People tend to like what they are familiar with. This is a good approach at being objective and trying to compare. To be consistent, the test should be repeated several times over the years; one never knows is something will change on the supply side.
Excellent! Thank you for doing this. At the Angel Academy of Art, Florence, we use only Nitram charcoal, because we have found it to be the best (we've been using it for over 20 years). We use all three degrees of hardness, sharpened to a long drawing point and smoothed with a brush, as needed.
Has modern Nitram reached the same quality as the original? I have compared both years ago and found that the new company doesn't actually do what the original did. Still got some of it left, but I never went back to try the modern version again.
Thank you for leaving me your feedback, it is great to learn the opinion from Angel Academy of Art, I have just recently introduced with Nitram, after over years using Coates, it is great to find another wonderful resource to use for the future creations. I will do more refined works with Nitram to see what is the max quality it can offer. Stay safe and healthy.
Thank you for your support, it is my pleasure for the test. I was trying to be fair and give out my honest opinion to find out the quality of all these charcoal can offer.
When I put them in my charcoal box they all become alike. Can't stop to make clear distinctions . Nitram gets a break because it's square ,but that brand shape also gets mixed up.
That's fantastic, thank you very much for understanding the process. A favor, could you help me know what paper you are using? Greetings from Mexico.

Para mi, Nitram y Coates son los mejores.

@@BIZEB I am new to Nitram, not sure how is the original charcoal feels like, perhaps Michael would be the person who can answer this question.
It's so helpful and well represented. One of the best videos about this topic I saw so far... Keep on doing! Thanks! (subed and liked)
