The Game Sack logo always makes me want to watch two gnarly dudes talk about a hobby we love. Cheers Mates. P.S. The burger king games can be played in both xbox and 360. The 360 enhances the graphics. Just pop one in the 360 if you want to hate them in higher res.
So the California Raisins basically shoot their own blood at people? METAL
It's either they shoot their own blood out or they rip their flesh off.
Not sure if anyone pointed this out, but it's kind of a crazy story why Dominoes stopped having the Noid in their ads:
On January 30, 1989, Kenneth Lamar Noid, a mentally ill man who thought the ads were a personal attack on him, held two employees of an Atlanta Domino's restaurant hostage for over five hours. After forcing them to make him a pizza and making demands for $100,000, getaway transportation, and a copy of The Widow's Son, Noid surrendered to the police. After the incident ended, Police Chief Reed Miller offered a memorable assessment to reporters: "He's paranoid." Noid was charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault, extortion, and possession of a firearm during a crime. He was found not guilty by reason of insanity. Noid spent three months in a mental institution, and eventually committed suicide in 1995. This incident caused Domino's Pizza to discontinue advertising using the Noid as their mascot.
That's really interesting! Thanks for sharing.
Well they thought enough time has passed because he's back in there commercials.
😆 "He's paraNOID"!
@@KasumiKenshirou Dislike for the emoji, but the joke was solid.
@@ShenRHHINOTRsorry, I know I’m a year late, but the dude didn’t come up with the “paraNOID” joke.. the OP pointed out the irony of the Sheriff’s comment about the suspect being “paraNOID”… the guy who you replied to literally just repeated the same joke, but capitalized the NOID part. Haha
Jeez looks like 90% of mobile games have Pepsi Man to thank.
Truly a game ahead of its time
I adore Cool Spot. Such a guilty pleasure.
+RetroGamingTube 85 Agreed.
+RetroGamingTube 85 My cousin, my brother and I loved that game until one day we used an infinite lives or somthing similar and ruined the game experience.
idk why or how i own that game for my snes. but my GF loves it
Totally. I had it on the Game Gear (which the guys didn't mention!)
The mega drive version controls like a dream. It is has amazing controls and music. Better than it has any right to be lol
Never stop doing Gamesack
+dodgykebaab This. It's such an entertaining series!
Content is king!
+SuperPiposaru Why do their views continue to decline? What's happened? If anything they continue to improve, so what's the deal? Is it YOUR fault?!
These two are the best gaming content on the internet. Seriously I learn so much from them
Gotta love the prototype Drac's Night Out for NES presented by Reebok shoes.
Mick and Mack are shooting McGrease in Global Gladiators . That stuff will kill anything
Game Sack, now with 23% more 'tude and 30 more fps.
Game Sack? More like Game Snack!
......
+HoodieNinja_7 More like Game Slack judging by the frequency of their videos.
Chris Johnson Uh... No. They produce long videos with footage from tons of different games, and all carefully edited. Their videos come out rather frequently, given that.
Well, compared to Feminist Frequency, sure.
Chris Johnson Okay, let's make a deal. YOU produce a show with about 30 minute episodes using footage from over ten games and scripted narration, do all the research to make yourself not look like an idiot, coordinate all that stuff with another person, meet up to record with that person, and don't hire anyone to edit for you.
THEN try to put out one episode of that out a month.
Anita is a fucking scam artist, and I say this as a feminist gamer that actually knows her shit. She selectively picks out details that sometimes don't even support her case (example, Krystal, a character who AFTER Starfox Adventures goes on to call out Fox on being a fucking sexist before running into battle with nothing but a blaster and hatred), just to make some claim to the nearly 1 MILLION DOLLARS she scraped off of the asses of uninformed feminists who thought she was anything but bigoted, sexist, and a downright bitch.
Best birthday gift I could ask for, a new Game Sack episode! Thanks so much guys, although I'm not sure if anything can top the last one.
+pointingsunglasses Happy Birthday!
Watching from Argentina. I need my weekly dosis of gamesack.
Bye bye, I love you
+alanboro Che!
Mate tango corrupción
+alanboro no estás solo hermano. :D
***** Le faltó tangalanga
+alanboro También soy de Argentina. La palabra en ingles no es "dosis" sino "dose" :)
mc kids WAS also released on the gameboy but was renamed mcdonaldland so cool spot was a sprite swap of that game.
also mc kids changed its name to mcdonaldland here in the uk with far better box art.
