  • After a year of use I thought I would put together a quick review of the Husky Centerline TS Weight Distribution & Sway Control as well as a demo of how to install.
    The install is pretty simple and I walk you through the process.
    My thoughts after a year with the WDH is a big thumbs up! It does what it claims & it does it well! Sway is not an issue & the weight distribution really helps.
    Pros: 1 - No sway... period
    2 - Weight Distribution really helps keep the vehicle level
    3 - Easy to install
    Cons: 1- Noisy when turning
    Overall I give this WDH a thumbs up!

    Make sure your pins are threw the holes of the torsion bars and not in front of them. I lost one of my bars that way. I pull a Laredo 280 RB with a F150 3.5 Eco boost . I made it to Alabama on one bar! It held the truck up! They are rated for 600 pounds a piece . My trailer weighs 7,000 pounds empty

      Luis Reviews my fault .I didn’t have the bar in far enough . Slide the bars in first before latching the trailer. The bars need to be loose to tug on them to make sure the pin is threw the hole and not in front of it. Great hitch!

      Thanks for the advice. I just got one and would hate for that to happen.

      I like mine but they can be noisy. I put some grease on the rest area and it does not hurt anything that I can tell. No sway. I'm pulling and imagine that is about 9000 loaded with a Max tow gmc Sierra.

    Thank You, they told me how to use it, but who remembers. Mine are very tight since they are new. Do the side to side loosen up with use. I am not that strong.

      Walter Pendleton Glad the video can be of help. I haven’t noticed if they have loosened up from side to side over time but they aren’t bad.

      @d50erock1975 5 лет назад +4

      They stay tight, that's what provides the sway control. The friction of the 2 sockets the bars slide into is key to providing that needed sway control, if they loosened up their would be no sway control and would create a dangerous situation for sure.

    When hooked up and turning it make grinding, squeaking, and other loud sounds.

      You hear the metal rubbing at low speeds, not an issue but not silent either.

    I just drove my small toy hauler from San Angelos, Tx to Vero Beach, FL. and I fought the 18 wheelers all the way on I-20 and I-10. With the Husky hitch, there is no telling what would have happened to me on the road. The 18 wheelers push air out in front of them and push you out toward the outside lane. My only issue with this Husky is the grinding "metal on metal" sound, which got really loud and almost sounded like some prehistoric animal roaring. Looking for suggestions on minimizing noise, such as applying lubrication at critical points.

    • @luisreviews6412
      @luisreviews6412  Год назад

      So the 18 wheeler thing ids normal when they are driving in your lane. When it is a two lane road and they are coming in the opposite direction the Husky does very well to minimize it. On the noise, unfortunately a lot of it is normal however you may want to double check that it is level & properly installed because if it isn’t it can put additional strain and be louder.

      I have the same Husky TS System. The problem is that if you grease it where the bars are making that noise it reduces sway control. Makes a bunch of loud popping and metal noise when pulling into a service station. It's so annoying that I'm looking into another system in the future. Other than the noise its a great hitch

    Is this one of those that has to remove the bars from the A frame saddles to back the RV up?

    I have the same hitch and a 2018 Chevy Colorado 4x4 Z71 and we pull a 2019 Coachman Pilot 19FBS with no problems at all this hitch so impressed me... NO sway and my truck is strait as an arrow my trailer loaded weights 4800 but we don't fill it that heavy

    • @luisreviews6412
      @luisreviews6412  6 лет назад

      I agree, I have been very impressed with this hitch. A proper install and having it correctly dialed in is key. My two biggest concerns are addressed with this hitch... sway & weight distribution.

    In my case, one bar is lower than the other. The right one I can almost put in without the tool, the left one I need to raise the truck back-end. On the trailer side, everything is aligned perfectly. Would I need to use the shims for the hitch to change the angle of the bars..?

      I honestly don't know, I am experiencing the same problem with my new truck I just bought a couple of weeks ago. The new truck is taller so the WDH needs to be adjusted, I am just going to take it to the RV dealer to have them set it up.

      How does it look when you put the bars on in the opposite order? So you place the right bar on the perch 1st. Also are both perches set to the same height? Is the front A frame of the trailer possibly warped?

    How much does the RV that you pull with that truck weigh? I have a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado and I'm looking to buy a RV. No doubt I need to get this type of setup. Just curious as to how your truck handles the weight as far as pulling and whatnot. Thanks for yjr video!

      I tow a 2017 Coachmen FE 257BHS, roughly 5,500 lbs empty, I estimate 6K loaded. I am in N. Tx, mainly flat, however I go to hilly areas on trips... not mountains just hills. With that said I have a 3.42 rear end, does well on highway, screams every once in a while on hills. It does the job but won't be winning any towing wars. I wouldn't want to take this in to the mountains though. Given the payments on this truck are ZERO I'll take it. F.Y.I. I'll be posting a video on what upgrades I have done to my truck to get a nice tow vehicle setup give the truck I have.

      Check your max payload versus the tounge weight of the trailer you want to tow. If you have 1200 pounds of payload and a tounge weight of 800 pounds that only leaves 400 pounds for the driver, passengers and anything in the bed. Tounge weight is generally between 10 and 15 percent of total trailer weight. Hope this helps.

    • @johnharper2016

      Not even close. Husky Centerline is decent WD & Sway Control hitch. Cost around 4 or 5 hundred $$. Pro Pride is completely different animal and costs $2,000.00 plus $$$. Some folks swear by there Pro Pride and will not tow with anything else. However, a properly installed and set up WD & Sway Control hitch by Equalizer, Husky, Reese and a bunch of other manufacturers will do a fine job. Key is proper set up.

    • @luisreviews6412
      @luisreviews6412  6 лет назад +1

      I will do another video for that, in the mean time the best I can tell you is do the same process but backwards. The key is to lift the rv a good bit to remove the tension and then take the bars off. Don't be afraid to go really high to get that tension off the bars.

    • @lorrainefritch8391
      @lorrainefritch8391 6 лет назад +1

      Yes! Please do a video of how to unhitch from the trailer. I can't find one for the Husky Centerline TS anywhere on RUclips. The RV dealer went through it too fast at the walk through. The next day, I had a retired professional big rig driver helping me remove it and even he could not get it off-- too much tension. Guess I'll have to go back to the dealer.

      Lifting the hitch high was the key! On my second visit to the dealer, the guy raised it way higher than I would have. Later that afternoon, I was able to get it off. I would love to see a step by step process of unhitching with the camera on a tripod and the lens right up close to the equipment.
