    I think you’ll be the fastest man in the world within 2 years!! 100 and 200!! You are so dang strong, mentally, spiritually and physically. That is what will put you ahead of USA’s “#1” guy, he who shall not be named…
    I hope your pro coaches talk to you about your left arm swing and possibly/borderline too high of knee drive. Sooo nitpicking I realize, but of any man on earth right now who I want to see break the 200m world record, it is YOU! So thankful you’re in track and field and run for the USA.

  • @michaelstout5218
    @michaelstout5218 День назад +1

    I'm confused on the volume of the workout. Was it 3 sets of 10x100m. Surely it wasn't a total of 30x100m, was it? If so, I had no idea sprinters did that much volume. Also, was the goal pace something like 15-16"? Thanks for any clarification from Kenny or anyone else who understood it better than me. It's really great that this content is available from an Olympian.

    Old school music and old school training session/workout. Absolutely no scientific basis for running slow repeat 100s for a sprinter. Thankfully you're incredibly fast anyway.

    • @Leonidas-eu9bb
      @Leonidas-eu9bb 2 дня назад

      Training to train.. At the elite level there are very very view training session that will set a stimuli. So it's logical that most sessions are for preparation. You can do 2-3 hard sessions a week. But maybe it's better to aim for one really intense session every other week. I think too many athletes and coaches make this mistake.

    • @tchai91
      @tchai91 2 дня назад

      I bet that Kenny doesn’t even know why he was doing this session. It’s mind-blowing how many elite athletes do pointless training because ‘that’s always what’s been done’. He mentioned how sore he was, so just take a day off. I realize this is completely counter-intuitive to a competitive athlete (and I’ve fallen into this trap many times myself), but this session is not helping anything.
      If I was Kenny’s coach, even at this time of the year, I would be working tirelessly on his starting and top-end speed through sleds/Exergenie/sand sprints/plyos, wicket runs etc. That’s where Kenny loses his races….the start, pickup and top-end speed. He had the slowest top speed in the 100m final and he regularly gets chased down by Lyles in the 200 (and did by Tebogo in Paris). Conventional track wisdom suggests that that has to be remedied by longer reps and yet more speed endurance, but I believe having a more efficient and powerful start and better top-end speed means he would pull away earlier in the 100 and expand less energy on the bend in the 200 and let him power away down the straight.

    • @Leonidas-eu9bb
      @Leonidas-eu9bb 2 дня назад

      @tchai91 I can hear you. I'm also a believer in top speed over everything. And acceleration is the foundation of top speed. But maybe as I said it's a preparation session. Now as I think I have some experience, I believe it's really not about winning the moment but peaking when it counts the most. It's really difficult for the coach for such elite guys. At the end it's all about fitness and confidence. At least this is better than lifting weights with no purpose.
      Maybe this is counterproductive who knows. most athletes peak so early I their early 20s.. Maybe all this training afterwards is not working. Maybe the human organism cant deliver year after year. Even Bolt wasn't ont top all the time. But he was the goat of peaking! He delivers when it counts the most. No indoors. No good season opener. But from July to September he showed up big time!

      GPP phase. Builds mitochondria and capillaries to enhance recovery in workouts to come in the next phases of training. Prepares tendons and soft tissues. It’s a long season for a legit pro sprinter. it’s called periodization, and this stuff is in the scientific literature, I believe this workout could be called a form of extensive tempo.
