@@ChrisSherlock I ask that because I believe what comes to hand when a lens is detached from the camera's body is the only front part of the lens. In those days, to save, they used to keep the rare element of the lens along with aperture system and shutter, inside the camera so every lens you use, is actually part of the lens to be completed into the called Focal Lenght, only when attached to a Retina camera body that has the remaining lens elements inside. Thus a simple mechanical adapter as you see sold on eBay is not useful to adapt these particular, incomplete lenses.
@@ChrisSherlock Ha Ha ! Yes -- Or Riding a Bike ! Now Chris-- I have been GIVEN a Retina Type 118 from research on your EXCELLENT site -- I will be in touch as there is a strange COIN attached on base from Czechoslovakia 1946 dated screwed in and Depth of Field dial moved to top left !
Very nice dissection.
btw is the lens useful on any mirrorless camera body?
I'm sure it would be. You would need a suitable adapter with some focus mechanism. Not something you will find on eBay I expect.

Nice to see an undamaged camera cleanup
How do you remember where all the little bits go ? !
After a while it is just like getting dressed in the morning...remember it's socks before the shoes...
