I went to GameStop a couple minutes before they closed today after I got off work thinking they’d be sold out and to my surprise they actually had one available. I saw your unboxing before I got off work and that made me decide to go look for it. They sold out quick online for preorders and I was really disappointed I couldn’t get one. Thanks Austin!

I love how since in scarlet and Violet you are a student, on the back they made it what a lot of students do, which is stick a whole bunch of stickers on their stuff, and it looks fun to get

I fell in love with this OLED as soon as I opened the box. I had to upgrade from my V1 switch for this one, I loved the designs as a Pokemon fan; the nostalgia threw back to my childhood seeing the stickerbombs on the back but I just wish the JoyCon grip was white to match it. I just got to be careful getting it back into the dock.
I will also upgrade my V1 Switch to this. The design is just so beautiful!

Is it challenging to transfer all games and save data from old console to current console? this puts me off from getting a new switch

Got it from my local Target 5 minutes after Austin posted the pic on twitter. I ordered for pickup right after that store opened so I assumed it would sell out and get canceled but to my surprise I got the last one
I love the stickerbomb pattern on the back! Reminds me so much of middle school nostalgia that fits with the school theme of the game. Can't wait for mine to arrive, it's gonna be my first Switch too~

I keep thinking about getting this. I think I want to upgrade to the OLED and the special edition seems nice. Not gonna lie, the main barrier is that I'm paranoid something is going to go wrong when I transfer my data
I am done it multiple times and it very likely won’t happen if you do it correctly
Just letting you know your Pokémon game data won’t transfer when transferring data if you upgrade so you will probably want to store them in Pokémon home if you wanna keep some
@@mattyice6387 if you still have your old switch when you set up a new 1 you can just transfer your user account over and your saves will transfer with it. That works for all games apart from animal crossing where you need to use the island transfer app on the switch to transfer that over. I did it last night to my Pokémon OLED and got all my saves over intact.
Love your videos for two reasons. I like how you discuss and explain the games. Also, your personally reminds my heavily of my college buddy so I get a nice dose of nostalgia from you so thanks for that lol
I bought a pre-owned Switch V1 about 4 years ago, managed to snag this version on Best Buy's websitr last night! Picking it up on Tuesday :)) Great to see a review of it!
11:00 You can swap the shell to a new Joycon and just hack the color so it appears the correct color on the Switch.
How do you hack the color? Please teach me senpai

Me neither! First time I’m getting one. I remember I wanted the Pokémon XY special edition 3DS but my mom absolutely refused because she thought I’d grow out of it. Now here I am years later getting the Scarlet and Violet special edition Oled 😂

I love the Hoir Split pad pro! They're great for people with bigger hands like myself. Hori also makes a medium size joy con. Plus they make a lot of pokemon themed ones.

My pikachu and eevee nintendo switch is still going strong! I'm amazed it's not broken down yet, especially after all I've put it through.
Decided to get this model myself as an upgrade from the launch day switch
For your Eevee joycon you could swap the shell with a default looking one that works and send the broken one to be fixed. Im not sure how risky switching the shells is but I know it can be done so there's probably a good tutorial for it.

Naive man, Pokémon is soulless now
I love everything about it except for the back which I find too busy. It doesn't look bad, but I've always preferred more subdued designs for my stuff so it just doesn't fit my aesthetics. Still pretty tempted though, but I'm stubbornly holding out for a theoretical Switch Pro at this point more out of principle than anything else at this point, lol.
Hey Austin! Been watching for a while and love the content. I had the same problem with my Let’s Go controllers! I found a local retro game store that does joycon repairs and he even used my joycons to film a how to repair video xD But if you want them fixed, finding someone local is usually a better bet than the Nintendo repair service, especially on a limited edition color like that. Only cost like $20!

If it wasn't for the back design (im not a fan of the graffiti), i would have picked this up so I'm picking up a white oled and customizing that. Thanks for the video as always Austin!

Yeah, the back is a bit overloaded imo. I very recently got a white OLED and I think prefer the clean white compared to the Pokemon one.
I also got mine at target this morning and opened it while watching this video. This is by far my favorite Switch Limited Edition so I decided to upgrade. Can't wait to play the games on this!
If I didn't just build a pc I'd be getting this version but still excited for Austin's videos for this game. He has never led me wrong with a guide ever. This man is a fantastic guide for all sorts of games.
Good news is that Yuzu emulator exists, now you can play the new Pokemon games in 4K on PC!

I bought mine today. I also bought one of those third party off deck holders with grips. I put it over my switch and while sliding in the controller, I recognized it was too small. By then it was too late and I ended up scratching the orange controller. Rest in peace, but the system looks great nonetheless.

I have the same Hori joy-cons. The ones you (and I) have are indeed the Daemon X Machina edition. They have a bunch others, some with cool Pokémon designs. I would highly recommend them. They are specifically called Split Pad Pro's. I'm hoping they come out with one that matches the new Pokémon switch.

