    Thanks for the memory. I’ve walked some of this route and visited the pump house and Middleton Top. Really love the canal andHigh Peak Junction although it was closed when I visited it.

    This is a great video Patrick. I've never seen any footage of this southern end of the Cromford And High Peak Railway in recent times. I have videos of when the line was in operation up until its closure in 1967, but it's amazing to see it as it is nowadays, more or less as a walking trail. There are some lovely views too, on this video, looking towards Matlock, and Wirksworth is a beautiful place. Nice to see that the engine houses have been preserved, after all those years. Many thanks for this production

      Thanks again Ffranc. This was filmed in 2015, and I was driving around and walking to these various locations, hence why this film covers a wider area. I'm glad too that they preserve these old engine and pump houses. Thanks as always for watching 👍

    Another cracking video Patrick! I love the High Peak Trail and Black Rocks. I haven't been for a while, but it was one of the first walks I went on in my early 20s.

    Very entertaining this Patrick , i wasnt aware of the high peak trail , so i ve learnt something today ... i loved the inclines and all those old tunnels , i ve always had a soft spot for walks that have been made or cycle paths which run along old track beds ...Wirksworth , looks really nice and of course i loved the church and the history around it mate.... l ooking forward to the next installment of this trail when you walk to tissington ... Thank you so much , Regards ... Frank and lee ..

      I've sometimes posted this video in links as an example to new viewers of my films as I feel it's one of my better efforts. I like the variety featured in this film. Filming a trail along a disused railway line could have been quite laborious, so featuring the old pump houses, stations, canal, tunnel as well as Wirksworth and its church added something extra to it. Glad you enjoyed it Frank and Lee and thanks for taking a look. Cheers, Patrick :-)

    Possibly the best pub in Derbyshire,well there alone is reason enough to do this walk,followed at the end by another Royal Oak with huge food portions,hope you enjoyed your pint.
    Never done the High Peak trail and knew little of it,this film as always had given me lots of information and what to see when I do get round to it.
    Thanks Patrick,wonderful as always.
    Pete.

      I've not been in the Royal Oak in Wirksworth for a while now, but it's one of those pubs that never seems to change over the years. The pub with the same name at Hurdlow I've probably not been inside for about 10 years now, but yes the portions were astronomical! Thanks Pete for watching as always :)

    Woohoo Wirksworth my home town! Patrick as always a lovely production. In all my adventures along the High Peak Trail I have never made it to Hurdlow, always seem to turn around at Parsley Hay. I have to admit at not commenting as I should on your videos, they are all so well put together, beautifully shot and extremely informative. Oh and didn't realise you were so local either...Atb Nige.

      Thanks Nige! I did actually think about you whilst I was out filming this last year having known that several of your own videos have been along the High Peak Trail. And yes I'm pretty close to this neck of the woods! Cheers, Patrick :-)

      Is there a connection to George Eliot here? Thought I remembered a blue plaque on a house when I visited a few years ago.

    • @FreshAyers
      @FreshAyers 2 года назад +1

      @@kathrynbrock1558 Yes the house (now a shop) where you saw the plaque was the house of one of the characters from her novel "Adam Bede" was inspired by Wirksworth. Also of note is Haarlem Mill in Wirksworth is supposed to be the location for "Mill on the Floss" another of her novels.
