You should also react to some other songs from yorushika like ‘prostitution’ which was a change in style that i did not expect when it came out and also ‘thoughtcrime’ which i think is their best song
those songs have a story, and if you going to react the *Nautilus* you should react it in the last. the story is about a girl(elma) and the boy(amy) . if you buy the album there's a letter of amy, that letter is about of his journey and his sending it to elma and there's a diary of elma to. idk what album it's it.. the ending of the story(Nautilus) will really make you cry i promise that sorry for bat English hehe T-T
I believe the most common pronunciation for the producer is 'na-buna', and they used to be a vocaloid producer. Yorushika has a pretty incredible series of songs detailing an older songwriter passing down their love of music to an up and comer too, with some real heartbreak mixed in. Their songs drum up lots of emotion
“Why I gave up on music” supposedly is told through the perspective of the male. There is an entire story following the two characters in that MV and there are some videos out there that explain it better than i can. Love your reactions!
n-buna was a well-known VocaloidP before Yorushika. He and Orangestar were famous for writing the "summer song", but they catch different emotions in the summer. Then, n-buna wanted to convey things that Vocaloid singers cannot describe. That's why he formed Yorushika. You might find the similar spirit from his Vocaloid songs in band. In an interview he said "I like to have things in the story that don't change (such as bus stop signs), so I make sure they are there, and that way there is a core of what appears to be a complete song at first glance. I like the idea of "something that looks like it's completely changed, but there's still something unchanged"." For example, the first three song are from their 1st, 2nd EP and 1st album. You can find the sentence "How high the clouds are. " in 'Say it' and the text from 'Just a Sunny Day for You'. "Only sleep at night." are also in the text, and in the lyrics of "The Clouds and the Ghost". Then, "The Clouds and the Ghost" is answering questions from 'Say it'. If you put two songs together you will find it easily. Two songs are the exhibition of the core concept "Reincarnation" "Reincarnation" has connected their first fourth CD, telling a big story. In the MV of 'Nautilus', the last song of 2nd album, you will see the same ocean in 'That's Why I Gave Up On Music', the last song in 1st album. Two album are highly related. 'Ghost In A Flower ' is from 3rd album, and you will find a small piece of melody from this song in 'Spring Thief'. They aren't connecting that much with first fourth CD, but still asking a deep question "What's the true value of music/creation?" They even released a EP which has 'no CD inside version' . Finally, their new "artwork" coming in April will be a music&art book, no CD.
The title for 4th album is "Projection (Gentou)". Will split into two chapter. Chapter 1 - Summer Potrait and Chapter 2 - Dancing Animals. The songs for chapter 1 already release, such as, "The Old Man and the Sea", "Matasaburo", "Howl at the Moon", "Bremen", "Left-Right Confusion", "The Fruits of the Earth". "Telepath" and "Algernon" will be commercial, so they didn't release in official RUclips account.

The lyrics of this song seem to desperately call out to heart. And I think it's a song that really shows suis' power of expression. The guitar at the end is also very nice. Please listen to this song.
One thing I love about Yorushika is that even though they say their names, they have the principle that they don't want to show their faces to the public because they don't want people to feel biased about their music just because of their appearance, and even tho they sound extremely good and they're extremely popular by now, they have only played live a handful of times, so they're 2 people doing music out of the passion of just doing good music, you can actually see 2 of their concerts on their RUclips channel, but the project is more of a concept than a band
One of my favorite Yorushika songs is Hitchcock. I first heard it when I was a high schooler and I felt so much pressure to figure out what I want to do with my future. Now as a college student that just decided that the career path I chose was not for me, it hits hard again. And also the fact that naturally I’m a really laid back person that just wants to enjoy life.
The title of this song is "言って(Say it)" has different meaning. This song is about her boyfriend who has past away already. "Say it" means that she is asking him to say some words usually. She still can't believe he has past away. In the lyrics, I will sing a love song for you in the last day of life if I can see you. I will sing "I have not lost all of my love for you". "I think I still can't believe you are not here in the last day of my life" The title of this song means "I want to hear your voice".