Same, my bestbuy order got delayed, so ended up gettting my Scarlet and Violet Oled at target, but it was a roller coaster this morning!! But I got it in the end. And I'm sooo excited for Pokemon SV!!!
omg I just got mine and I love it way more than I expected to. I didn't expect the OLED to feel so premium and be as nice as it is.
Hey I noticed in the video you have the Pokemon scarlet and violet games. Is it the actual games? Or just the games display case? I'm still waiting to get my preorder from GameStop.
I was actually thinking about getting this because I LOVE the way it looks and Pokémon is the whole reason I got a switch back when sword and shield came out and this review has me really debating cuz my old V1 Switch works fine, plus I don’t trust the data transferring since there’s no cloud backup for any of the Pokémon games. I’ve heard people lose all their progress like that
If you buy the system first instead of doing a trade in then you can transfer your profile with no issues over to the new system. You game data will transfer as well. The only time it will not is if you trade it in without backing the profile up to another switch. I used my sister's switch to back up my profile and then traded the system in for this new one. I had a lot of Pokemon that I didn't want to lose and didn't feel like backing them up to home.
You can transfer you profile from you V1 switch to an OLED with no problems.
"my-Ride-on" that makes total sense holy crap
It looks pretty good. Orange and purple are my favorite colors but sometimes it's hard to combine them. They do work on this switch and I'd love to own it. I can't buy one now, but since I own the v1 switch I'll probably look into getting it early next year when I travel to the US. The only thing that would sway me from getting the SV version would be if they announced a BOTW2 version, so let's see what happens next year.
that's a good point for BOTW, i didn't think about that ... they'd be silly to not do a console edition so ill probably wait for that too lol
According to the rumours the BOTW2 switch will be a more updated switch with a more powerful processor. So a switch pro. However this isn’t the first time we’ve had rumours of a switch pro and it never materialised so take it with a grain of salt.

This switch actually looks cool i'm getting mine November 10 at Best Buy but its just gonna be sitting in the box for 8 more days, scarlet and violet are gonna be the first games I play on an OLED switch model.
Man, that thing looks clean! The ONLY reason I'm not getting it is because I'm holding out for (hopefully) a potential Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom edition later next year! 😅

Oh, there will DEFINITELY be a TotK edition for sure! Nintendo would be insane to leave that money on the table lol. I'll probably hold out to see what it looks like when it's announced as well, because if it's decent looking, it's an instant buy for me.

Man you would be salty as if they end up trolling you and not do 1, even tho I got this switch I'll prob get the zelda one aswell depending how it looks(imagine a gold switch)
I was thinking the same, but like he said at 9:33, special editions can be resold at very high prices, even used, so worst case scenario I can just sell this one and buy the Zelda one with almost no lost money.
I upgraded from the original 2017 Switch to this, and I got it for standard MSRP ($360 before tax)! I love the textured designs, the unique dock, the new screen, and the sound quality and battery life are amazing too!
Really hoping I can get my hands on this one 😭 anyways it’s beautiful

So excited. This will be the first console I've had since the ps2 as a kid. I've thought for years if I ever got into gaming, it'd be whatever Nintendo had going on. I randomly started playing pogo months ago and have been craving more pokemon and sit down playing. This coming out was a sign for me to finally get a Nintendo thing lol. I ordered mine and can't wait.

Just got mine this morning from target and I’m glad I acted fast. When I picked it up they said it was the last one they had in and then when I checked on my phone all stores in my area are completely sold out. I absolutely love the design! Can’t wait to play the new games in the coming weeks on my new switch!!

The one I ordered from Best Buy is ready for pickup, the one I ordered from Amazon got delivered some time before I woke up, and my one from Target gave me a shipping notification as I read this. I'm excited lol. Oh, and only one of the three is mine, my dad had me order 3 total, one still has to ship from Walmart ..

Picked mine up from GameStop this morning. First time I've ever bought a special edition console and I absolutely love the look of it!
Here's a few things AJ left out/got wrong the video:
- The artwork on the back of the joy cons do NOT include all 3 starters. Quaxly is missing. Not only does Fuecoco appear twice, but Sprigatito does as well. I believe that if you count all the starters on the entire back of the switch in handheld mode, it does feature all 3 starters the same number of times.
- The school crest icons on the joy cons have a glittery sheen that twinkle in sunlight and they look absolutely stunning!
- The artwork of Koraidon & Miraidon on the dock do have holographic patterns like the ones mentioned in this video, however, AJ failed to point out that Miraidon has some circles/bubbles along its "front wheel"/neck pouch thing. You can kinda see it in the video. Just wanted to point it out because he makes it out to be like it's just the thin vertical lines.
Ok there friend knows a lot 💀throwing Austin under the bus.
Also on the top side of the dock it's self there is a switch logo on the back half of the dock. No other switch dock has that so far ❤️
@@anires1195 Well he kinda rushed this video and overlooked the details I mentioned. I got mine earlier today and had it out of the box for only 8 minutes or so (to put on a screen protector and joy con grips) and noticed these details better than AJ did.
Sooo I just walked into my local Target tonight for groceries and happened to walk to into electronics...and behold, a pokemon OLED happened to be sitting on the shelf!!! Apparently it was a canceled order today and I got SUPER LUCKY!!!!! I'm so happy with it!

