I applaud all those in the TX gov't who rolled the ball and signed off on constitutional carry/permitless carry. It shows a direction, shows what they were thinking. For many folks it will open up carrying on most days for many situations. State executions, open gov't meetings, hanging out in bars or going to a hospital or nursing home aren't usually daily situations. Having said that, TX is a 'shall issue' state. Takes one Saturday or maybe two evenings and about a hundred bucks total to go through the classroom and firing line exercises. Can't remember the cost of fingerprinting, but maybe will set you back a Jackson. It's totally worth it, if even just to exercise the Mia Culpa's now and again (sometimes those 30-aught and red signs are hard to see). It makes traffic stops (the most likely scenario) go a bit easier when you can hand the LEO a driver's license AND an LTC card (former LEO here). In short-- get the LTC. Get 'carry insurance' too. Good video.

I mean...this means I can't shop across the street, or drive by. Are there specific "incidental exceptions" to the rules. I'm from FL and had a license when FL had them and plan to renew it anyway because I travel to TX because so many of my relatives live there... and I want to have proof I meet FL requirements. FL law has some bar regulations, at the bar, at a restaurant portion where are bar is also located...etc.

    1. In Texas, it's still illegal to carry in the premises (in the actual school building) of a school even if the carrier has an LTC, correct?
    2. If #1 is true, the school can provide written authorization to allow said user to carry inside the premises, correct?
    3. If #1 is true, if X bad guy is seen entering a school and Y good guy sees him, he's unable to go into the school and help protect those inside?

Also, in TX we're allowed to carry long guns--if you really want to lug one around all day--without needing a license. Hope that helps. I'm not a lawyer. Former LEO from way back. Just an LTC'er.