Love watching Game Sack before going to sleep. You guys rock!!
Great video as always.
The hate with the burger king games" trying to sell it self as a full game?" not really.. this was 3.99 with purchase of burger king food. I thought it was quite good for 3.99. Big Bumpin ice hockey was the best, we'd play that exclusivly back in the day for hours. that was a tiny hidden gem in those 3 games.
+swissmrkc also the 360 and og xbox were the same disk...can be played in both systems, the graphics are cleaned up a bit for the 360
They should make a fighting game with all these mascots. Imagine a dual between Colonel Sanders and good ol'Ronald. Or Captain Crunch vs Tony the Tiger. Wouldn't it be exciting ? By the way keep up the good work guys, it's always a pleasure to watch your videos.
At 13:05 I'm surprised Joe didn't say "Well these games will really cut the mustard!"
13:51 the amount of sarcasm here is humongous XD
Pizza Hut while playing TMNT 2 The Arcade Game when I was a kid.
actually funny that Pizza Hut sponsored the game because Dominos sponsored the movie.
Great episode as usual guys! I've got a good idea for a future Game Sack episode, Metroidvania games that aren't Castlevania or Metroid. If you want you can also add those games...
You mention Tommy Tallarico on both Global Gladiators and Cool Spot, but neglect to mention Dave Perry programmed both of them. They even share the same engine. :p
Yep. I usually blame Dave Perry in other episodes when I complain about the screen snapping back and forth. Didn't wanna sound TOO MUCH like a broken record.
Crazy Taxy on the Dreamcast had cool product placement in the form of franchise buildings. I think Pole Position had Marlboro billboards.
I think I want to take up smoking.
Haha great episode! Hate raisins but loved the California raisins when I was a kid.
Japanese Fighting Vipers with PepsiMan would have been a good follow up to PepsiMan. Also, TMNT2 for NES featured many ads for Pizza Hut, and even came bundled with Pizza Hut coupons.
Domino's is actually pretty good now. I grew up in the late 80's and 90's eating Domino's all the time (it's what my parent's ordered). It was awful. Cardboard crust, bitter sauce, and dried up cheese and toppings. It was balls. But they reinvented it, and it's now quite tasty.
+frozenaorta Jen bought Domino's recently and it still wasn't very good. The crust was the best part but still not as good as Pizza Hut pan crust. It tasted better reheated the next day than it did fresh.
Game Sack Hm. Well, perhaps it differs from store to store. I really enjoyed the pepperoni and mushroom I had. The crust was flavorful, and the cheese and toppings were prepared well. Honestly, I think Pizza Hut has gone downhill a bit. I LOVED it as a kid (remember those "Book It" free personal pan pizza coupons you'd get at school for reading a book?). But I don't think the crust and overall quality are as good as they used to be. Maybe I'm just getting old and bitter. For my money, Giordano's in Chicago still makes me the happiest.
+frozenaorta i think that dominos best thing ever was their new yorker pizza. unfortunately they dont make that anymore. other than that i really dont like dominos. back in the 80s it was crap, and even today its still crap. i like pizza hut or papa johns.
It honestly depends on the location, if you ask me. My local Domino's is always pretty damn good, but I've ordered from some that are downright awful. Same goes for Pizza Hut. They've also changed their recipes quite a bit in the last ten years. I still like their deep dish, but back in the 90s and early 00s, nothing could touch their deep dish. Then they went and fucked with the formula!
+TooBokoo I agree, and it's kinda crazy. As much as these franchises try to eliminate variables, you really can't depend on two different locations to be similar. When I worked at Taco Bell, things were always getting simpler to try to improve consistency.
Another great video Game sack! It's always interesting to see what kind of games were out there that I never would have considered or known about thanks to you guys! I've been able to recognize these games easier in the wild. Looking forward to the next one!
hey when are you guys gonna do the episode of games that use the select button?
You finally went 60fps! The Sack is now so much smoother of an experience. Thank you!!
Fun fact: Yo! Noid included a coupon for a free Domino's pizza. A fun game and a free pizza? Yes please!
That's not a fun fact. Turn in your gamer card
Now that was an ending. The "whatever" look, then the clever quip? Awww yeaa. Good job, guys.
GAME SACK AT 60FPS! REVISED THEME!
Also Coke is better.
Yeahhh!!!
