The issue with most ck3 crusades is the ai doesn't follow into fights. It's like they only see that the one army is gonna lose so none of them reinforce but if they all did they'd win.
Baldwin IV was an absolute chad. Man took the throne as a severely disabled 13 year old and spent the next 11 years being the only person holding the Kingdom of Jerusalem together. Even when he was too far gone to walk on his own or ride a horse and completely blind he was leading his men into battle from a litter
I mean I'm a Christian and everything and yeah Baldwin IV is to be respected, but most stories around him are fairy tails. He was trash of a ruler even if he didn't have his disabilities. He couldn't rule over his vassals. He won a single battle at 16 years old and everyone is like "Omg he defeated Saladin alone" LMAO no he didn't, it was more of a skirmish than a battle at this point. Then he let the Templars and Hospitaliers do pretty much whatever they wanted without punishing them. If Baldwin IV would have ruled his vassals better, the crusade wouldn't even have happened tbh
The Baldwin in kingdom of heaven is different withthe real one But yes he deafeted Saladin when he was 16 but also lost Jerusalem when he was alive(in movie says he was dead but its not thr truth)
@@Archenskyou know the hospiliars actually helped people right? Dope mod, my only issue is that it makes you play Baldwin IV when he is 22 and not when he was 13 when he is made king or when he turns 15 and takes the throne. He also dies at 24 with the throne passing his nephew and not his sister. The movie changes Balian of Ibelan's affair to Baldwin's sister Sibylla instead of his stepmom. I get why, but it the messy succession of Baldwin IV was a major reason why Jerusalem fell. His 5 year old nephew being co-king rubbed a lot of important people the wrong way, his dad's second wife and their daughter, his half sister, and the relatives around her Essen bickering over a throne that Saladin was eventually gonna go after. Baldwin is so fascinating because he won a battle while dramatically outnumbered. Jerusalem never lost land In the 11 years he was King. Edward Norton's portrayal in the movie is incredible, and it's one of the few changes I love. Historically, Baldwin was more boring. Historically, he was very good at picking the right people to help him. I also only know a general knowledge of this decade in history. And I can't expect a mod to change CK3 sucuessions and wars. The fact you can play this out at all is cool
Have you read the Arn books ? I'm currently on the third book, it so awsome! Anyway, book two is taking place in Jerusalem, where Arn de gotia is meeting with King Baudouin, who is hiding his face in the dark... he is also meeting with Saladin (dont wanna spoil to much) :D
I went as an ally to aid in the crusades as I was allied to King Heinry the IV, and my GOD, the head marshal leading the war was genuinely restartded. They just stood around while the Muslim forces ambushed them in all directions. Ridiculous
Starting from Mr. Poppo in Germany (867) the Umayyad were able to acquire the entirety of the Kingdom of Aquitaine by the time I finally united what was left of Germany and France (year 1068). Meaning I was able to do a Holy War for the Kingdom of Aquitaine and get nearly 40 counties at once after winning the war. The largest territory gain I've ever had at once in the game.

I wish I knew how to play this game properly. The most annoying part is keeping all my lands together after my player dies and things start splintering and I have to retake lands
If you’re starting the game with your own created character, make sure to pick the sadistic trait. It’s not the best but it does allow you to murder your children which makes succession a lot more manageable especially when you’re just starting off. This works especially well if you’re playing as a viking because sadistic means you lose a ton of stress when you execute prisoners, and because of your religion it also grants piety. If they’re a highborn they’ll even give you some dread, and I’m pretty sure it even gives you more dread if you have an executioner.
something that really tires me is these sub goal spams, most other creators have stopped doing this now because it's aggressive and annoying. This is probably the one thing that prevents me from subscribing because i don't want to listen to it for every CKIII video. I hope saying this doesn't come across as being insulting for no reason. Otherwise the content is very high quality and enjoyable.
