and a rock for jumping :)
@@WildCanoes Thanks for the info! We're heading here in July for a long weekend camp. I love your videos!
do you have to book that camp site?
Yup it’s quite hard to book, check Ontario parks reservations under hiking in the Killarney section. You can see what’s available now and 5 months from now