Easily the best special edition they’ve put out and it’s made even better by how overwhelmingly good the games are
I'm getting my user data transferred to mine now. I was sold on this thing the second it was announced. Which now also means I can put CFW on my launch model Switch.

Luckily I'm in a smaller city and got to my Gamestop 30 mins before they opened. Got the only one they had in stock. The manager said they will probably get 1-2 more in. Just glad I got it because every where I tried they were sold out for pre-orders weeks ago.
I pre-ordered morning of and got it as the upgrade from the original switch. Just set it up and am downloading games I'm so happy
I put in a preorder for Walmart version (as I was only given Walmart and Target as options, with the the Target version being almost a full dollar more, for the same delivery date) and it said it would be delivered by Wednesday the 9th.

Finally upgraded my 2017 Switch and this one is a beautiful reason to do so.
Pre-ordered mine, picked it up, I've been looking forward to it. My brothers took my own Switch and I've been stuck with my Lite, now the middle brother took my Lite. The Switch has been confiscated by me because of the youngest's behavior at school.
I found out that the joycons no longer stay firmly attached to it and that it has some overusage wear. I figured I might as well upgrade simultaneously and pass on the old one as a "handy-down" of some kind.
The middle brother will be receiving his own Switch Lite for his 11th birthday soon. And he's looking forwards to it.
Ordered mine on Pokémon Center earlier this month, and it came in a few days later. Love this device despite not testing it out much (busy with WoW). I was surprised it was available, but then again I only had to wait a month to find a Let’s Go Switch. I also ordered the double pack, which was difficult to find for BDSP.

Bro, i literally watched this on release date to show the misses the unboxing because she was curious to get a closer look. Fast forward a few days, my OLED switch was missing but the SD card was on my desk. When i asked her about it she brought out a hot coffee and this exact switch already set up with my nintendo account and all my shiny pokemon in the bank :P

Oh, and the Charizard & Pikachu Hori joycons to use. Traditional switch joycons are too small for my hands the feel a little weird haha!

I was always a hand held gamer so when the lite came out I was so happy, I currently have two lites and the original let’s go Eevee switch, I skipped the other two pokemon switches, but I will say I definitely like this one, should I get it ? I don’t know.

I recently become a handheld player and I love it! I can finally hear and see the difference compared to on the TV.
I use the fixture S2 by fixture gaming, which makes it easier for me to play handheld too!
Austin, what do you do with all the Switch that you have? Seems like it's not possible to play them all at once
I have a V1 Switch and upgraded to this version now. It already arrived yesterday (Germany, pre-ordered from a big electronics store chain). Can't say anything about it yet, though, because I've been away from home :')
Btw hori released a product like the joycon grip controller but it's just a battery to allow you to use the hori splitpad joycons (the big chunky joycons Austin shows at the end) wirelessly if that's something anyone is interested in

First Austin amazing video my man! Love seeing your unboxing! But definitely wanted to point out a specific part he mentioned where he said something super important that I might have forgotten about! Sending in joy-cons or systems in for repair to Nintendo, if they are gonna fix it then send us our stuff right back, it isn’t that hard to keep peoples stuff that was sent in to you in order, you fix the part then send it right back to same address, if you can’t guarantee that the joy-con or system I PAID for would be sent back then why in the hell do you off repairs, if I send in then send the same one right back but fixed, if you can’t then better offer the parts so I can fix it, and don’t be complaining about how we shouldn’t be aloud to fix our own stuff, because how can I trust the repair services you offer if I am not getting the exact same thing I PAId for back ! It isn’t that hard! This is just my opinion ad everyone can think what they want, also again Amazing video!

If you're feeling handy, it's possible to swap it's internals with another, that's what I did to my skyward sword joycons

The openings by the kick stand are vents. The speaker holes are small slits under the screen.
I know I'm late, but I had a question. I got the LGPE edition of the switch pretty much the day it came out, and it's still working just fine (minus the joycons obs). I use it mostly as a Pokémon machine, with other lower-intensity games here and there.
I'm really tempted to upgrade to the OLED, but at the same time I know the life cycle of the Switch as a system is likely going to end in the next few years.
Would you say the upgrade is worth it at this point? Keep in mind, while my Switch's battery has likely taken a hit from being docked more often than used, I have methods in place to make that a non-issue
Oled really shines if playing handheld, if you mainly play docked it's not a huge upgrade. So get it ONLY if you want a bigger screen with richer colors and a better battery when playing Handheld mode. Hope this helps, I am upgrading from a V1 model.

I wish the switch would take the 3ds case route. Where you could buy a case for your 3ds. It would be cool if there was like a kit for the switch with a back plate and themed controllers.

I never had a console or switch before and just bought this thing and i don't regret since I'm a huge Pokemon fan.Still don't know whether to pick scarlet or violet.i like koraidon more than miraidon but i like ceruledge more than armarouge
I suggest getting scarlet, you can get koraidon obviously and ceruledge if you have a friend who has an extra one or catch a charcadet and have someone trade you the thing you need to evolve it into ceruledge.
I was lucky enough to get a pre order in a GameStop and BestBuy and neither canceled which worked out nicely since one of my friends wasnt able to and I just sold him my second one
