Cool idea, but i dont know if i would keep fish in this🤔
@Andrew Humphrey Assuming they gave it a lot of rinsing it would be fine. Aquarium hobbyists have been using styrofoam and cement as background decorations for years now. It raises PH, but you can let it leech into the water and change it out over the course of a month until it becomes tolerable for fish (and eventually almost completely inert).
Also the fish looks like mollies/platys and you can practically drop them into anything short of raw sewage and they'd be fine. They are extremely hardy so even if the above rinsing didn't happen they are likely fine.
The bigger issue is that the size of that 'tank' is for at max two, maybe three fish, not the 8 that were dumped in.
Damn that filter gonna be a pain in the ass to clean though. With no lid, water changes shouldn’t be too hard. Looks awesome! I wish I had the time and patience for a project like this!
I mean its not really a filter its kinda just a pump
That’s the most difficult easy thing I’ve seen. 😁
Cool video
looks nice, it deserves real plants - also the fishes :)
2:36 when he could have inserted the wire prior to attaching the lid, he wouldn't have to cut it 😔😔😔
Exactly what I thought :D
Yea I was like what was the point of that 😅
awesome idea but always always always make sure you properly cycle a tank before adding fish. also keep in mind that some paints/chemicals can harm fish.
Whose watching this just to see how cool it is and doesn't want to build it because you're too lazy to create it or go shopping for the items?
Lol someone with smart with money to go out an buy something pre built this fancy/cool would probably just build it them selfs to .. you don't get anywhere blowing your money it's called diy
When I count all item cost, I can buy a new real Aquarium.
Everyone that’s complaining, you all do realize they use sealants to make aquariums, maybe not cement, but think about the cement ( man made) pond with fountains in certain cities that have fish living in them. Give him a break! He said the fish are just fine 🐟
Did you coat that in cement ? If so it will raise the ph and kill the fish. Also cement is pourous and what sealant did you use .For the video the result looks ok but give it a week and post a video of it !
That was this is a bs project wich is torturing the poor fish
oyster shell raises the hardness of the water too
@@TheJesusAlejandra 😂😂
Cement is neutral.
@@askeen8796 no its not ,its a very high alkaline on the ph scale.
Гениальная идея! Я в восторге, очень красиво и натурально😊
The video is awesome. I will try to do it. Thanks for your idea. ❤️❤️🌷🌹🌹🥰🪴🥰😍😍😍😍😍😍
So gorgeous 🙌🏽 Idk if this would work in real life but GREAT VIDEO!!!!!
Probably easier to stick Styrofoam on an existing rimless tank.
Exactly!
I first thought thats what this is
Exactly what i just mentioned in another thread and also dont have to worry about leaks (in a DIY job) or the chemicals used or styrofoam leeching into the water over time.
Easier but not as much fun
I think I dated her in high school.
Just imagining the foam box 's sound while getting shaped is driving my anxiety up
Ttae why would you say that
@@gabriellamf3812 Don't get me wrong. I love how creative this little aquarium is but just saying, styrofoam is triggering to listen to
Nice and affordable, as well as not safe for the fish. However, the reason it's not safe. Is because of the foam. You need to have the glass all the way around, and not just the two sides. It has to cover the foam, the foam is what's toxic as we as the paint you put on it.
Moonshadow I think the paint is a cement that is fish safe, I’ve seen the king of DIY and others use it before
Agree with you... but the tank is it self is goo
Good
Moonshadow that’s cement not paint 🤦♂️
Un Arte Muy Hermoso Me encanta Trabajos Dios te bendiga 😄😀😄😀
சூப்பராக இருக்கிறது மீன் தொட்டி🤝👌👌👍👍😍💐
It’s really pretty but not safe and healthy for the fishes
But why😒😒
Dude! I literally had that idea! But your’s is soooooo sweet lookin!
UNconventional Me - I THOUGHT someone was watching me in the shower! Thanks for the compliment though.