I would also recommend tuyu(ツユ) with the composer and guitarist Pusu and vocalist Rei. Pretty sure pusu is also a vocaloid producer which is formally known as zips before his days in tuyu
I'm a really big fan of Yorushika but I've never thought about the deep meaning of her songs lyrics and the incredible feeling with which she sings. This made me open my eyes, ears and mind. Now I'm a bigger fan than before 👌👏👏
This guy's first impression on that's why I gave up on music. Was exactly like mine. I mean all of it, from speechless to reading the comments to rewinding to that part where the girl vanished.
To my understanding, the producer n-buna is the person behind Yorushika. He writes and produces all of the music and lyrics, and he writes the stories behind their songs. 2 of theyre albums, that’s why I gave up on music and Elma tell a collective story through their lyrics, music videos and a short journal that n-Buna released. There are a bunch of great videos about the history of n-buna and the meanings behind their songs if you are interested.
As long as I can remember I've always a fan of both literature and digital art. That's probably why I always so drawn into japanese artists. And that Yorushika, Yoasobi and all of the post-vocaloid artists really hit all the checkmark for me. They're poetic, have a story and also a visual treat. Even tho honestly, I'm not really into heavy electronic sounds that usually these musicians have, I'm more into bands and alternative sounds. But even with just their lyrics I will always so eager to watch them. I appreciate them so much, thank you for the reactions
Wow...yorushika, such an underrated duo. It's a bit sad that not many ppl react to them, eventho they have plenty of good songs. These are my most listened yorushika songs (out of order), besides the songs that you reacted: 1. Thoughtcrime 2. Eat the wind 3. Flower and badger game (i really love the live version of this song) 4. Matasaburo 5. Spring thief 6. Hitchcock 7. Heikousen (ft. Eve), this is not really a yorushika song, but the vocalist, suis, sang this song with eve
Seeing this somehow I wish to see you react and your thoughts about the album Elma and Amy because both of the album has iconic, touching and hurt song yet it feels so heartwarming, and Suis' vocal really hit different
I'm a japanese Yorushika fan. This video makes me happy. I want you to listen to Spring thief(春泥棒), The Cloud and the Ghost(雲と幽霊) and Elma(エルマ). Elma isn't on RUclips, but it's my most favorite song.
Instantly subscribed. As a Yorushika fan, I love how you really dissected the lyrics and emotions in these songs ♥️ Fun fact too: N-buna himself is actually the one playing the lead/solo guitar and backup vocals in all of their songs
Hey man (I know there are already so many comments, sorry), I really liked this video, and I'm so glad you like the band! I have one more recommendation, it's a Yorushika song that is quite unknown and went unnoticed by most, but is an absolute BANGER: Goutou to Hanataba 強盗と花束
I used a translation app. Please understand even if it's a strange sentence.Say it expresses the feeling of "I wish you had said something to me before you disappeared" to the person who committed suicide.(It's just my guess. However, I think it's natural to interpret the lyrics like this.) The answer song for this song is Kumotoyuurei. Please listen to it.
i dont see anyone talking about it, so ill just add this here. "that's why i gave up on music" is part of a series of music videos/songs (i believe from the album Elma, i might be wrong) that all tell the same story or parts of the same story in slightly different ways. The story itself being that of a failed musician that commits suicide after giving up his dream, but not before inspiring a girl with his love for music (most of the story told from the point of view from the musician, the boy in the MVs). In the music video for the song Nautilus, we see the girl following the steps of the boy through places he describes in his songs and a couple photos of said places; in the end she finds his guitar and his charts at the end of a pier, the charts themselves being of all the other songs from the album.
