I feed them on my balcony and since then i think they builded 1 or 2 nests more than they already had here, they also holding doves and such on range to my flat, its so nice
"The study found that songbird numbers were no different in places where there were many magpies from where there are few. It found no evidence that increased numbers of magpies have caused declines in songbirds and confirms that populations of prey species are not determined by the numbers of their predators. Availability of food and suitable nesting sites are probably the main factors limiting songbird populations." For anyone who wants to spout off crap about magpies killing songbirds. @@SkyBlue-vp8ne Magpies are songbirds too! They belong to the corvid family and the corvids belong to the songbirds (Passeri). They don't actually sing, but have a subsongs with very soft sounds (for the family) and have lots of different calls. They can even mimic other birds, sound and the human voice.
@@bowdie73 Brilliant answer. 🤣🤣. I had a tame jackdaw for 9 years and almost all my mates called it him. Until SHE started making her nest and laying eggs. 🥚🥚🥚🥚🤣👍
Hi, Sophie is an imprinted bird. She thinks humans are her friends, and as such wouldn't survive in the wild. I assure you that she's very happy, and has never once tried to escape or seemed unhappy.

In wild birds the male must build the nest, and the female either moves in or turns up her beak and goes on to the next guy.
Magpies are life-long monogamous birds.
How do you know for sure, it is a She ? I can't tell for sure, but I suggest it is a He. Nice bird anyway.

These crafty blighters destroyed my hanging baskets by removing the coir matting liners bit by bit to use for nest making!
