My absolute favorite tang of saltwater. I have other favorites and must have in the future but Yellows just steal my heart with bright color and big golden eyes
Just curious, watching your video....why would you leave those asterea stars in your tank??? Especially if you have zoanthid corals? Just wondering....
That's a bright colored Yellow Tang, looks very healthy. I hope mine ends up being as healthy (just bought one today and will be adding it in a few weeks).
Old video but pretty helpful for a beginner like me.. Yellow tang is the reason I am moving from freshwater tanks to reef tanks :) I am preparing a 75 gallon tank with sump, 120 cm length with lots of rock work. I am wondering if yellow tang would be happy in a tank of this size? It will of ofcourse be my only tang mating with several other small fishes ( gobby , clown, blennies) Thank you!
I'm glad you said yours has been doing fine in a smaller tank. I've wanted this fish forever, but you get the animal rights police jump anyone with less than a 8 ft tank. I've got a custom 4ft tank (which is a bit taller and deeper front to back than norrmal), as you said 8inches is what they CAN reach in the wild, 4inch in an aquarium sounds about correct. I think 4ft wide tank is sufficient, especially if there's not much crowding in there
Emmanuel A. Gutierrez Constantino a lot of times if the tang is finding algae in the tank, they’ll avoid being fed it. I would just keep trying. Eventually they’ll get it. Is it on a clip?
I was always fascinated by this fish in the fish tank the sea urchins were cool but the yellow tangs were my personal favorite the blue tangs would kill off the yellow tangs a lot and they hated the clown fish. Star fish were usually left alone and the sea slugs snails were a useful tool to help keep the glass clean.
Hi! I love how informative your videos are! I have a question though. I have a 40 gallon bowfront fish tank that is currently stocked with only 2 clownfish. Is there any possibility I can keep a small yellow tang in my tank? (30in long, 24 in tall and 14 in wide) If not, any other tang such as a yellow eye? Thanks.
Aerocraft 9815 If you can find a really small one, which really isn’t hard, I don’t think you’d have a problem. Other tangs that are okay with that size of tank would be a Kole tang, Philippine tang, and even a tomini. Thanks for watching :))
Hello I have a 44 gallon pentagon style tank it’s 28” deep. Will small yellow tang work ? Also you mentioned price $30 - $40 where you get them from that price I see them $200+ Thank you
MR. AQUARIUM just give him time. You might’ve just gotten a shy one. Let him get used to the tank and make sure you aren’t messing with the tank on the inside too much or fish bullying him.
My uncle gave me a 75 gallon tank I think with a bunch of fishes like this and like dories and nemos 😭 and I’m still learning about all of these fishes
Jonathan Simpson Yeah you shouldn’t have a problem with it. Just make sure to feed them more when you introduce them together. That was aggression is down.
You can! If the sailfin tang has been in your tank for a while, you will probably see some aggression between the two. A lot of times adding tangs at the same time is better.
As long as no one else is sick, she should be fine. I had this one for over 3 years and the reason she passed is because i put a Santa Clause deco in my tank and it gave her some sickness that I could not cure. But in my opinion, they are really one of the more hardy tangs. At our shop we recommend this one for anyone scared of them getting sick or beginners.
So my yellow tang has been breathing faster than normal for a while now. Could ammonia have to do something with this? My ammonia is a .25 and I’ve been trying to bring it down for a while now
Johnny Carreiro have you check all your levels? Nitrate and phosphate specifically. He getting stressed out by anybody? Been messing in your tank too much? Umm feeding him enough algae every day?
Brock Leonard nitrate at 0 and phosphate at .25 I don’t put my hand in as much and it doesn’t seem like he’s getting bullied. I also feed him half a sheet of omega one algae and half a block of frozen fish food(for all fish). I put an air stone in the tank to see if it would help aswell
Johnny Carreiro sounds like you gotta aggressive one. Just try to keep her belly full to reduce anger. Does the cleaner shrimp ever get a chance to clean her?
What's a god tank size to keep tangs in? I've always loved tangs but i wouldn't wanna keep it somewhere cramped (also sorry for commenting on an old video)
piedralisk7 hey!! And it’s no problem, it’s good to know people are still watching them. So tangs. There’s so many to choose from and each of them require certain tank sizes. Mainly because they grow so quickly that they will be uncomfortable once they get older. 55g is the smallest I would put a tang in and Certain tangs with that statement. Like the yellow tang or kole tang. Just let me know what Tangs you are wanting and we can try to figure out what size you need 😁
The original "Hey everybody"...I have at last found it! Great series Brock thanks for the years of content!
The very first!! Thank you so much for watching, really means a lot.

I haven’t either! Maybe one day we’ll accomplish aquaculturing them
Hawaii has banned the Yellow Tang aquarium trade due to the decline actually.......

