It looked like it lagged or wasn’t as responsive as it could be. I love the idea, but I think it needs another revision or two before I can consider it.
Yeah, I don’t know why a smart home tech company would compromise on this. Surprised you didn’t criticize/comment on it. Non-starter for me for many reasons, this being one of them.
NO!!! Emphatically, NO!!! This company is actively seeking a buyer which says a LOT about the company. They can't run their own business. I'm on my second control panel and support has been terrible IF they even respond! Over $400 for a "smart" device that doesn't work is NOT acceptable. Both panels are completely dead which means all the "smartness" is gone and they're $400 paper weights at best. Perhaps they were better years ago but NOT anymore. I've had mine since last year. TERRIBLE!!
@EricWelander Any chance you’ll make a video about Brilliant’s failure as a company? I would suggest that any smart home manufacturer that was doing their own thing, and struggling prior to Matter’s 2022 release needs to change course or face their own demise. Consumers need to know the risks of buying tech from these companies.
I love my brilliant system ( 3 years now). I have 2 controllers and 16 switches and 4 plug. I love my brilliant system I can't say enough. Controls my sonos and love the motion detectors too. It does rely on the cloud so if internet goes down everything still works other then being able to access remote
Yes and no. I don’t recommend wall mounted iPads after trying them multiple times myself. They aren’t setup for multi-user, always-unlocked environments without lots of extra work and maintenance. I hope Apple gives us a true alternative in 2024.
@@EricWelandershould perhaps consider doing a video on this. Pros and cons. I’m thinking of an iPad wall mounted solution. I’ve just had enough of the silly ads on echo show devices, they are going into the bin.
We have the original version that is wired in. It is more responsive than this video. But the integrations arent as big as google or alexa. They are trying to be an apple where your tied in to the ecosystem but it ends up feeling like the metaverse lol Also dont rely on samsung smart things. They cant even maintain their own smarthome ecosystem
It would be nice if it was possible to add the motion senser to Apple HomeKit as a sensor.
Great idea!

Yeah I equate it to the responsiveness of a typical car touch screen. Usable but not great.

I am trying to base things around the Home App, and will probably wait for a newer addition of the Display, before consider this for my ecosystem.

Brilliant realllly needs to create this same platform to run on PoE. I will buy it tomorrow if so.
Great review!
Thanks!

Thanks for sharing. That sounds like a nice setup.
very cool but at that price an iPad would probably be a better investment at that price, hopefully the price will continue to drop, it is very cool.

It’s not brilliant to not add all HomeKit Device automatically into control panel
Apple would never allow that
It's too bad that they just went bankrupt. Their servers are still running for now, but it's only a matter of time...
Too much...
