- It turns out there's a reason there aren't many videos on RUclips showing bananas being zapped with electricity. But it had to be done for science.
If you look for the hot dog electrocuting videos they are much more dramatic.
If you enjoy these videos you can help support the channel with a dollar for coffee, cookies and random gadgets for disassembly at:-
www.bigclive.com/coffee.htm
This also keeps the channel independent of RUclips's advertising algorithms allowing it to be a bit more dangerous and naughty. Наука
I think you bought 3-phase bananas by mistake. They're never going to cook well on a single-phase supply.
For best results electrocute three bananas in a delta configuration.
I heard it could be the reactive inductance of the bananas as it might act as the inductor as well, therefor turning out to be an energy storage module instead of getting cooked
@@xpumpkins8951 A "Bananattery"

"As soon as I unplugged it, the banana went limp."
That is okay, Clive - it happens to all of us ;-)
i suspect that if you look hard enough you will find someone on the internet using one of these on a "banana" to get it hard instead of limp

When I woke up this morning I didn't expect to hear the phrase "just over 3 and a half watts per banana" today.
Didn't you know that's the amount of power an average banana jack can safely pass?
Do one with the peel on! Just trim the ends so you can get it on the spikes without the inside breaking.
Lol. I still say you need to use pickles. They are quite interesting....
I just logged in to say the same thing. Combine the love for dangerous appliances and the love for unusual lighting fixtures!
Agreed. Pickles need to be next!
Another vote for pickles. Let's see some LEPs.
Yes, Pickles! mharris 1270, you need to seek help. Psychiatric help.
If I recall correctly, pickles glow when electricuted.

Potassium atoms would have been releasing neutrons that could potentially split other potassium atoms, so there really should have been a control hotdog between those two banana rods!

I enjoyed the video. It is 'meh' as far as electrocutions go, but it is informational. I sense a new 'series' - "Is it satisfying to electrocute?"

Hes always fun and informative...lol
RUclips's favourite vegetable to electrocute is the pickled cucumber.
I'm trying to source big enough ones without luck.
Possibly imported ones? I rarely buy them but think there are various sizes available here in Germany.
@@bigclivedotcom Really? Wow - entire pickled cucumbers are quite common here and I know they're easily long enough to work in your electrotorture device - though they're WIDER, so maybe only half as many would fit. (There's even one brand I've often seen in convenience stores - one whole pickle in a plastic pouch, sold as a snack.)
You might need to wait for cucumbers to be in season in the UK before they're available (pickled or not).
bigclivedotcom you know you don’t need ones that will fit the hotdogger just run two wires to it strait from the mains. That is all that hotdogger is doing.
i cant believe there are no real hotdogs in the UK. clive, hot dogs come in vaccuum pack
yeah we have them
frankfurters?
In Australia they're marketed as "American Style" "Skinless" hotdogs, and yeah the good ones come in vac packs
Lidl
Yeah what's with all that hot dog juice they're canned with? 🤢
Interesting that the power factor improved over time.
Those bananas had it coming!
Pickles! Green, moist, salty...highly electrocutable!
Never heard or seen hotdogs in a can or bottle.
Me neither
Never in my life. Other than Vienna sausages
Hi clive its so good to see you again xxx
Your voice is perfect for reading the shipping forecast
Seems obvious pickles should be next.
How about 'cuting some bacon?
I'm getting hungry...
A chicken leg&thigh! Maybe some steak.
The power factor is great, though!
Big Clive, you are a freak. And that's why I love you.
Big Clive - the only channel where you can learn how to do power factor correction on a banana.
Nothing better than coming home at 04:15 in the morning and seeing Clive electrocuting bananas 🍌🍌🍌
You just need to use a bit higher voltage the banana has a lot of resistance due to the fibre between the both the individual cells and the compartments or whatever you call the bits it breaks along when you bend it..
You could try freezing one in it’s skin before electrocuting it that tends to break the cell walls and the compartments and makes them more conductive... or you could just use a thousand volts or more.
I think someone did a paper on the resistivity of bananas at different voltages and different ripeness I will see if I can find it.... I think there was splitting and spitting involved at high voltage with a very ripe banana.
Just do like Bananas Foster and soak them in a butter & brown sugar mix with a splash of Grand Marnier.
Whoever designed those bananas did well. Power factor was perfect.
Damn clive, I hope this will become a new series, electrocuting different food items and taste testing them
Pickles in brine would be magical with all their sparky greatness.