This song is from the Album "That's Why I Gave Up On Music" giving the story on why Amy decided to end his life and also give it meaning through the reasons why he gave up on music. From my understanding, it was Elma, not Amy(the guy in that's why I quit music), who inspired Amy to pursue a life through music. That's why he goes "It's all your fault," in the song. He also further states that "Elma, you are my music," deciding to abandon(?) something in pursuit of music. [I believe so because before he says that about Elma he says "Life is a line of compromises" in Deep Indigo] Elma meant alot to him. In "August, Someone, Moonlight," he wrote "On a certain night in August, I rode my bike into the moonlight," implying that the moonlight guided his way through the town that night when he felt lost. He later writes "Your life is my moonlight; I won't let you say that it was nothing special." He then goes through hardship such as learning that the price of happiness and achieving your dreams is very high(Song Writing and Coffee), that writing becomes harder and meaningless while all he could ever think of is Elma(In June I Write About a Town After Rain), and that there are things he just doesn't want to remember and that pain is proof that he has met Elma(May and the Emerald Green from the Window). He then fantasizes about a place where he, unable to write a single thing, can just look up at the sky (Parade, Elma). Then it finally brings him to the pier where he writes leaves his final song/letter, Nautilus. There, he ponders about his life so far and comes to a short conclusion that he might have been wrong in his view on life and that he truly should not have cared about what people thought---that he had a dream once and that now it's worth absolutely nothing(That's Why I Gave Up on Music). By the time he realizes all of this, he's at the bottom of the lake looking up at the water's surface hoping to catch moonlight. This leads us to the next album "Elma" which begins with "Only Sorrow" as Elma writes about her grief and slight bitterness writing about how his life, like water lilies, has been pressed transparent under the weight of water. Elma continues further in her angst, regretting that she had not known(?) and writing that "Singing songs isn't enough, I want to hear about those days where the dusk's red is shone on you. I want to know what you mean by a 'beautiful night.' Lost in a flurry of flowers(fireworks), I wait for summer with this moonlight attatched to me." (Evening Calm, Someone, Fireworks). She reminisces about how the first met and that she wrote a song so that she would never forget Amy's vividness(Rain and Cappuccino). She believes that it would be too cruel if she forgot about him, but also acknowledges that she would never be happy as long as she remembers(Dance of Gods). To combat her grief of not knowing the truth, she walked the path Amy walked and followed his journey throughout the nation following his letters to understand him and his pain more(Walking). Even then, she comes to finally admit that she should stop lying and feiging ignorance. She had known. In her quest to understand his pain, she had made it so that every single sentence she wrote would be as if Amy wrote it. She made her entire being that of Amy to understand what the hell he went through. She realizes that there is so many things she regretted and even more she wanted to forgot as long as she remembered him: that every single second of consciousness is filled with memories of him. That's when she finally understood what Amy meant when he wrote "You only are my music" (A Hole In My Heart). I'm not so sure what the following songs (Voice, Amy), but I know that once she ends the album with Amy's final song: Nautilus. The song she found on the pier. I don't really know the story between Amy and Elma outside the songs in these albums. I know that there are letters, but I don't know what's in them. If I'm wrong, do correct me I'm also trying my best to understand what these albums are about hahaha
When listening to "Just a Sunny Day for You" you mentioned the aspect ratio, you will have to listen to "thoughtcrime" and then you will find the weirdest aspect ratio ever. Btw just found your channel and I really appreciate how you vibe with these songs. Yorushika is by far my favourite group/band/duo/singer in all of music. I suggest you, check out a lot of it as they have a very distinct sound and even then they can sound amazingly different from song to song. "Eat the wind" for example is an amazing song that really sounds like nothing else.
Also, That's Why I Gave Up on Music alongside Elma are albums that tells the story of Elma (the girl) and Amy, (the boy) and I believe That's Why I Gave Up on Music tells the story from Amy's point of view. You can read the translated versions of letters to Elma and Elma's diary that tells the whole story for these two albums on the Yorushika Reddit.
