For some reason, about 1/3 of the way in, this brought tears to my eyes. Probably thinking of simpler times, of exploration, and of my late father, who was a guitarist. Thanks fam
Simpler times indeed, when this game was relevant I was a teenager barely and no mobile phones or these things everywhere. And somehow we still managed to live perfectly fine, and a lot less stressful.
This game came out when I was a kid and I can vividly remember those summers whenever I hear the music. Simpler times, no school, running around the neighborhood with the other kids, drinking from the hose, sand castles, fireflies, swinging, swimming in cold ponds, hot and humid summer nights with frogs chirping. To revisit that feeling, check out the Ghibli movies like My Neighbor Totoro, Castle in the Sky, Kiki's Delivery Service, Only Yesterday, Porco Rosso, and Whisper of the Heart.

@@raphaelverminwhen did Metallica sue for song copyright? I’ve been a Metallica fan for decades and I don’t recall that ever happening. If anything, that lawsuit would force more creativity and out of the box composition. In reality, it’s because modern pop music is simply too formulaic. They keep with the exact same motifs and arrangement that have worked for the past 20+ years, and people keep buying it because it’s super accessible.
But, that he so often did is why so many people (myself included) think of him as an absolute legend and a legitimately skilled composer in his own right - especially when considering the extremely limited hardware that he was so often forced to contend with.

I've been playing for 21 years and this eclipses ANYTHING I've arranged by a hundred miles. It takes masterful understanding of the fretboard to not only come up with these chord shapes to fit the melody/backing of this tune but to move them around as fast as you do. Just brilliant!
If i could have medium for a full hour and a half, I would be very happy. There's something remarkably relaxing about that theme slowed down and on a guitar.
This had me sitting there with the biggest smile on my face. Not only the nostalgia from the game but the amazing talent of the musician. Thank you for doing this.
Seriously, Mario 2's tunes were like giving Chet Atkins a few drinks, a guitar, and telling him to go ham on the rag time. What a fun, bouncy, but savage piece.
Koji Kondo, the composer for this and other Mario games, was (and remains) a HUGE fan of ragtime music. The theme of SMB2 is probably this influence at its most unambiguous, though, for sure.
I'm a pretty technically proficient (lead metal/neoclassical) guitarist but from Hard Difficulty onwards I found myself almost out of breath in awe and dizzy from visualising myself attempting to play it. Ace video.
That was life changing. I didn't even know people could really play that well and perfect. I didn't hear one mistake. That was probably one of the most impressive things I've ever seen.
@@matth2868 You can easily see more impressive/skillful playing by looking on YT for classical guitar or people shredding metal. Not sure if you know or not, this is pretty much the epitome of gypsy jazz style. And I agree that it’s some of the best music from the video game world.
Classic Mario music draws a lot of influence from ragtime (among other styles), and this tune is one of the best examples of that. Look into ragtime for similar stuff.
Thank you so much for this video. It's incredible how beautiful this music is when played on a classical guitar, and your skill level is top shelf. Great video!!!!!!

Haha. Agreed. It should start from "normal", to "nightmare", to "superhuman" and then to "I have extra fingers".