+The Phantomnaut ... a hell of a drug.
only with jack
The Phantomnaut coke is not better when they put water that smelt like shot in some of there drinks
coke 100%
TMNT 2 and 3 for the NES had a lot of product placements for Pizza Hut, if I remember correctly. In fact, I'm pretty sure they included a Pizza Hut coupon in the back of one of the manuals.
The 2014 movie was a reboot, not a remake.
Wow!!! The only thing more scrump-diddly-icious than a game sack episode is GAMESACK: the MOVIE!!!!
Pepsi was the taste of a new generation 2 generations ago.
Yup, which is also the time they tried Crystal Pepsi (which I actually kinda liked)
I remember limited edition strawberry, raspberry and cherry pepsi here in Australia in the early 90's. I'd never heard of Crystal Pepsi til you brought it up, which is a shame. I can't get a cherry coke here unless I pay import prices.
+Chris Johnson The taste of that generation. Not this one. Sorry Pepsi. :)
+Game Sack were you able to get the pepsi stains out of your shirt after you dribbled on it lol? this episode was great!!
Tommy Tallerico didnt make his own music in the McDonald's commercials and he sounded like Norm in that game but Norm was a much better person rest in piece Norm.
Zool makes me wat to have Chupa Chups Lollies. That's for sure.
+Kevin “Black Arrow Gaming” Tasker omg yeah zool 2 for jag
That end skit was brilliant.
Not gonna mention that Pepsi Man is essentially Temple Run on mobile phones? Except made nearly 20 years beforehand?
Temple Run is a blatant rip off of the game.
Yeah we don't really play games on our phone.
@@GameSack amen to that 🤜🤛
One of the few channels that I click the like button before even watching the video!! Always that good!
i kinda expected hidden product placements in this video. like pepsi in shaq-fu :)
Yo bro, kinda random seeing you here! I'm glad you enjoy the Game Sack
+harrifongostudios hey buddy :) ..yeah man, game sack is great.. i also love the game chasers (these chodes, haha) and yeah itz funny to see freinds at unexpected channels.. like this one :) greetz, skeli
whenever I get hungry, I just look to The Sack to fill me up
PAL UK Version of Biker Mice From Mars on the Super Nintendo has Snickers
Nod finally made his way back to commercials in 2021
they got whataburger in Colorado? thought that was a Texas thing.
I wish they had it in Colorado. I, however, have been outside of Colorado so I am aware of its existence. So good.
i never knew Hardee's was only in the south east usa. the west calls it Carls Junior. people had no idea what Hardee's was when i moved... or anything i was trying to say yall. lol
+darthv72 Dat A1 thick n hearty
In N Out is still the king of bugers, east coasters don't know what they're missing. Whattaburger is decent though.
We have them here in AZ. We used to have Luby's a long time ago.
"Short lived mascot Pepsiman"?!?!
PEPSIMAN IS ETERNAL!!
Can you guys do am episode on music? :-)
OK.
+Game Sack thanks :-)
+Phillip McConnochie Could do a few episodes :D
+Game Sack +jimu _
I think Joe assumed you were trolling =)
They did a great episode on this topic on:
finalbosses.com/game-music-sack-is-some-video-game-music-plagiarized/
They can't put it on RUclips because of the money hungry music Nazis.
Boojakascha
That's a good one we could only do on Final Bosses since we compare it to a lot of non-videogame music. Definitely worth checking out. But we'll do an episode just about some of our favorite videogame music next month. :)
Not gonna lie. I was eating pizza while watching this (not dominoes), and the more y'all talked about Pepsi, the more I wanted it. Eventually ran across the street to the corner store and got one. Well done product placement team, you win.
Similar thing here, though I wanted Coke.
Yes i do remember the Noid. And since i am apparently older than dirt here are three games you may have overlooked.
Kool Aid Man for the Atari/Intellivision
Pepsi Invaders for the Atari
And for our four legged buddies (say that 3 times fast) Chase the Chuckwagon for the Atari, yes they actually made a game about dog food and it was terrible
+MrKroogur I wondered what happened to the NOID a few years ago because he just disappeared. The story is pretty fascinating and bizarre...
A boring Saturday night just got entertaining!
Harley Quinn That was original.
If you guys do another episode based on food products, you gotta include the Chex Quest series. It's basically a G-rated Doom game sold in cereal boxes but it's good.
lol I remember Chex Quest. I think it also had additional DLC levels
Of course I remember the Noid! Even as a kid, I thought the idea of him in a starring role was novel, so I rented Yo Noid and (somehow) beat it. And I'll never be able to forget the California Raisins because I had to wear a trash bag and dance to "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" in my 2nd grade PE class.
