Punchy power band and a super fun chasis are highlights of this little beast. Huge thanks to www.ducati.com for sending it out for us! What do you guys think of the 2020 Supersport S?

You can start on anything. The hardest thing to ride are Harleys because they have generate a lot of power at very small throttle openings. They aren't terribly fast, the just make power at low rpms. Makes it easy to lose control. Most of these repli-racer oversquare engines are very docile if you don't pin the throttle. The biggest problem with starting on a sportbike is the terrible body position for street riding. They make a lot of sense for making an aerodynamic package heading down the straightaway at a race track. They don't make any sense for riding on the street. A lot of guys think they're "experts" because they've learned to turn the throttle and accelerate fast in a straight line. They'll find out how little they actually know when something enters their path.
@Rata 4U Wow, the last comment you wrote is most likely the most intellectually dishonest thing I have ever read. Hey Jaret, I just wanted to comment on what you said about ducati making this bike a whole new category, which is untrue. Great review, this is a perfect blend of street riding, touring and occasional track days, although I bought a Ninja 1000 over this for reliability, but If Ducati after sales is good in your country/city, get this one without thinking unless you are I4 setup enthusiast. That being said, this isn’t a beginner bike at all, this has serious torque low down which would make learning difficult for beginner riders.
See Jaret, See wha i meant when i Messaged you on insta the other day, you need to branch out onto other bike categories too, don't be a stickler for only sports bikes...if you want to increase your subscribers, then please ride adventure tourers like the Triumph Tiger, The BMW 1200GSA, The Ducati Multistrada....and many more...if you stick to only superbikes then you will only get to a limited crowd(especially if you stick to a particular brand *cough* *cough* ducati *cough* *cough*)....
Great video man! I'm a proud owner of a beautiful titanium gray supersport and I just love it. You have useful power even on the track. Keep it up with your reviews and fun videos and say hello to the beautiful Christina.
Great review! But why is anything with no high end specs "for beginners..."? It depends on the usage profile. The SS is a sporty road bike, not a racetrack bike. In my opinion it's also for experienced riders more fun on roads and longer tours as the Panigale 959. In the rpm-range (5k - 7k) you need and use on roads the SS (max. Power 110) has even more power than the small Panigale (max. 150HP on paper, but you need 11k rpm to get this). I own the SS, ride it in the alps for day-tours like 200 - 400 km. I think for this purpose there are not many bikes which can compete (probably a street triple RS or Aprilia Tuono), if you are "beginner" or not.
Regarding the clip-ons, check out a Honda 929. This is a common technique to deliver a more comfortable riding position on what is essentially a sport bike. Aftermarket addresses this as well.
937cc Ducati Supersport... Beginner bike? When I think Beginner, I think of a 400 OR a WEAK 600 maybe... but 450lb and 110 hp is what you would pick? Did Ducati send you that drivel??
Jaret, Happy New Year to you and Christina....I hope 2020 will be even better than 2019....thanks again for another great video....that is a gorgeous bike.... te
Nice review. Ducati sends y'all another "loaner" bike. Man, they need to up the anti and just give you guys the bikes. Motorcycle companies, even Harley, give bikes to people that think can help generate interest in their bikes. Come on, Ducati, if Harley can give some bikes away, why not give these bikes to Jaret and Christina? They are respected as athletes, popular, and well respected, as motovloggers, and now T.V. celebrities. Just give them the damn bikes already. They are giving you the best type of advertisement available. You spend millions of dollars a year in advertisements, yet word of mouth is always the best type. Happy New Year to you Jaret and Christina.
haha appreciate that man...maybe one day. For now, we are more than happy to have some bikes for a few weeks to try out and film some videos for you guys :) Happy New Year to you too!

great review and ride, really makes me want to consider this bike in 2020. with a name like supersport I didnt consider it a candidate for comfort as an every day rider...seems to fall into a sport touring/street fighter mold against the likes of the triumph speed/street triples or the yamaha mt9/10 only this is a ducati so its also beautiful
Its funny how in 2023, or when this video was made 3 years ago, a 110 Horse power bike with probably as much power as any bike that existed when I was your age, can be called a beginner bike. I don't know what kind of beginner you are talking about. when I started on motorcycles many years ago people started on bikes like a Honda 175 or a 350. I have been riding bikes for my entire life. started out on the dirt, and I just bought 2019 939 with only 2200 km on it, . and its such a beautiful machine. I am in love with it. and it has plenty of power to get in trouble with. and I love the way it feels and handles. it is stable and confident inspiring. the only thing I don't like is the engine heat, I know in 2023 110 horse power is half of what some other insane bikes have, but beginner it is not. maybe a beginner who at least had one bike before it, what do you think about the 2018 BMW S1000R ? because I also saw one of those for sale with 2400 km. how would you compare it to the Supersport. I know it has allot more power with 159HP.