You said that “Ghost in a Flower” sounds like an anime OST, and that’s because it is! It’s for the movie “A Whisker Away”. I’ve never watched it myself, but I hear that it’s a great movie.
ahhh I love Yorushika so much! The music, the lyrics and the emotion! Even the instrumental from their albums are really amazing. You might want to check out Eat the Wind, Left & Right Confusion and Usotsuki by Yorushika. Ohh and also Heikousen by suis and Eve!
i love yorushika so much heres my recommendation for their song you should react next: - spring thief - a hole opened in my heart - deep indigo - rain with capuccino *addition - parade - nautilus - the clouds and the ghost
There is a novel (diary style like) on the album - Thats Why I Gave Up On music. I highly recommend it. You guys will know about the story of our two protagonist (Elma and Amy) and there is also a novel on the album - Elma. im really sorry for my English, its horrendous lmao.
Try reading the story behind the lyrics, a little bit dark and sad but will definitely shake your core. Especially for say it, and that's why i gave up on music which has a prequel rain with cappuccino. Yorushika is known to make a sad story on their original album songs but with an upbeat music.
Damn, my really good friend ( she's Japanese ) was the one who introduced me to YORUSHIKA , and I loved the songs. ( ELLIE SANNN!! WHERE EVER YOU ARE.......I MISSSSS YOUUU 😫😫❤🙌)
I'm so happy you are checking out yorushika!! first time on your channel, initially came here just to jam out, but ended up loving your commentary! I hope you'll get a chance to check out some of their other MVs. n-buna and suis are a phenomenal duo. he writes amazing lyrics with his incredible artistry and suis delivers them with her beautiful voice and fills them with raw emotion. truly so talented. I introduced them to my mom and she also loves her voice haha. (also to anyone reading this comment, n-buna sang an acoustic arrangement of one of his songs, dawn and firefly, and I recommend a listen if you want to hear his lovely voice :D I believe he sings a little with suis on Spring Thief)
You spoke japanese completely throw me off because this is my first time. I actually really love it when people actually enjoy the mv as well as the song itself I actually very appreciated it. I think in term of lyrical and mv jpop is really an undiscovered land. I highly recommended tuyu, maybe to start with Compared Child, I'm getting on the bus to the other world, What if this isn't a slave?, Even tears withered. They did A LOT of good songs but in term of lyrics these are the best best for me. You should also check out some comments under the song where people show their intepretation of the song. And mostly enjoy it as much as u want
Regarding That's Why i Gave up on Music, all of the album, which has the same name, are songs and letters dedicated to Elma from Amy, who got an existencial crisis at some point of his life and escaped from Japan to Sweden. With the special edition of the album, there's also Elma's diary that portrays how she sees Amy, which in for example 神様のダンス (Kami-sama no Dance) is shown that he is the closest to God for her
There's a lot of really good V-Tuber covers for some of these songs, I know Shiranui Flare covered That's Why I Gave Up On Music and Hana Macchia covered Say It. Uruha Rushia covered Ghost in a Flower beautifully, but you won't find her channel anymore, it has been reposted on other channels though
Glad you're falling into Yorushika rabbit hole 😢 Their songs actually have tales between Amy and Elma, and each song is a piece of puzzle to set before you finalize it up with Nautilus as the complete picture of the puzzle. So, before reaching Nautilus, I also recommend you to check Rain with Cappuccino, Hitchcock, Fireworks Beneath My Shoes, etc. I hope you can continue to react to Yorushika. Surely no regrets ahead!

First time watching your content and I really enjoyed it. I'm a big Yorushika fan and look forward to your reaction/review of their other songs.