Casually makes a death cable, sure kids try this at home.....
He did it by the books
Saw that cable snip and needed to read the comments shit made my stomach turn lol
This has to be a joke. Not safe and possibly poisonous to anything living in there. Also not cost efficient or "cheap" once you've bought all these tools and supplies. Can get glass tanks for half the price.
Infamous Truth, those are my sentiments exactly. Well said. I’d add that the remaining styrofoam will be impossible to clean algae from, won’t it? I’m not digging the aesthetics either. 👎
I liked the idea of the pump, changing the plants for real ones, making sure that the sementmixture is sealed.. But mostly, moss growing on the top there, crawling over the sides...
I thought it was a cool idea
I would do this with out any water, and just plants. It would work good as a little terrarium. Maybe seal the foam before cementing it?
Proto Hipster it seems to work well with 50-50 mix of water and grape juice. The esthetics are really something. There’s an added benefit in that water changes only require a straw and a thirsty friend. Is it me or is it getting dark in here? Could I have an extra blanket? These pills taste pretty yummmmmmy but
@@garya3056 I already made it. But I used chopped up human remains, pineapple juice, and cauliflower.
So beautiful... Absolutely beautiful. You have just inspired me. Thank You so much, you're awsome.
very calming and satisfying to watch
Im not sure if the foam will hold the pressure of the waters weight and acrylic overtime turns yellow
Hi there!!! Foam will hold the pressure, and you need little maintenance to prevent acrylic turns yellow. Without maintenance glass Aquarium also turns into yellow.
Came to RUclips for something completely unrelated ..... ended up watching this ....... damn RUclips.
🤣 most accurate thing ever. And yeah I watched til the end 😏
Probably with careful use of the cement sealer & perhaps another inert sealer too, you can avoid toxicity to the fish, like the outside can be roughed up but the inside, as long as "not foam coloured" could still be correctly sealed
Very creative.I don't have the patience to build that.
That is beautiful and a great way to reduce useful materials from winding up in landfills. Now I know what to do with boxes from Omaha steaks! Thank you for sharing! 😊❤
. One of the the greatest threats to the environment right now is non biodegradable materials getting into the environment. One use food and beverage containers and shipping materials are huge contributors. Not enough businesses and manufacturers are making a worthy effort, if any, to recycle or find alternative materials. They put minor costs above killing the planet! Millions of tons of styrofoam is used every year to ship perishables, medical supplies and animals yet less than half gets recycled. This is why Steven Hawking said that repurposing materials for long term use is one of the best things we can do, as individuals, to help the environment right now. This is is exactly what he is doing in the video!! Or do you think he should throw the styrofoam box and plants out??? Btw you can get aquarium plants made from recycled materials. LOL
i breed and keep fish in plastic...10 years now and no problem. haters ALWAYS gonna hate
Love the creativity in this project but pretty PLEASE don't leave the fish in there..... Great looking even without fish!!
Its 1am in the morning why am I watching this? Cuz honestly the vid looked cool
It's both a fountain and an aquarium.
Nicely done on this.🙂
It’s a great concept! With the right materials, this could be a great looking tank.
Thank you so much. Please hit the notification icon and never miss our video
So much easier to go out & buy used tank & equipment...& inexpensive. Also easier to clean.
Agreed however to add the rock look you could do the first part of this video and use the cooler arpund the glass part of an actual tank. Just seems a better and safer alternative for fish or aquatic animals. I would use a used tank and pretty much do the cooler to fit the outside and decorate as such as the video. Would insulate the actual tank in colder months as well plus add the whole look that this vid goes for, without alot of the hassle and not having to worry about how the chemicals added to the styrofoam cooler will leech into the water system over time because it would never be in the water
I build almost the same thing but I seal off the concrete with liquid rubber and allow it to dry completely for at least a week. The concrete doesn't have to be sealed but then the cement needs to be in water for 6 weeks to leach out the alkaline, before adding fish.
