I think Rosa's engagement with the person of focus (to her; whoever that may be) is part of what makes Alita tick. The consistent, nearly unblinking eye contact, the uninterrupted focus, the invested body language... Knowing, really *knowing* someone is listening or that someone cares is a powerful thing that Miss Salazar carries effortlessly.

...Not all people can "de-touch" the focal point and the focal distance in their minds. That means while you keep changing the views of your vision distance (as you cross or straight you line of sight for each eye), you still have to focus the optics in your eyes to the same equidistant surface.
Now... in theaters to create the "immersion" effect, they set the parallax angles sou you feel that the objects are in front of the screen. Otherwise you would have the "looking through a window" effect. The people with a strong focal reflex are nauseated by the discrepancy between focal point and real distance.
On the other hand, when you watch it at home, you have the option (if you have a good quality 3D set) to set the parallax distance BEHIND your screen plane. Of course you need a nice big screen to keep the "feeling" in this case.
By using this method I was able to watch movies at home with friends who cannot enjoy 3D in theaters.
(Also, it is about BAD directing. I have seen so far only 2 directors with proper 3D filming technique. Peter Jackson and James Cameron. The others are frauds. Honestly. (Those butchers are the reason 3D has bad reputation. It is a marketing stunt for them, and not an art-form.)
When you create a 3D movie, you have to emulate REAL sight. Some places are IN focus, some objects are OUT of focus. Just as when you are in the real world. So, the director has to choose the focal point, and guide the vision of the viewer to THAT point. If you are a GOOD director, you can do it, and the "I am inside the movie" feeling will be complete without nausea, because (MAGIC) the chosen focal point will be consistent with the screen. Alita is the BEST 3D experience so far.)

I'm 95% sure we'll get at least one sequel and I'd be surprised if we don't get a full trilogy. James Cameron loves Alita and is arguably the most powerful director in the film industry. He wrote and directed both of the highest paid movies in history and he owns the rights to Alita so if Dicksney wants to fuck with the franchise after the Fox merge, they'll have to get past him first. Since he's a friend of George Lucas and witnessed the destruction of Star Wars, he's not going to hand the rights to a company that he knows is corrupt. If Jim wants to make a sequel, he'll make it and nothing short of death is going to stop him.

Rosa made me cry in this movie. It was such a passionate movie. And some of the coolest action I've seen since Ip Man. The clips used in this particular video look like the unfinished product. It look 100x better in the actual film.

You can have the best script, the best cgi and the best action scene, but if the actor fails to reach the audience, the entire film fails...This kinda made my eyes feel strange, and Im a guy ;D

Big. Things should happen for Rosa Salazar. It takes a special talent to being a CGI creation to believable life.

I think Andy Serkis has found his equal peer. She's injecting so much life and spontaneity that livens up the CG character. Even when she's speechless.

@@deadstar44 Top 3 motion capture performers.
      1. Rosa Salazar (She's more subtle than Andy Serkis and that gives her an edge.)
      2. Andy Serkis (He's basically the father of motion capture acting but he tends to ham it up a bit.)
      3. Josh Brolin (Thanos. Need I say more?)

The story of Rosa's audition is new to me and I believe it because that instant 'electricity' she described carried through to the performance and even this interview. It's the mystery ingredient which makes Alita an outstanding collaboration. R (Australia)

Is Rosa a pet owner or dog lover? Her character had a natural connection to the dog in the film. (Update: In Jake Hamilton Alita interview she notes at 19, she adopted her dog Gigi and took her to NYC early in her career)

I was sad too. I've seen the movie twice so far and cried both times. It was a sweet teenage romance and Alita was close to saving him which means she'll blame herself for failing. The only problem I have is that they go from Hugo's death straight to Alita becoming Motor Ball Champion so you barely have time to absorb the fact that she's lost a loved one.