As far as other food-branded games go, I hear people really liked that Sourpatch Kids game.
Another winner! Nice theme, the general level of writing is really good and well paced compared to the early days. The Sack now oozes proffesionalism, for quite some time too! Someone should make a Game Sack based game one day. Thanks also for including Amiga footage! That's MY teenage years computer (after the C64). That's probably because I'm European and somehow, computers were more common than consoles as entry level machines. I'm still catching up! The Cool Spot platform game was also released for the Amiga. It came on three floppies, if I remember correctly... Another game with sponsored interests, was Zool, a Sonic inspired game that was made possible because of the kind folks over at Chupa Chups. Lots of lollipops.
That Raisins game was the icing on the cake. Way to go, guys!
When I moved to Japan, I saw Calorie Mate at the 7/11 and tried it simply because I snacked on so many of them in MSG3. They're not so bad, but don't count on them to restore your health bar.
"... and the music complements the graphics with its uninterestingness" . Love it!
You forgot the PC hidden gem Chex Quest. It's basically what Doom would be if it didn't have demons, vast amounts of blood and gore, hell references, multiplayer, and adult themes. To sum it up, it's a family friendly Doom clone. However, that's not that the game isn't enjoyable. It actually plays well on your PC. Please discuss Chex Quest in the next product placement episode in the future.
Crazy Taxi springs to mind with product placements for Pizza Hut, the Levis store and Tower Records among others ^^
My favorite Tie-in is Chex Quest. It came free with boxes of Chex cereal, and was basically a standalone DooM II conversion, and believe it or not, its actually pretty entertaining.
I was cracking up when he was eating that mustard. You two are the best. Never change. XD
+GammaCruxis That's unhygienic.
I've eaten Dominos Pizza a few time over the past year. The thing with their pizzas is that they butter the crusts, which is yummy enough, but I wish they could add more sauce without having to make you pay extra for it.
+Jason Hubbard I ordered a pizza for the first time forever last week and I ordered it with extra sauce. It STILL had very little sauce. I was disappointed. I guess that's a cost saving thing, maybe?
Nice video. I really like when you choose this kind of peculiar themes.
I love when I remember it is Saturday night, and there's new game sack!
This skit foreshadowed the future!
M.C Kids is so underrated, the game is on par with other good platforms, there are secrets, and the last levels are extremely hard
Game Sack: "Pepsi is this guy's religion."
AVGN: "I'll bet his bowel movements are like tar and colon foam."
The McDonald’s jingle you guys are too much ! I love it.
Aww... not even a brief mention of Pepsi Man in the Japanese version of Fighting Vipers?
I love you Joe and Dave - waited for this Forever - sure it gonna be awesome as allways
Cool Spot was one of a hand full of games I played on my friends Genesis as a teenager (I had an SNES). I have always had fond memories playing that game and remembered it as a good game. I'm glad it actually was good and not just nostalgia I've been on the look out for a copy and don't want to be disappointed when I finally get to play it again. Great video as always and good topic.
ACTUALLY that shameless Game Sack plug makes me hungry for a Game Sack movie.....HELP US OUT YOU GUYS...!!!WE'RE STARVIN HERE...!!!
Pepsiman also appeared in some versions of Fighting Vipers, YAY!!
ROBOCOD (James Pond 2) advertised Penguin biscuits in the UK.
And the brilliant ZOOL originally advertised Chupa-chups sweets and lolipops. They made me want to eat muesli.
Kaneko made a SNES game based on 7 up's Fido Dido mascot in the 90s. It never got an official release
+Ant Thomas It was also going to be released for the Genesis but it was cancelled too. The ROM is widely available on emulation sites, though.
When showing zoomed-in retro game footage you guys obviously use nearest-neighbour scaling so that the pixels are preserved. This is _awesome_ and I haven't seen any other channel do this _ever_. Puts my nostalgia organs into overdrive; there's nothing worse than blurry pixels. Nice one.
I absolutely love this channel, and I'm so glad you guys are back to doing bi-weekly! Thank you so much and please keep up the with the best video game content on YT!
"Scrumptious ass-games" sounds like a party I was invited to when I was younger. Like, too-younger.
