I always feel guilty when, for whatever reason, I question whether I should go on a ride or not - so it was kind of reassuring to see you struggling with that too, at the start of your second day! The rides you're unsure about, but still end up going on, are always the best. Loved the stamp on the coffee filter too! Thanks for the video, great as always :)

I like keeping my own company and have learnt (over the years) to enjoy and even savour solitude. Everything in our daily lives are constantly screaming for our attention all the time, one can hardly find one’s own thoughts at all. Hence I love solo riding, not bound by anything except one’s own pace and one’s own ambition. I ride when I want and as far or near as I want, I wave or nod to every other solo cyclist I pass by, like secret handshake or nod of acknowledgment. Most folk mistake it for being lonely, but it couldn’t be further from the truth. People who enjoy solitude are never lonely. 😊

Now I believe that skipping a day of biking makes me feel like my day is incomplete. I hurt by back last Saturday, for an unrelated reason, and could not ride my bike for about a week. It takes a moment to get back on the saddle at 45. (I guess I should stretch more. 😉) With the changing season where I am, it is getting colder and the days are shorter. Not riding each day left me feeling incomplete. The disappointment of not biking daily was a testament to my drive and the freedom it brings to my day. Riding alone gives me freedom and peace. When I am flying down a hill I throw my thoughts to the winds.
Marcus’ life and stories have improvement my mental health so much. He reminded me to slow down (but not on hills and mountain passes!!), breath, drink excellent coffee, live bikes, love your days as they are, and to be alive in the moment you have right now.

It started with a yellow, 70s Schwinn Le Tour I converted to a gravel/rando bike....its name is "Yella Night Ham". And my modern gravel bike is named "Jacks Uncle Teal". Next bike will be "Ronald Donnet"....not famous but funny. Just like me. Thank you for your cycling inspiration. I look forward to every adventure you share.