These bikes have rider modes that detune the bikes down to about half the horse power and they also have safety features that bikes in the past never had with wheelie control, traction control, anti lock brakes etc so its easier than its ever been to start on a bike like this now
Power modes good sir Better suspension, better tires, better abs system, and traction control... Let’s not confuse a commuting motorcycle with beginner bike... It’s like taking a cheap mountain bike on a mountain bike trail with small beginner jumps and drops thinking it’ll last.... They don’t..
A "beginner bike" ... what are you smoking, Dude??? Is that a comment designed to make you sound like you party with Rossi on a regular basis?? I own a 2018 Supersport S and there is no way in hell that I would recommend that bike for a true friend of mine who is a beginner rider. You lose your cred when you make a statement like that, imho --
Dude gets repped by Ducati for riding fast bikes like a gramma. He gets five degrees of lean angle, slams the front brakes, then says "chassis got a little upset". I love my 848 and loved my old Monster but Aprilia or MV gettin my money next time round. Idk wtf happened to this brand.
Hi I'm beginner and starting Learning ... can any one recommend this bike for beginner bike ? If not witch one can you recommend for first bike ? Thank u for great video 😇👍
Super sport is an awesome commuter/ daily rider bike to put a ton of miles on so you don’t have to put a ton of miles on your good bike like your Diavel or Liter bike.
I don’t know if we can call a $13K sport bike with 110hp a bike for beginners. Of course, people can start riding on this but is if recommended? I started riding on a 125cc, then bought a 600cc, then a 900cc etc... and I glad I did, personally.
I love this bike hence why I’m watching the review. Just on the comment its a beginner bike. It’s not, but the reviewer is a clown who wants everyone to think he’s the big man. Not a great review of a bike, but Jar your the coolest.
Good little review dude, to me that bike wasn't a holy shit bike, or blew me away, I enjoyed it to the point of having it as a daily rider. Now what mic setup do you have?
Yes that sounds about exactly how I felt about it too. Great all around fun bike to not get into too much trouble with. I'm using a sena 20s evo system that is connected to my gopro via the sena bluetooth audio backpack. That allows my sena 20s evo mic to record the audio and it puts my intercom conversations on the footage as well.
@@JaretCampisi ah ok, I had that setup and hated it. Well I had it with the 30k using a hero 4 with the sena pack. It would disconnect randomly and I'd loose all my audio. So I went with the gopro adapter and purple panda mic.
I enjoyed the R nine T BUT I'd say try out a Diavel 1260 before you buy anything because I've ridden A LOT of bikes and that is the most fun bike I've ridden to date.
@@JaretCampisi hey man thanks for the reply and that is a gorgeous bike and I'll definitely be going to look at some of those soon but I'm a little worried it's a bit outside my price range only trying to spend around 15K. Again thanks for the advice and love your vids

Thank you for the review. I am considering this as my next bike. I have only been able to see and sit on one at COTA's Moto GP. I want something more sporty and able to take on longer rides compared to my Monster.
I'll be honest I don't consider this to be a great touring bike for longer rides...I'd be much happier on a Diavel 1260 and I can even ride harder and faster on the Diavel as well. I'd recommend that for you over this for what you're describing.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no....why are you test riding and giving a first ride review of christina's Ducati??? We want to see christina do a first ride and review.
Jonathan Esqueda I believe four different tests. However, I took it 20 years ago and now it is all computerized. There are some very good examples of the questions online, so do a search for the test questions. Also, read the free study pamphlet a few times and you won’t have any trouble.
Another great review Jaret 👏👏 although the Supersport S isn’t really floating my boat if I’m honest it looks like a smaller bike aesthetically. I’m also not feeling the cockpit either looks a little bland for me. But hey nevertheless great video 👍🏻
The Ducati Supersport S is definitely a nice bike, but for about the same money you can have a Penagali V2, which is a sicker bike IMO , I think money wise it's even in the R1 range :-)
@@vincentvalerio915 not according to the dealer near me. Rockwell Cycles has em both and there approx a $1000 difference. They have a 2019 SS that's $12,995 when the 2020's are available now. Either way, even if it's 3K more, I would still go for the V2 over the SS if I was going to spend that much $$ 😀✌️
Really, beginner to intermediate? Bikes 20 years ago that had 110hp were considered crazy fast. I can tell you that I have spent a lot of time on a V2 Panigale and this bike. I would take the SS any day over any Panigale for the road. Don't be fooled by the stats on this bike, it is very fast, torquey and very stable. The Panigale's power is all top end and useless on the street. This bike is an absolute blast just like the Hyper. People who buy race bikes for the street are all about look at me. 200hp does you no good on the street especially on a high revving machine. Too many people make the mistake of buying bikes for their stats, HP means squat without balance. Trust me hat this SS is an amazing machine for the street!

