Prazi has been around a long time. I used to use one for cutting out doors and windows in S.I.P. panels. Now, that Skilsaw has all the bells and whistles. Very refined, that one.
@@Darndiddlyarn Right, and skip chains are for long bars, for my Husqvarna 385XP I have a 2 foot bar with a full compliment chain, link with a chisel (tooth), link without a chisel, link with a chisel on opposite side of last chisel and so on. Then I have a 3 foot bar for it with a skiptooth chain, link with a chisel, 2 links without chisels, link with an opposite side chisel and so on. With chainsaws I've never seen a chain that has a chisel on every link except for some antique saws that don't have chisel type teeth they had cutting teeth that look just like the one's in a manual cross cut saw (what the old timers called misery whips). Putting a chisel on every link or a chisel on every other link (like a normal chainsaw chain) on a long bar like my 3 footer would drag the saw down and stall it from having too many cutters digging into the wood than the motor can pull through, cutting the rakes down too low does the same thing because the chisels are taking too deep of a bite into the wood. Also, chains for ripping wood are quite different than regular cross cut chains in how they're sharpened, instead of a 25° to 35° angle on the chisel they have about a 10° angle, the chains themselves aren't special just the way they're sharpened. When cutting fresh wood from a tree that's been recently dropped and wet if you try rip cutting with a cross cut chain you'll see the cuttings coming out in long slivers that look like hash browns before they're cooked instead of chips like you normally get when cross cutting, those long slivers will clog up the chain and instead of cutting through the wood fiber it's mostly trying to burn through it and you'll ruin the chisels on the chain that way from heating them up and them losing their temper, with dried wood that's used in furniture making like this guy does I don't think that'd be an issue but one thing that will be is with the 35° cutting angle on the chisels of a normal cross cut chain that angle side loads the chisel which is what it needs for cutting across the grain, that side loading when cutting with the grain will produce a very rough surface and a much wider than normal kerf, I'd lay odds the chain on these things have the special 10° angle on their chisels so anyone who wants to sharpen them with a chainsaw sharpening device needs to make sure it's adjustable down to 10°, all those little hand held things and the one's that clamp to a bar that have a crank you turn by hand wouldn't work on these chains because they'll have the regular 35° for your typical chainsaw chain.
one piece of advise - buy youself a electric chainsaw chain sharpener, like oregon. I used to sharpen my chains by hand with a file, but the teeth were not with even angles, some were shorter and the chain was making a uneven rough cut. After i got the sharpener every cut was like butter. And it takes about 5 minutes to sharpen a 50cm chain.
I was a little worried about installing the blade after reading a couple of reviews. But it was amazingly easy. Took about 1 minute. Works great ruclips.net/user/postUgkxjpBI8OOeUXib_iT7UomCrQ-uauwZJ62c . Cuts easily and is perfect for pocket cuts I needed to make for replacing some old deck boards.
Great addition to what kind of operation you have D. Although your recent videos are short I do enjoy noticing bold upgrades. What you have going on is literally my dream. All the best. 👽
Festool has a smaller one (up to 8") that can run on a track. Have used it to make notches and half joints. They're not great, a bit rough, but good enough depending on the wood you use and the look you're going for.
Check out the project farm video on saw chain sharpeners. Keep your cutting as sharp as the rest of your tooling. Also - interesting to hear you think the full house gives the cleaner cut. In making rip cuts with a chainsaw, usually the skip tooth design gives a cleaner cut.
Mafell has the best beam cutter IMO The ZSX 400 is a beast. There is specific chain oil you can buy for cutting chains it's made by Swiss pro called chain fitness I use it on my moritce and beam cutter.
Much better design with the Skil brand beam saw. Is there any way to make miter adjustments to be able to rip a piling with a bevel for the turns of the bulkheads I build. And great video. Is the beam saw available as stand alone to use in my old model 77 worm drive?
Eine schöne Maschine!! Kannst Du mir bitte den Preis einschließlich Maschinenhalter,in den USA nennen? Ich versuche es mal,in Deutschland, Diese!!,Maschine zu bekommen. 👊👍
Hi , it looks like a good item , But you were talking so quickly I had to keep going back over and listening to it, probably my age. But MAFFEL FRAMING CHAIN SAW ZSX EC 400 mm I think is a better Machine. it is a bit expensive but you do get what you’re paid for. I have Used a lot of there tools for approximately 40 odd years,
I nearly stopped watching when you said you use WD-40 as a chain lube. May be a bit better than water, but not much. Any oil would be better. Motor oil, 3in1, actual chain saw oil even. If this comes longer, then it can make a simple saw mill....with a ripping chain.
I can see that becoming a huge success in the log home industry and the post and beam building craze that is going. Great tool for sure

