  • It turns out there's a reason there aren't many videos on RUclips showing bananas being zapped with electricity. But it had to be done for science.
If you look for the hot dog electrocuting videos they are much more dramatic.
If you enjoy these videos you can help support the channel with a dollar for coffee, cookies and random gadgets for disassembly at:-
    www.bigclive.com/coffee.htm
This also keeps the channel independent of RUclips's advertising algorithms allowing it to be a bit more dangerous and naughty.

You just need to use a bit higher voltage the banana has a lot of resistance due to the fibre between the both the individual cells and the compartments or whatever you call the bits it breaks along when you bend it..
You could try freezing one in it’s skin before electrocuting it that tends to break the cell walls and the compartments and makes them more conductive... or you could just use a thousand volts or more.
I think someone did a paper on the resistivity of bananas at different voltages and different ripeness I will see if I can find it.... I think there was splitting and spitting involved at high voltage with a very ripe banana.

One thing to note, while the US doesn't have tinned or jar'ed hotdogs (that's a jar, clive, not a bottle, you numpty), we in the UK have all 3 types: tinned, jarred, and packaged refridgerated. The tinned and jar forms do not need to be kept refridgerated, and have a much longer shelf life than the US package-only approach. That said, in some places in the US you can get vacuum sealed foil hotdogs that have a similar shelf-life, but they're not universally available.

Hey Clive, for salt content try a gherkin (or Dill pickle)

BigClive you definitely need to do some pickles! I have a feeling we won’t be disappointed.

Pickled gherkins next!!! They glow when suitable voltage & current is applied!!! :D
As for hot bananas, just stick 'em in the microwave (peeled of course) for about 30s, and there you have a nice snack with no electrocution of fruit needed... :P

    • @jaxjackson4100
      @jaxjackson4100 5 лет назад

Gherkins are to small. He will need larger pickles.
      Hmm home made sodium lights..🥒
Though any food item that has been "pickled" in brine should light up.

twocvbloke just to be a pedant the microwave would setup a voltage (potential difference) in it every half wavelength (~cm) while it was cooking from the water molecules being jiggled because bananas are quite oily that may actually have a significant effect on the amount of heating... I have been hoping beyond the press, Thunderf00t or someone with a high speed camera would do a slowmo video on a microwave in action

Here in america they come in plastic vacuum packs. The version that comes in cans are known as vienna sausages and are about 2 inches long.

The changes in power factor are exciting. Perhaps intact bananas have partially capacitive impedance, like gelatin. I recently measured gelatin impedance and read research papers on this topic.