You gotta try Domino's now Dave, the garlicky crust is bae.
+NickBLeaveIt I do like garlic..
Global Gladiators... This and Sonic the Hedgehog were my only games for the longest times. I enjoy it.
Pepsiman, Spot, & Dog (Mug's Rootbeer mascot), should have a collaboration game since they are Pepsi co. mascots.....
Dominos always had some weird advertising. They spent years saying "our pizzas suck but you should buy them." I remember 5 or so years ago when they said there was a new recipe. What is it? Salt from the taste of it.
Here in Chicago about 2 years ago they were dumb enough to have 1 medium pizza for $1 up to 5 for 100 minutes. The line wrapped around the building and about 90 minutes in, they ran out of dough (for mediums, but not large). After waiting another 30 minutes rain checks were given. Little Ceasers had a flood of business that day who made it a point to yell out "$5 pizza and ours aren't made from frozen factory dough."
+Games That I Play That's a funny story. I'm not a fan of the cardboard tasting crust. Here in Colorado there's plenty of non chain pizza places. They taste a million times better than Dominoes or other chains.
Game Sack Dave
I love non chain. Here in Chicago there are a lot of non chains. I went 8 years without having one, but hey that $1 pizza sure brought me in. Made it to the front of the line then we were denied. Dude even started stealing stuff off the walls including a carbon monoxide detector. It was fuel for a lot of stories.
Thanks for the reply Dave! I loved your Beer Sack episode. Have a good one.
@@gamesthatiplay9083 We are spoiled when it comes to pizza, in Chicago. Gino's East, Beggars, Aurelio's, etc..
Pepsi Man could easily be reworked into an infinity runner type game for mobile devices.
That Burger King creeping around is the most unsettling thing I’ve seen in quite some time.
An episode dedicated to food themed games, honestly I didn't see that coming, but I'm happily surprised.
Ya know, Pepsi-Man was insanely popular here in the middle east back in the day, even as a crazy Pepsi guy I never knew what's people saw in it, even today people get very nostalgic for it.
@Joe funny you would use the term "This is a crappy mini-game trying to sell itself as a full game" I felt the same about most iPhone games including the all mighty Angry Birds.
The only one i could think of was the PIZZA HUT logos in TMNT the arcade game on the NES
That Pepsiman game looks INCREDIBLY fun
I remember the Noid. I used to like the commercials. California Raisins too. I actually used to have a California Raisins poster in my room when I was in elementary school. I used to have a few of the small figures too. Lost them when my family moved, though. Talk about a blast to the past. I forgot all about the California Raisins.
SSX3 springs to mind. Had 7up billboards and even a 7up snowboard!
None of the games got me wanting their product, but Joe mentioned Whattaburger -- now it's all I'm thinking about.
I would love to see a similar video on "Product Placement for products/brands/mascots that no longer exist".
Haha love "The Raisins". They were so awesome yet so forgettable. LOL
Great episode again! MC kids and that gameboy spot game honestly look a lot like Super Mario Bros. 2.
Can't forget Crazy Taxi with the KFC & Pizza Hut product placement.
It's not a game based around product placement but Metal Gear Solid 3 did feature some with the Calorie Mate. The codec call when you call Paramedic after picking it up is pretty much a commercial for it.
Also, the Japanese version of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker had product placement for Doritoes, Mountain Dew, and AXE body spray of all things. For some reason it didn't carry over to the American release so we just have generic tortilla chips, lime soda, and men's cologne. The funny thing to me is that apparently Big Boss's PMC developed all these brands back in the 70s according to Metal Gear.
finally a product placement game
you could do an entire video on product placement in the amiga alone but those are just sponsored games
i suppose they count though so some of the food based ones you missed were:
pushover (quavers.....a brit cheese crisp/potato chip)
zool (chupa chups)
and that one with the frog in it whos name escapes me (lucozade)
Holy crap Android Assault music at the end! 100% digging that!
Shell Shocked is all about the “uh oh” when the yellow m&m gets hit
None of the games made me want to buy any of the products, however I was drinking some unsweetened tea as I watched the video and seeing you drink the tea made me grab my glass and take a swigg.
60p! FINALLY! Now we get our sack at the same framerate the games play at. Woohoo!
thank you for making game sack
my favorite productplacent games were chex quest and captain crunch
this episode was really enjoyable. make another one of these food episodes.
Yes! Global Gladiators has great music. Played that and sonic two a lot when I was younger!