It's really beautiful, I wish I could have one, but I don't have that craft, I really envy your ingenuity and craftsmanship.
Nice to have such passionate viewers like you... Thanks mate 👍
You can get an even finer rough texture in poly styrene (styrofoam) if you spritz it with anything petroleum based (spray paint is a good example). It will melt slightly on contact, making small pock marks. If you'd like to make a larger version, you can also use wire brushes for faster results than the sculpting tool you chose, and a hot soldering iron (or similar, like the one you used to make the holes for the pipes) for deep depressions and cracks, plus hot wire bow for making cuts (much easier and faster than a blade). I highly recommend the Aden Hynes sculpture studio videos here for ideas and techniques, they're very knowledgeable and share a lot of useful tips.
Thanks for the valuable comment, much appreciated. 🙂

Chicago galaxy ok give me a minute and I will. I gotta open this window. There was a very long line at the butcher’s and I slipped on the sawdust and I thought Angelo giggled a little. This whole thing has me confused. And for that matter this hole thing does as well. Ok I’m out. The druggist called.

Wow nice idea. Thanks for sharing this video.
aku pecinta aquarium ,jempol for you nice
Doesn't the cement change the water parameters for a while?
Do not put the fish right away. Wait for 1-2 days and keep the system on. Seashell is a vital calcium, cement also has properties that helps fish sustain. Rest of the ecosystem will provide for itself.
Yes , it will indeed make the water harder.
You can always soak it over a few day's several times.
@@jordangarneau3022 lol!
@@RusticKraftChannel that is absolutely false. You didn't even cycle it.
Isn't the styrofoam toxic? the concrete and oyster shell will screw up the water peramaters.
The fishes are doing fine and it has been a month since I made this video.
Most aquarium backgrounds you buy are made of styrofoam already. And concrete is used alot with the DIY spray foam background. No problems at all
Great idea, tank a bit small for the fish
ah it’s too small for those fish
0ofadagoose Ion even think the tank is healthy for the fish

I love this idea my wife gets her meds in these boxes every 3 months now i can use one in this way
Great 👍👍
As a reef keeper something tells me that this is extremely toxic not to mention fragile and only big enough for a beta if you build this please seal it several times with some kind of pond seal
Yeah I wouldn't. It's still just mostly styrofoam and would not hold up to the weight of the water over time. Just get a small tank.
I wouldn't recommend cement is bad for the fish and that will break pretty easy considering you can make the water leak by poking it with a pencil in the long run its a bad idea
Hand Drawn Construction can’t you just buy a jock strap like everyone else?
This is amazing and I hope the fish are doing well
They most likely died if they stayed in there.
Theres chances they were just put in there for show and removed again, they may have made it in that case
Most likely dead.
Richard you mean the videographer?
I was getting ready to write bad things when I first started watching this!........ but that end result was bloody brilliant
Wow great craft
Dont build this when you want your tank to be alife! Everything you put in there will die!
Its a good idea for a design, its nice to look at. I could imagine this being fine without any fish because the materials seem to be very toxic. Its also way too small for fish. Its always better to use organic materials and real plants because your water needs to be a balanced biologic systhem. Plus i personally would be paranoid about this being waterproof.. Doesnt look very safe to put water into a styrofoam box.
How do u feel about pet smarts tanks
@@Doggiegeorge. well there not made of styrofoam and unsafe paints or cements.
You can technically replicate the entire design, making for to use pondsafe/aquarium safe materials. I forget the exact brands and names, but they are used for coating/painting/sealing plywood aquariums, ponds, paludariums and foam decor. Cement has to be coated and sealed because it’ll impact the pH like mad!
KeaveMind tanks alot!
we ate processed food and died too, yet? A few fishes, kids are starving everywhere appreciate the video while you can lol
Cool idea
Had to cut the volume all the way down but this is an interesting concept if only it were non toxic for the fish but thumbs up for the creativity
Woww !!!...che bella idea !!!...bel lavoro !!!.. è bellissimo! !!...complimenti! !!
