I've been wondering what happened to this job. Another one I have been thinking about is that big pond job, where you and Tim build the pond and put a road through the middle so they can build a house. Have you been back there? Wonder how things are looking.
i think he may gone back just all the ponds that he did in the last year or so you just have to look back in his videos i know there was like 2 or 3 he had gone back to like the vary big one they did in the summer i think
yes iv been waiting to see the bridge put in on the big pond to see how it finally looked still waiting on the finish and if it was ever finished the bridge i mean maybe by another contract firm ermmmmm...?
11:55 I was actually wondering how close you could get to the edge of the pit without it caving in, and a second later I'm screaming at the monitor "Back Up! Back Up! Back Up!", then realize he was not going over the edge, just tipping over the dirt he had moved. Five minutes later and the adrenaline was finally settling down and pretty much gone by the end of video! Hey Chris, let's keep it less exciting....
Shame about the trench material being placed so close to edge of the trench. Boys need to understand about slip planes and the plane of failure of trenches, even with the nice step batter as all the material being place is a surcharge load on the trench walls
In Australia the main roads tend to use metal pipes but when you see the condition of this metal pipe makes you wonder why concrete pipes are not used if its cost they are worried about the price of replacment should be accounted that pipe would not be 75 years old so to save a penny cost you plenty in replacment factors

Wow .... don’t you have any rocks down there? Up in New Hampshire, ‘you can’t swing a dead cat’ without hitting a significant rock that requires hammering/blasting! Love the videos! Jim
Its NC, in the Piedmont, i believe. Mostly sand and clay. Lots of clay. The rocks are in the western part of the state near Asheville and run along the NC/TN border. Lots of rockslides along I40.
A curious decision to replace only part of a pipe well past its sell-by date. Surely the remainder is in similar condition! I would have thought that a camera inspection would have been carried out, of course, maybe it has.

Mr Spitos you must have never been in a machine when it does that. The pucker factor gets pretty high in those situation. Especially when it is more than you are expecting.
@Mr Spitos I’ll refer you to my previous message. When it “more than you expected”. Stop being a dickhead and a keyboard Troll. The guy who made the comment about the eject button made that comment for the people who have run those machines and felt that tilt before. We knew what he was talking about
Mmm... I would find it hard to believe based on the condition of the first 2 pieces of pipe that the rest of the run was in good enough condition to keep. I would think patching it with a liner is just throwing good money after bad. Not my money though so what do I know... 😆
I can't fathom why it was so deep. Just asking for huge maintenance costs. Good job security for you. Concr pipe would have made more sense better yet could have built a large pond or deep ditch.
Spraying concrete over pipes as a protective layer is common in Europe, works great. I am not certain if it works for this type of pipe, must be sprayed well. First they clean up pipe, then spray it which cuts air from steel and there is no rust. But how will they push out dirt and water from 'rings' in the pipe? Weird.
Have you ever tried running at 6 or 7 instead of 10 just to compare more much less fuel those Volvo's burn? I run Cat's and have then at 6 to 8 depending on what I'm doing, 6 seems to burn about half as much fuel while keeping 3/4 or better productivity
The 36" pipe will probably get a Cured In Place Pipe (CIPP) liner. First time I've heard of CMP getting a liner. Normally it's 100 year old clay mains getting lined.
You look like one of the Wallenda family balancing that machine. I figured that you realign those pipes. With that new technology they can do from 4 to 96 in. Going to trailer park close to me they redid 700 drops in 2 weeks with robots cutting all the connections
If you google earth Red Classic, Shotwell Road, Clayton, NC and scroll the sat. photo back to 2/2018 you can see one of the machines sitting next to the giant hole they dug. LOL
The rest of the pipe is likely to be in a similar state, so I'm giving their "cheaper" repair a year or two then you'll be back. I also think at given what they flush through it they should've used plastic pipe.
Well least you didnt pull the beam back to chance center of gravity and reversed instinctively, then realize armchair do not have joysticks...yet And thats why you dont go near machine or its load when its moving, one instinctive move on operators side will crush you.