I appreciate them so much, thank you for the reactions
one thing about yorushika's songs is IT WILL HEAL YOU.
one of the artists that made me into J-Pop
Thank you for listening to Yorushika. They have many amazing songs that people can relate to if understood. 歌詞はめちゃ悲しい、痛くって、淋しいくってでもめちゃいい曲で。
You're the first among the popular ones to finally react to Yorushika 😭. Finally!!!
this guy reaction just like me when I'm listen to their song for the first time
everybody gansta listening to their beat, until you understand the lyrics and message of their song.
fr man :( they're so expressive with their lyrics and they hit hard
Wow...yorushika, such an underrated duo. It's a bit sad that not many ppl react to them, eventho they have plenty of good songs. These are my most listened yorushika songs (out of order), besides the songs that you reacted:
1. Thoughtcrime
2. Eat the wind
3. Flower and badger game (i really love the live version of this song)
4. Matasaburo
5. Spring thief
6. Hitchcock
7. Heikousen (ft. Eve), this is not really a yorushika song, but the vocalist, suis, sang this song with eve
1.思想犯
2.風を食む
3.花房局
4.又三郎
5.春泥棒
6.ヒッチコック
7.平行線
This deserves more views!
Seeing this somehow I wish to see you react and your thoughts about the album Elma and Amy because both of the album has iconic, touching and hurt song yet it feels so heartwarming, and Suis' vocal really hit different
Oooh I loove Yorushika, Suis has such a beautiful soft voice
I'm a japanese Yorushika fan. This video makes me happy.
I want you to listen to Spring thief(春泥棒), The Cloud and the Ghost(雲と幽霊) and Elma(エルマ). Elma isn't on RUclips, but it's my most favorite song.
この動画のおかげでヨルシカの曲がどれだけいいかを思い出しました!Thank you for the video ロッキーさん!
Instantly subscribed. As a Yorushika fan, I love how you really dissected the lyrics and emotions in these songs ♥️
Fun fact too: N-buna himself is actually the one playing the lead/solo guitar and backup vocals in all of their songs
He has beauty voice!!
Ugh, I love ALL the songs you featured in this.
Super glad you enjoyed it! ❤️
glad you're checking out yorushika, my favorite song from them is Thoughtcrime (思想犯)
I love your smile😊
from Japan.
That's so kind of you to say! Thank you so much! ❤️
From Australia!
A ONCE and love yorushika. Instant sub
I used a translation app. Please understand even if it's a strange sentence.Say it expresses the feeling of "I wish you had said something to me before you disappeared" to the person who committed suicide.(It's just my guess. However, I think it's natural to interpret the lyrics like this.)
The answer song for this song is Kumotoyuurei. Please listen to it.
It makes me smile seeing and watching you discover the wonderful Yorushika! can't wait till you get to discover Zutomayo too!
Not many react to Yorushika, but I'd say they have some of the most beautiful songs, very happy you reacted to them.
OMG YESSS BEEN WAITING FOR YORUSHIKA AAAA, TYSMM FOR THE REACTION😭😭🙌
いつも楽しく観てます😊
ヨルシカさんの「春泥棒」もすごく好きなので、ぜひMVでみてほしいです。
i dont see anyone talking about it, so ill just add this here.
[I believe so because before he says that about Elma he says "Life is a line of compromises" in Deep Indigo]
Elma meant alot to him. In "August, Someone, Moonlight," he wrote "On a certain night in August, I rode my bike into the moonlight," implying that the moonlight guided his way through the town that night when he felt lost. He later writes "Your life is my moonlight; I won't let you say that it was nothing special."
He then goes through hardship such as learning that the price of happiness and achieving your dreams is very high(Song Writing and Coffee), that writing becomes harder and meaningless while all he could ever think of is Elma(In June I Write About a Town After Rain), and that there are things he just doesn't want to remember and that pain is proof that he has met Elma(May and the Emerald Green from the Window).
Yorushika talks about life and I love that about her, her voice is also amazing
32:06 when she said “kokoro” with that intonation of voice..i felt that man. i started to cry :”) what a beautiful piece of music ✨
HYPE Yorushika finallyy!!!!
the last chorus of That's Why I gave up on Music hits hard... too hard... in a good way
Spring thief, eat the wind, rain with cappuccino, the old man and the sea, and left right confusion are some of my favorite yorushika songs!
