  • I change the brake pads and rotors on on all 4 corners on the Toyota Landcruiser 200 series in my driveway at home.
To see Jafffa Adventures video on changing pads the proper way, have a look here, it's a really good series of videos:

    Great job mate. Very thorough.
You got away lucky compared to my neighbour and his 200. Set about doing a similar job to yours and 2 days and 2 mobile mechanics later they simply didn't want to come off. In the end car got towed to a shop the poor bugger.

That was my biggest fear. Because it was only a couple of days before the Easter trip, I was pooing myself that it would all go tits up. What surprised me was how hard the rims where to get off! Just to get the tyres off I had to use the mallet and slog them. Never had that before!

@@JebbreysJibberish It's a possible can of worms. I've never seen rotors that rust welded before, considering his cruiser had relatively minor off-road exposure.
Anyways good job and video, a lot of people will learn from you!
For what its worth ive had a front bendix 4wd kit fitted to the front oh my GU and its been great! Good bit of gear!
      Cheers mate.

@@JebbreysJibberish Aluminium on steel hubs seems to be issue with rims getting stuck. The Aluminium corrodes with that white dust and it just seems to glue them on. Slight bit of grease or anti seize around rim centre should sort it out 👍 Hope you've been well mate

Yeah going to put some anti seize on next time they come off. Man I couldn’t believe how stuck they were!

I got my discs and Bendix pads off Ebay front and rear for about $450 and 3 years later still working excellent. The braking was noticeably better and even today they bite really good.

That’s great to hear! Hopefully mine last well too. 😎 It does feel so much better now. Makes it much nicer to drive.

Squeal would've been from the big lip on the front rotors Jeff, bit like running your finger around a wet wine glass. Edge of pad just touches the lip and makes the lovely noise lol. Also with your rear brakes they are a floating caliper. The caliper floats on 2 pins so as the piston pushes on 1 side the caliper will "float" across and pull on the other pad. It's a great idea to pull those pins out (just the 2 bolts on caliper) and clean and grease them which will also help with pushing back the piston as the whole cage won't be in the way 👍 p.s I'm not working at you know who's anymore. Doing some high voltage stuff nowdays! So if you need to borrow tools or need a hand just give us a yell 👍

@@JebbreysJibberish Definitely better 💰 Wanted dual trades so thought I'd go play with powerlines for something different 🤙

Red hot tip if you do replace your handbrake shoes buy genuine shoes and the handbrake will work and nothing wrong with those rotors good quality brand.

Nice to know, thank you! Well I tell you what they feel bloody great on the road. The handbrake is hilariously working better now too, I assume that extra bit of meat and cleaner surface on the new drum has helped. But would I ever trust it… yeah nah. 😂

Get yourself some caliper compression tools

      @JebbreysJibberish  2 года назад

Yeah should do. It’ll be a while before I have to do them again though!

@@JebbreysJibberish hahah this is true, bit what will happen is you won't buy any, then one days you will need to do them, or another vehicle and you will have to use the clamps. Just buy them and toss them into the tool kit, they are one of the things you think you don't need but when you have them, it makes things so much easier