Try a naked or more upright bike with power and you will never look back, sport riding with comfort and touring capabilities. No brainer.
@@mechcam796 how tall are you?? I am 6-2 and I am thinking of buying one.
I have a 1999 900SS and I love that bike so much. Great to see Ducati brought the SuperSport back!
Been looking at this bike ,you just convinced me this is the one. Great video
Not a beginner bike. I have had a ninja 400 650 and zx6r. And sss. SSS best one I have had. Very different than Japanese but great
U need to do the hypermotard 950
I definitely will when I have the chance!

I miss Santa Barbara very much. Watching your videos make me feel such nostalgia
oh yeah Santa Barbara is one of the best places in the world. Feel so blessed to live here.
It's so awesome Ducati recognizes what a great channel this is and how much expositor they get! Great work with both of these bikes!
Thanks man never thought this day would come :)
Hey Jaret, for the price, would you go for a V2 over the SuperSport S?
Great video man! I'm a proud owner of a beautiful titanium gray supersport and I just love it. You have useful power even on the track. Keep it up with your reviews and fun videos and say hello to the beautiful Christina.
The 2021 950 S has some very nice upgrades
Fantastic roads ... really feels like we're onboard !
Your going to have to send ducati a Christmas card next year.
Regarding the clip-ons, check out a Honda 929. This is a common technique to deliver a more comfortable riding position on what is essentially a sport bike. Aftermarket addresses this as well.
I think he’s better off checking out the vfr800 it’s closer to this bike than the 929
I've been riding for over 40 years.... i'm not an expert yet.... How long does it take ?, calling a litre sports bike a beginner bike.... really.
937cc Ducati Supersport... Beginner bike? When I think Beginner, I think of a 400 OR a WEAK 600 maybe... but 450lb and 110 hp is what you would pick? Did Ducati send you that drivel??
Jaret, Happy New Year to you and Christina....I hope 2020 will be even better than 2019....thanks again for another great video....that is a gorgeous bike.... te
Thanks brother happy new year to you too!
Bro that bike is sick. Awesome review
Thanks glad you enjoyed it!
Can you tell Ducati to update the Supersport with a new dash and some way to reduce the seat heat.
Seat heat is a big problem. Especially on hot days. Everything else is awesome.
I'm too scared to ride a bike but that is a damn beautiful piece of machinery.
Me: "Damn that neighborhood looks nice, I'm guessing a place there is like $300k?"
My brother walks buy: "Probably a lot more, it's california so that house is probably $700k"
T___T
What communication system do you use for your helmet? Cardo or Sena?
great review and ride, really makes me want to consider this bike in 2020. with a name like supersport I didnt consider it a candidate for comfort as an every day rider...seems to fall into a sport touring/street fighter mold against the likes of the triumph speed/street triples or the yamaha mt9/10 only this is a ducati so its also beautiful
These bikes have rider modes that detune the bikes down to about half the horse power and they also have safety features that bikes in the past never had with wheelie control, traction control, anti lock brakes etc so its easier than its ever been to start on a bike like this now
Is this a good second bike after a 101hp Indian Scout Bobber
Jaret do a review of the new Multistrada 1260S. You will not be disappointed.
I absolutely will when I get the chance!
The Supersport still does 0-60 in 2.5 seconds (or close to that). It can’t be a beginner bike. Too much power. A ninja 400 is a good beginner bike.
Power modes good sir
Better suspension, better tires, better abs system, and traction control...
You lose your cred when you make a statement like that, imho --
Oh the design is so beautiful...
Is like the muchly praised Cbr250rr
Much easier now to understand now why you moved to California . Love all your reviews and extra content All the best in the coming year
haha yeah nothing better than riding year round! And thanks happy new year to you too!
Kept referring to the Diavel, which IMO is a POS - except for straight line touring. Bought a Diavel new and sold it after just 600 miles.
Hey jaret does the 2020 have corner stability?
'Expert level'? Dude your knee hasn't even ever been close being down :D but yeah it's a nice bike
It's not about riding fast it's just relaxing ride
slaudiohawaii isn’t Hawaii the land of car and motorcycle crashes...
@@slhi808 they were bought by Audi In 2010 🤷♀️. Might be why, I started to like them after then but to each there own.
From what I understand, it is the monster frame and motor.
Hi
I'm beginner and starting Learning ... can any one recommend this bike for beginner bike ? If not witch one can you recommend for first bike ?
Thank u for great video 😇👍
If you're beginner better to go bike with cbr or ktm duke.
Please make video on 2020 Dukati 959 v2
Did you have issues with the mirrors vibrating bro?
Another great video 👍 the roads look so good in the USA and plenty of sunshine. Keep up the great work
thanks man glad you enjoyed it!
