    선생님, 아녕하세요. I have a question about this verb, so this is used even if you are not doing a favor to anyone? For example, in the book I`m studying there is an example: 여자 친구가 저한테 선물을 사 주었어요. My question is, its not like my girlfriend is doing me the favor of buying a gift, so it can be used even if this doesnt have the meaning of doing a favor?

      Yes, it is correct to use it there! Grammatically perfect! 🤩 You can also say 주셔서 (subject honorifics) to match with 합니다 polite ending. 👍

      you mean 어/아 드리다? 드리다 is the humble form of 주다. So when you are doing something for someone who is older or higher, you will say 드리다 instead of 주다.
      어제 선생님 도와 드렸어요. I helped the teacher yesterday.
      할머니, 제가 도와 드릴게요. (To an old lady) Let me help you.

    One thing I don't get about this structure is the phrase 번거롭게 해드려 죄송합니다. That's not a good thing, so why is it using 해드리다? Is it just a fixed phrase?

    • @KoreanJream
      @KoreanJream  2 года назад

      The humble form of 주다 is 드리다: when you give something to someone older of higher, you use 드리다. So service employees will use 드리다 to humble themselves, and you will say that if you are doing something for others to whom you have to be polite and humble to.
      번거롭다 to be cumbersome, inconvenient

      @@KoreanJream I'm confused since the 주다/드리다 structure is used for doing someone a favor, but bothering someone is the opposite of that.