Real broo
When listening to "Just a Sunny Day for You" you mentioned the aspect ratio, you will have to listen to "thoughtcrime" and then you will find the weirdest aspect ratio ever. Btw just found your channel and I really appreciate how you vibe with these songs. Yorushika is by far my favourite group/band/duo/singer in all of music. I suggest you, check out a lot of it as they have a very distinct sound and even then they can sound amazingly different from song to song. "Eat the wind" for example is an amazing song that really sounds like nothing else.
Damm you can tell the lyrics are good when he's reading it and reacting to it with the instruments
heh yessir
Itd be fire to vibe Kobasolo produced covers here man.. btw producer Lok when
Also, That's Why I Gave Up on Music alongside Elma are albums that tells the story of Elma (the girl) and Amy, (the boy) and I believe That's Why I Gave Up on Music tells the story from Amy's point of view. You can read the translated versions of letters to Elma and Elma's diary that tells the whole story for these two albums on the Yorushika Reddit.
Yorushika more please!!
You said that “Ghost in a Flower” sounds like an anime OST, and that’s because it is! It’s for the movie “A Whisker Away”. I’ve never watched it myself, but I hear that it’s a great movie.
Ohhhh true! Damn I'll have to check it out! 😊
ahhh I love Yorushika so much! The music, the lyrics and the emotion! Even the instrumental from their albums are really amazing. You might want to check out Eat the Wind, Left & Right Confusion and Usotsuki by Yorushika. Ohh and also Heikousen by suis and Eve!
n-buna + suis is a match made in heaven
20:20 i just love that the lyrics say "Even if I plucked a single string in my heart" and the guitar on the right just goes "ping... ping"
sounds solid transparency
It's really really nice that you reacted to my favorite Japanese band, I love suis' voice
i love yorushika so much heres my recommendation for their song you should react next:
- spring thief
- a hole opened in my heart
- deep indigo
- rain with capuccino
*addition
- parade
- nautilus
- the clouds and the ghost
That was beautiful! Another great artist in my playlist~ Thanks for showing us bro
There is a novel (diary style like) on the album - Thats Why I Gave Up On music. I highly recommend it. You guys will know about the story of our two protagonist (Elma and Amy) and there is also a novel on the album - Elma.
im really sorry for my English, its horrendous lmao.
Please more Yorushika, they're also as talented as Ado 🥺. Imho, Hitchcock is the best reflection song for us young adults.
Try reading the story behind the lyrics, a little bit dark and sad but will definitely shake your core. Especially for say it, and that's why i gave up on music which has a prequel rain with cappuccino.
Yorushika is known to make a sad story on their original album songs but with an upbeat music.
you should check their live performances, cause they somehow get the same feel of their music videos despite being live
Ayooo yorushika reaction 🤧❤
Thanks for your amazing reaction!
I hope you’ll listen to Hitchcock, Parade and Nautilus from Yorushika too ❤
Hitchcock is my favorite song of all time.
So many of my favorite Japanese songs are from them, another you might want to check out, if you haven't already, is a group called - Yourness -
Thanks for the suggestion my friend!!
yeah yourness also good, for me the best of their song are my last day, and that song really hit my heart
if you listen to their songs in playlist order theres actually a storyline
Nice!
as you vibe to their music, you will experience some depression because of their lyrics.
They did A LOT of good songs but in term of
lyrics these are the best best for me.
Love all Yorushika songs. Nice reaction
Hoping to see u check out Minami soon.
Highly recommend 靴の花火 and hitchcock!
Hana ni Bourei is an OST for A Whisker Away, an anime movie

Oh! RUclips recommendations just brought me here. ヨルシカ is a very amazing band regarding to their music style, lyrics and MV. I also recommend another Japanese band called Zutomayo, I’m not sure if you have heard of it.
I am very happy when you say the lyrics in Japanese because I am Japanese.