DUDE ILOVE YOUR VLOGS AND BUILDS ILOVE YOU BRO
Thanks man!
I love this bike hence why I’m watching the review. Just on the comment its a beginner bike. It’s not, but the reviewer is a clown who wants everyone to think he’s the big man. Not a great review of a bike, but Jar your the coolest.
Agreed, I like Jaret he is cool and let's not forget the lovely Christina K, aka Teens
did it power wheelie when he went hard on the throttle?
I’ve had my SSS 2 years now and love it, a great fast bike with the looks.
Is that a seat cowl, or a single seat option?
I like it. I prefer the testastrettas over the superquadros.
Happy New Year to you and your family great vid all the way from Oz👍😎
Thanks happy new year to you too!
Hey what's up Jaret been thinking about getting a new bike. Been looking at the BMW R nine T and the Yamaha xsr900 any advice?
I enjoyed the R nine T BUT I'd say try out a Diavel 1260 before you buy anything because I've ridden A LOT of bikes and that is the most fun bike I've ridden to date.
@@JaretCampisi hey man thanks for the reply and that is a gorgeous bike and I'll definitely be going to look at some of those soon but I'm a little worried it's a bit outside my price range only trying to spend around 15K. Again thanks for the advice and love your vids
Jaret Campisi o
Jaret, you find some bad ass routes; please post your routes in the description (google maps or whatever you use). I live in the area and would love to check them out.
Is it a lot of fun?
Wish I could have that but I'm too far away for superbikes
Thanks for sharing. Lovely scenery out by you guys. I've added this to my Xmas list.
I'd recommend that for you over this for what you're describing.
i own the same model and yup i love it
sweet I wen't to go look for a Supersport S video cuz I wan't one, and a video was posted today 'bout it!
haha there ya go man! They are a great beginner bike definitely take one for a test ride if you get the chance!
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no....why are you test riding and giving a first ride review of christina's Ducati??? We want to see christina do a first ride and review.
She already did
@ oh fuck yeah, i just saw it, didn't know how i missed the notification...???
haha don't worry Christina put up a video of her riding it already on her channel :)
Thanks a bunch 👌❤️
Hey just got my r6 a couple days ago but i cant use it because i dont have my permit. How many questions are on the permit test in california?
From what I remember, there is like 25 questions.
@@BeadsbyNicole oh ok, i thought it was like 50, do you know how many versions of the test there is?
Jonathan Esqueda I believe four different tests. However, I took it 20 years ago and now it is all computerized. There are some very good examples of the questions online, so do a search for the test questions. Also, read the free study pamphlet a few times and you won’t have any trouble.
LastCAPatriot alright, thanks for the help
love the supersport😍nice review👍👍👍

nice bike it needs something green on it ,like green windshield
Define “chilly” day please.
What's the mileage of 2020 diavel s brother??
Bro! Where do you have your GoPro attached to?
Probably a chin mount
Wow it's beautiful out there. What area is this? - Edit: Nevermind! You mention Solvang later on :)
Hey, does the dash display the time also? Thanks
Yes
Love the colors... Thanks for the video.
Another great review Jaret 👏👏 although the Supersport S isn’t really floating my boat if I’m honest it looks like a smaller bike aesthetically. I’m also not feeling the cockpit either looks a little bland for me. But hey nevertheless great video 👍🏻
yeah as I mentioned in the video, to me this feels more like a first or second bike rather than a dream machine like I usually ride.
Jaret Campisi id definitely agree with you brother 👍🏻
The Ducati Supersport S is definitely a nice bike, but for about the same money you can have a Penagali V2, which is a sicker bike IMO , I think money wise it's even in the R1 range :-)
Doug Clarke the V2 makes me drool, but unfortunately my back says noooooooo. 😂
The v2 is a few thousand more than the SSS.
@@vincentvalerio915 not according to the dealer near me. Rockwell Cycles has em both and there approx a $1000 difference. They have a 2019 SS that's $12,995 when the 2020's are available now. Maybe depends on how they are configured? The 2020 SS is about 14-15k. There 2020 V2 is $16,495. Either way, even if it's 3K more, I would still go for the V2 over the SS if I was going to spend that much $$ 😀✌️
Doug Clarke just goes to show no one cares about proper suspension..
Ohlins>Showa
You should do a triumph speed triple build
C'mon Jaret let's see some expert wheelies!🥱
haha I'm not very good at doing wheelies actually...I only really do them when they happen by accident from hard accelerations haha
@@JaretCampisi I thought so😜 that's okay you're still an awesome dude!
Hey bro , what intercom system yaw using ?
sena 20s evo's
God it’s so purty. Have they mentioned if they’re gonna offer the S in the grey color in the future?
I don't know but that grey is gorgeous for sure...white or grey you can't really go wrong
Where is that country road yal were on?
