Shetland Sheepdog aka Sheltie aka Miniature Collie

The Shetland Sheepdog.
This young man is also known as the ‘Sheltie’, a fun sized Collie for rural families and city-dwellers alike. He’s a great all-round family pet.
Bright, willing to please and extremely sensitive, he is a very obedient and intelligent chap. A fast learner, so you shouldn’t have any problems training him. He soon becomes devoted to you and your family, and his gentle, amiable nature make him perfect to have around the kids.
A combination of sands, whites, dark browns and blacks make him quite the spectacular sight, but you will need to keep his hair well groomed to prevent him getting all matted. His double coat combines two layers, short and long.
He’s a fairly small dog, very agile and fast with great endurance that comes from his herding blood.
Interesting facts: Originating from the Scottish Shetland Islands, they we’re introduced to England by the Naval officers who used to buy them for their families back home.Often mistaken for the Collie. He’s actually a miniature version of one, coming in at roughly half their size. He’s ranked the sixth most intelligent breed by the American Kennel Club.

He is NOT a "fun sized collie"! He is a Shetland Sheepdog, pure and simple. LOL. While people often say they are "small collies" they are a completely separate breed. My Shelties hate to be called "Lassie" (well maybe not but we always correct people!) :)
