I have had the wonderful privilege to meet Bruce twice. The most nice, witty, polite and humble gentleman you could chat with indeed. This video of him making a mistake just confirms even more as to how he can make fun of himself, be humble and yet come forward to make a very entertaining comedic response to where some entertainers would be upset and cringe. This man is absolutely the best!
What an absolute hoot! Great to see the comedy side of this but also knowing these guys are wonderful musicians. Keep it coming fellers, really loved this and how lucky those people are that were there, magic show!
Bruce is a rare talent. The way he mixed rhythm guitar with Tony's drums--fantastic. And the songs he wrote for Cliff, wonderfully melodic. Lead guitar here is very good. He has the sound and make the guitar a thrill when he starts the deep notes. Excellent, this.
Hi Monia - Thanks for the subscription. I was just lucky to be able to video the shows I'm sure if the lads look in they would very much appreciate your comment. Kind regards... Phil
Great playing I did 6 shadowmanias and Bruce being the perfectionist he is did this a couple of tones if he or Phil Kelly made a boo boo about 3 times in stardust a couple of years before which he eluded to. Please remember that shadows fans are hyper critical of anybody that isn’t hank and yes they are not the great man and don’t have his phrasing or timing you have to take your hats off to them for having the bottle to get up and give their best. Miss shadmania very much.
@goranade Hi Goran - Just proves he's human like the rest of us.. I too am always making mistakes - It must be a nightmare playing at Shadowmania where half the audience are guitarists are watching your every move. !! Cheers Phil
Surely that wasn't Bruce " messing up" was it? Yes it was and he stopped the band which was hilarious and made a point of getting it right. Such a funny lovely guy. I'm thoroughly enjoying all of the numbers these guys are playing.
He does a great job .. but Hank owns it .. I have been playing Shadows for 30 years .. still can't nail Hanks phrasing & timing .. btw he made the mortal sin of stopping .. but Bruce can do what he likes .. now.
He was / is, the most NORMAL and human of all the shadows' members over the years. Not known for egotism, alcoholism, drugs, into other guys wives (literally) or a religious idiot. Always a good sense of humour. I loved that remark he made some years ago about Cliff Richard, ''well he has nothing else to worry about except when he gets up in the morning, looks in the mirror to see if he looks good.
Class although I did hear a choked note from the lead guitar no reflection on him he is brilliant but the guitar needs setting up you see him trying to retune unfortunately that won’t do it
Lol.... when the rhythm guitarist forgets his parts in the middle of the performance....!!!! XD I don't know whether this was done purposely or not..... Or did Bruce really do the mistake? XD
+John Smith About what, dude? I hope it isn't about him playing the wrong chords. Because, if it is, gimme a break. The guy is 75 years old, he is entitled to the right of making some mistakes in this stage of life. This is a festival, not a live DVD recording, like the one from the 2004 Final Tour.
What a melody ! What sweet chord progressions ! How beautifully played by the greatest instrumental group of all time ....and now superbly covered !!!
Bruce is the best!He is a gentleman, and for me over 50 years an idol!Thank you!
Istvan
I have always been loving Bruce Welch so good rhyming guitarist and very charming

This has to be my best Shadow tune, I just love it.

Awesome band! Great rhythm playing :)

My favourite Shadows tune by a long way - What a guy Bruce Welch - only human after all
Even Bruce can make misstakes as I do every time I play. I just loved it.
Goran

Shadowmania still happens under a different name (Celebration of the Shadows) although it's not the same without Bruce :-(
I like the video,,,,,,,,,,,,,,all the best from Holland
regards, tonio
Love Bruce so much my favourite Shadow
beautiful wrist work....so soft and gentle
@mrsky1962 Hi Steve - great to hear from you. Glad you liked it.
Cheers Phil
@QbrianT I agree - best to make a joke of it - smashing atmosphere and loads of fun.
Cheers Phil
I like it very much, good sound, funny and I enjoyed it.
Love it! Bruce doesn't know it but he taught me to play rhythm guitar (Buddy Holly helped too!)
Brilliant fun, very enjoyable. Just as it should be.
Brian
1 faute d'accord sur toute sa vie de musicien , merci a toi bruce welchs et les shadows tu as bercer ma jeunesse a l'age de 8ans et 63 aujourd'hui .
Lol. Awesome. ❤
Bruce Welch is lovable.
personne n est parfait.... mais toujours aussi bon...........
Vous avez bien raison, Mme Silvie !
Great video
Bruce is cooool!
Really good, Loved it.

love you
Please upload the rest!
spot the bum note time lol great stuff!
Wonderful video, does anyone from Barnet remember Mike Stevens & the Sapphires?
He is a normal guitar player ,the best makes misstakes .He is the rythem king.
Top boy Bruce.👍
He did Hank proud
Cool and got a laugh too.
This would be one of my top 3 Shadows' tune - Atlantis...
Fuck ! those old vox amps are the heart of the shadows ...
If Bruce Welch can make a mistake what chance do we have.

@QbrianT
¡¡¡Oh, que mano derecha!!!
so entertaining Bruce witty, Funny
Even the greats (Bruce Welch of The Shadows) can forget a chord progression, and are not ashamed to admit it.... So, can you blame me if I do?
If you can’t hide it highlight it.
Haha fabulous
I didn't even know Aemon Holmes could play guitar.
Class although I did hear a choked note from the lead guitar no reflection on him he is brilliant but the guitar needs setting up you see him trying to retune unfortunately that won’t do it
The bridge pickup tone here is very trebly, Hank would cut off a bit of this treble
The MAN himself was missing: Hank Marvin
He was I could tell ❤❤
OK, I'm a Shadows fan, but the lead guitarist and the sound is not how Hank played it back in the day.
I like that. Nobody can capture Hank’s touch. How it should be.
A touch of compression would of made the lead guitar a bit less ice picky eh.
Lol.... when the rhythm guitarist forgets his parts in the middle of the performance....!!!! XD
I don't know whether this was done purposely or not..... Or did Bruce really do the mistake? XD
Who's in the band?
Phil Kelly - Lead guitar and Vocals
Alan Jones - Bass Guitar
Cliff Hall - Keyboards
Bob Watkins - Drums
@@random275 thanks so much
Bruce, I hope you were only joking. Please don't destroy your reputation..

I love the Shadows and Bruce is great but sometimes it's better to simply retire and keep your dignity.
+John Smith
You genuinely believe he hasn't played the wrong chords at a live show in the past? Get real for heaven's sake!
invisible1955 Never heard a wrong chord before from Bruce, only muddled vocals in Eurovision.
...and we all thought that he was miming...
donde está hank
nadie puede tomar su lugar de la nada
Never going to sound like hank
Bruce made one mistake but the lead guitarist made more than one. That's live playing for you. LOL!
He was great but he's not Hank
Za durzo mowisz
Who's the chubster impersonating Hank?
Phil Kelly.
He is great, plays it better than Hank.
@@richard21995 better than Hank? Really?
@@richard21995 Phil is great, but better than Hank...? Come on!
@@richard21995 You are a disgrace. Hank number one!! How dare you!! 😡😡
Brilliant fun, very enjoyable. Just as it should be.
