You recommend giving pts Folate but what about Vit B12?

Vitamin B12 is an important supplement. But our bodies store enough B12 in the liver to last for years. Folate deficiency can occur within a few weeks.

Thank you. I left med school during my second year because of MS in 2002. In 2004 I had a carcinoid removed, along with over two feet of distal ileum I was always weak and dull-headed and I thought it was due to MS but later my Int Med resident checked my labs and said my Vit B12 was the lowest he had ever seen.. I was like "Of course, that's where the B12 is absorbed." You have a great series and provide a valuable service for all med students on their journeys.@@pwbmd