Hi Clive , totally enjoy your channel but the bananas oh the pain the pain lol
Ahh Ga DO DO DO, Plug a pineapple into the mains...
I wonder if you could use your hotdog zapper to replicate Photon's coconut video.
That thing is begging to have a full load of pickles put in it.
I'm sure you already know what happens when you electrocute a pickle, and why electrocuting a half dozen of them at the same time is important.
Loving the technical term 'shit tonnes of current' . Your videos are strangely satisfying!
Hotdogs.
More hotdogs.
Bananas.
Are you getting us ready for anything???
well you could overvolt it, right? Maybe a microwave transformer?
or neon sign transformer
Yes! We know clive has one of those. Whatever doesn't cook will be Lichtenburg art.
Photonicinduction's 20kW supply might be useful for this
I'm sure Clive has a high voltage supply for such an event.
Somebody call Shango066!
I always get excited when I see a big Clive hot dogging video in my feed
One thing to note, while the US doesn't have tinned or jar'ed hotdogs (that's a jar, clive, not a bottle, you numpty), we in the UK have all 3 types: tinned, jarred, and packaged refridgerated. The tinned and jar forms do not need to be kept refridgerated, and have a much longer shelf life than the US package-only approach. That said, in some places in the US you can get vacuum sealed foil hotdogs that have a similar shelf-life, but they're not universally available.
Electric pickles are a visual thing.
In the first video, the instructions said to thaw your frankfurters first.
Maybe don't? 🤔😁
"I'm going to electrocute the bananas"
Only Big Clive
"It had to be done."
Couldn't have said it better myself, Clive, my boy
Try pickles next please.
ok...hotdogs in a jar...WAT!
The most fascinating thing about bananas is the varying length, curvature and thickness, even among the same bunch.
Why is this video so great?
Hey Clive, for salt content try a gherkin (or Dill pickle)
Pickles should be fun in that thing.
You are totally bonkers !! Love it
BigClive you definitely need to do some pickles! I have a feeling we won’t be disappointed.
Pickled gherkins next!!! They glow when suitable voltage & current is applied!!! :D
As for hot bananas, just stick 'em in the microwave (peeled of course) for about 30s, and there you have a nice snack with no electrocution of fruit needed... :P
Gherkins are to small. He will need larger pickles.
Hmm home made sodium lights..🥒
Though any food item that has been "pickled" in brine should light up.
twocvbloke just to be a pedant the microwave would setup a voltage (potential difference) in it every half wavelength (~cm) while it was cooking from the water molecules being jiggled because bananas are quite oily that may actually have a significant effect on the amount of heating... I have been hoping beyond the press, Thunderf00t or someone with a high speed camera would do a slowmo video on a microwave in action
I was hoping you'd post a video of you making your banana explode.
Are you referring to my pink banana?
@@bigclivedotcom yep, as you've already shown us your pink ring.
Here in america they come in plastic vacuum packs. The version that comes in cans are known as vienna sausages and are about 2 inches long.
Well, this is the poster child for demonetization. Serious violation of community guidelines. 😂😉

Try inserting a banger (firework, not sausage) into a banana first. That would make it exciting.

It had to be done...you are correct sir.
They have an awesome power factor btw (as expected)
Pickles are reported to glow at high voltage
I’ve never heard one man say banana so many times in one short video, are you a Minion now, Clive?
So, here comes the banana power supply, where you use the banana as a LED current limiter for a mains power indicator.
As much of a non-event as this was, I found the video to be very engaging. Big Clive always delivers even when the current doesn't.
When i saw the words "banacuting" I thought this cant go well 😂 great video
The changes in power factor are exciting. Perhaps intact bananas have partially capacitive impedance, like gelatin. I recently measured gelatin impedance and read research papers on this topic.
I so like big Clive so enjoy his videos
I have seen the little “cocktail” hotdogs in cans but in the US hotdogs are in general a refrigerator case item.
This machine is gift that keeps on giving... you should make series out of it and electrocute diffrent foodstuffs :D
How about a review of a Hornby R8250 Standard Train Controller? they seem to overheat and shutdown a lot, and dont seem that long lasting?
question . if the item being electrocuted is touching the lid will the user get a shock if they touch the lid?
No. It's insulating plastic.