Bit of a poisoning environment
TheTbet my thought too! I didn’t think he would put real fish in there but however the creativity of this creation is fantastic!
Exactly 👎

@@garya3056 Rsss...Congratulations...
Alex Cavalcanti thx! (Bows politely during applause...)
Really nice
Extremely creative
Very nice
So simple, I'm going out tomorrow to buy stuff for just this project
Don't put anything bigger than a beta and seal it with several layers of pond liner, as a rule of thumb too many/big fish=toxic, and exposed cement/styrofoam=toxic seal it with a pond sealer
That's even too small for a beta to love happily five gallons at least is recommended
@@wesbrackmanthercenthusiast4695 I commend all the well meaning aquarists knowledgeable and fish caring comments. Just a thought though people, if you eat meat say chickens and/or pigs in particular are kept in tiny cages with concrete, or slatted metal floors, feed their piglets through metal bars to stop the the pi£lets don't get squashed. On top of all that they are pumped with antibiotics that makes humans more likely to get Ill and increased resistance to antibiotics.
Signed, not a vegan.
spinny2010 right so therefore make your aquariums from congealed pigs blood? Do I understand you correctly?
@@garya3056 obviously not. I am saying that there are quite a few comments, it's cruel coz the tank is too small, the fish will be poisoned by the materials used etc. Just pointing out that while people are feeling empathetic towards a handful of fish on a YT video, the factory farmed meat industry is way crueler, we just don't see it. Pigs have intelligence and emotions beyond that of dogs. Just something to think about. Why care about one type of animal and not another, as many don't consider it.
magnificent very beautiful
Thanks brother

Just imagining the noise of cutting foam is giving me chillds
Bro how abt Cleaning?? It will b a great task to get this thing cleaned. The cemented walls will have lot of algae accumulated on the inner corners. But no doubt the tank looks great. 👌🏼
Put some algae eaters inside, you won't have to clean it in years... And original plants will also help balancing the ecosystem.
The fish known as “algae eaters” aren’t the only thing you should recommend to people, the most common fish and mistreated one in the hobby is the Common Plecostomus, so many people buy them because of Ignorant people not doing research, you need to do water changes at least once a week, and that tank is more or less under 10 gallons and a “algae eater” would outgrow it very easily. You can literally do 5-10 minute research on this stuff, I’ve known for quite some time now but I just wanna make sure you don’t spread false info to people like that.
@@mochicappuchino8570 well said...so true
RusticKraft Channel wrong asf😂 thats like 2-4 gallons of water, you could possibly get some shrimp in there to help some but “algae eaters” are not going to fix the problem especially in something as small as this. Not to mention any “algae eaters” as you call them😂 i know of need at least 10 gallons of water. This setup is also doomed from the start considering there is no really bio filtration going on or air stone to keep the water O2 levels high enough for a fish to live in. I have owned one goldfish and from this have acquired actual knowledge and experience in fish keeping, all anyone has to do is do a quick search on google to find this information. STOP SPREADING FALSE INFORMATION ON SHIT YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT.
Algae Eaters ? Animals should never put to solve any problem. Didn t u know ?

Styrophome for one. Toxins in the paint for another. Electrocution because he severed a power cable for a third. Appalling. Do not do this.
parellichick he cut the plug off to run the wires out the lid and then rewired the plug so he could get the pump to work. Do you not understand how wiring works or are you just that dense?
Kevin Hockenberry I’m a professional civil drafter. I draw a lot of schematics. I’d like to think I k or enough about electricity to identify something idiotic when I see it. I also get sent lots of safety incidents about people doing stupid things like this. He could have lifted the lid and run it under that. He severed a power cable and rewired it. It’s now log fit for purpose. Not being in it original state, and now a short / fault risk.