I'm very impressed... the dust collector was great... I work with a lotta big beams... might be my next toy... thanks for sharing... God bless
I was looking at the Prazi but I think I will go the extra $$ and buy the skill unit...thanks for the demo
I like that saw, I'm gonna look into one for myself.
The chain with every other tooth missing is called a skip chain. It's for cutting wet lumber. It throws the saw cuttings out better.
Skip chain has two links between each tooth.
Skip chain also gets the cuttings away without binding up the saw.
Very interesting
That chain is a regular chainsaw chain not a skip chain🤦🏼♂️

This is THE COOLEST SAW IVE EVER SEEN.
Wd 40 is a water displacer..not lubricant..now some dawn dish soap on the other hand is a wonderful lubricant
Weird, since it is referred to as a penetrating oil. Last time I checked, oil is a lubricant.

Damn that's even better then the Kress / Festool chainsaw , keep these videos coming, all the best for 22. Karl
I have a nozzle for a Kress saw, I made the tire longer and made 14 inches.
All in all pretty impressive chip and dust extraction for a chainsaw
Love you videos you do awesome work. Thank you Sir
Great tool review. Thanks for posting this.
Glad it was helpful!
@@dustylumberco now that you had this for a while would you still recommend it?

I’d love to try a mafell 👍
Would be keen to know if you do get straighter cuts from the slight elevated angle. Especially on large/thick beams
That's a big big saw !!! 😱

Wait until they come out with a track for that saw🥰
That's freaking cool 😎😎😎 where did you get it
Nice tool, Dusty. Can you remove the end cap and riving guides and do plunge cuts (carefully) for big mortises?
Very cool tool bro!!
I wish they made a ripping chain for it.
This is an amazing tool
Agreed!... that's impressive...
Everything but the price , available in the uk ?
Hello! Will you share the link to be able to buy those tools?
Sweet Machine
You can use vegetable oil to lube. Doesn’t stain the wood and better for the environment
Have you ever checked out Skil saws SPT99 table saw?
I was really surprised that for a festool guy you aren't using their sword saw
Your shop has evolved massively. It’s all Festool now. Lol
Nice! Do you by any chance take online custom orders?
What is the Model # of this Skillsaw? Thank you very much Charlie
$699 US. Unless you are building log homes, there are much better and affordable ways to get the same result.
Really enjoy your full length videos! No clue what the use of all the short videos are for...must be a money thing.
I think that might be a ripping chain.
Спасибо. Хороший инструмент
Булатный лайк мой👍
"Say hello to my little friend "!
Hope they export to Europe some day
I want to like it, but I like my echo chainsaw too much. 🇺🇸
I'd love to see it rip the post down the middle next time
🇧🇷 Valeu amigo, vc é muito bom na serraria.
how can i buy it
이 기계 가격을 알 수 있을까요?

Why would you use WD-40? It attracts dust. Why not use dry Lube, it doesn't attract dust
One bad thing and the reason I would not purchase it is you can’t make through mortise with it that’s a real bad flaw
Sangat bagus sekali om👍

Chainsaws don't have a blade. They have a cutting chain that tracks around a bar. Calling the bar a blade is the sign of a beginner or an amateur.

Please i parchase 1 skill saw
noice
Why lose a finger when I can lose a leg? - I'll leave this tool to the pros :P
So could you use this as a poor man's lumber mill and actually rip logs?
Спорный инструмент
Another piece of advice. Turn your fucking camera 90 degrees
So just an overpriced electric chainsaw...
Those things are complete garbage. My boss bought one for a beam saw, and there good for cutting firewood that’s it complete garbage for woodworking
That things in a beast
