The oldest form of Armenian music was born simultaneously with poetry in the country of the troubadours. It is dated back to the 6th century BC and located in the province of Kogt. We know the names of the instuments which accompanied primitive epics, for which however we have minimal written documentation. Kora's "fairytale" is based on this tradition of 2.500 years and flows between legends and reality. Her narration, no matter how imaginary, contains truth and reveals the poetic disposition of her people. Her composition, rich in routes and styles, is connected with the thread of the inexhaustible Armenian music. Bue even Kora's life would appear to be a bizzarre Armenian fairy tale drama if it wasn't true. Like those fairy tale dramas created by her ancestors for the leading hero Vahagn, the princess Satenik and the valiant King Artashes. Like a continuation of her own "fairy tale", where she sacrifices herself so that we will "live better after", with the heritage of her charming speech and her delicate lyricism. ~ Hagop Djelalian