Miguel Maya I've never experienced asternea stars eating corals. I've never had a problem with em! :)
Miguel Maya there are difrient species of asterinas.

Quarantining is waaay overrated and almost completely unnecessary.

Bad Dog Media I totally agree with you! And Yes to the animal rights police😂 probably what the 8 dislikes on this video came from.
Our tang lives happily in a 4ft fish tank. I wouldn't recommend any smaller though.
So this is where the all about started. Bro 😎 you looked out a lot without even knowing you …🤙🤙good looks
THE VERY FIRST 🙌🏼 what a ride it has been. Thank you for always watching my videos, it means a lot.
Hi! Great video
How do i get my tang to eat nori algae? He eats spectrum pellet and brine shrimp quite well
But dry Algae doesn't seem to be working
Emmanuel A. Gutierrez Constantino a lot of times if the tang is finding algae in the tank, they’ll avoid being fed it. I would just keep trying. Eventually they’ll get it. Is it on a clip?
Yes, it's on a clip, i keep it near the surface, so i can take it out to quit the uneaten algae
@@TheUNATCOleader That is the reason why it has a moderate care level.
I was always fascinated by this fish in the fish tank the sea urchins were cool but the yellow tangs were my personal favorite the blue tangs would kill off the yellow tangs a lot and they hated the clown fish. Will they get along with a Cole tang?
Steven Cheng Seen it work so many times!
Would I be able to keep a baby yellow tang in a 33g?

What is that purple coral that is above the bubble coral?
There is a massive toadstool above the green bubble coral
Why does my yellow tang always hide? He’s always scared of me to
MR. AQUARIUM just give him time. You might’ve just gotten a shy one. Let him get used to the tank and make sure you aren’t messing with the tank on the inside too much or fish bullying him.
What is the dark red clown with the yellowy gold strips called?
Gold Stripe Maroon Clownfish
Will a sailfin tang get along with the yellow tang
Yes! Add them at the same time for a better result.
My uncle gave me a 75 gallon tank I think with a bunch of fishes like this and like dories and nemos 😭 and I’m still learning about all of these fishes
Nemo/clownfish is one of the easiest fish to keep but the dory/blue tang I will recommend for people that have a lot of experience
Nice mushrooms! what species are those?

I just ordered 5

Are they compatible with a Coral Beauty?

Brock Leonard I know I’m late and off topic but I wouldn’t recommend a 55 gallon tank I would recommend a 60 gallon
Can they fit in a 63 gallon tank which is as long as a 120 gallon tank
Marvel Austin Wijaya Yes! Just get a small one and let him grow!
Can I put this with my sailfin tang ?
You can! If the sailfin tang has been in your tank for a while, you will probably see some aggression between the two. A lot of times adding tangs at the same time is better.
U think itll be okay if i put a baby yellow tang in a 29gal? Eventually getting a 55gal or larger in a year.
For the time being yes, or you could just wait till you got that 55 so that you don't take the risk of the tang not handling the switch well
I been trying to avoid this fish but I am about to pick up one tomorrow, should I leave this fish alone. I heard they get sick easy...
As long as no one else is sick, she should be fine. But in my opinion, they are really one of the more hardy tangs. At our shop we recommend this one for anyone scared of them getting sick or beginners.
Can a scopas and yellow tang live together?
We've actually successfully done it before. They were in a 120g together.
Fit in a 36x24x22 tank?
anthony zitaglio As a juvenile he would be okay, but eventually he will get big and need an upgrade :)
So my yellow tang has been breathing faster than normal for a while now. Could ammonia have to do something with this? My ammonia is a .25 and I’ve been trying to bring it down for a while now

Mine is one year old now hes stopped eating all of a sudden and hiding more all outher fish eating
Have you noticed any aggression from your other fish toward the tang?
Any reason that my yellow tang is biting my cleaner shrimps whiskers and being mean to it?
Johnny Carreiro sounds like you gotta aggressive one. Just try to keep her belly full to reduce anger. Does the cleaner shrimp ever get a chance to clean her?
hi from denmark (:
Do you think I can put one in a 60 gallon or a 75 gallon
Yes
Would one go in a anemone tank 215leters
One as a juvenile would be best

The only Tangs I really had an interest in are the yellow tangs although as of recently, I do like the look of the Scopas Tang.
piedralisk7 well in that case, both of those would thrive in a 55
Ah thank you! And it would be 1 tang of similar shape per tank right?
piedralisk7 yes!
Really want one in my tank. Sadly getting one in india is hard, you usually get the mimic tang😢
Would they do well with chromis?
sparkslpl definitely. Recently I've had a trio of em with the tang and she doesn't bother em at all.
sparkslpl cause they help with algae n they are cool to have lol
