Magic. I stumbled across this video recently. I remember this wonderful jazz combo from listening to their tapes (!) in my car on long journeys in the 1980s, trying to 'indoctrinate" my two young daughters into the joys of some great jazz! Just magnificent musicians!
Here’s the thing: I have been a fan of Spyro Gyra since1979, I remember when the albums came out. I went to the record store to get them. I still have the full albums on my iPod. I have seen the group in many variations through the years. I remember reading the liner notes, when Steve Jordan played drums for them! I have no criticisms of this medley! The fact that almost 40 years later, the music still holds up, and people stil want to heart it speaks volumes
If there was a last day as described in our holy scriptures, Jay you will be summoned to herald the new beginning by God himself.Thank You for creating new frontiers in artistic contribution to the world.Your music is just so infectious its haunts you for weeks, even after a single listen.Joe Hamilton
This is such a cool comment to me because I was taught that any music that wasn't sacred hymns, classical music, or had drums was satanic. It's absolutely absurd to think that this does not convey a positive message to the listener. Thanks for what you wrote.
Wow, awesome video indeed. These guys are around for decades and still play vibrant and with so much pleasure. One of best fusion/jazz bands with strong latin-twist
With such a kind of wonderful music this world is a little bit more beautiful. Thank you so much Guys. I was there, when you where playing Köln in November 2008.
20 years ago I took my best bud to The Blue Note,NYC. It was Spyro Gyra for best bud's birthday.Early show. Great show.We walked out with them. Very respectful guys. They greeted best bud before their set for his birthday.
the duo Schuman -Beckstein y like Fagen and Becker ..the flavor and taste of their music never disappeared..i cannot say the same thing about Lee Ritenour and Dave Grusin or Larry Carlton and Terry Troter ..
I have never been a fan of "medley" bits to be honest - either play the song or don't play the song - but this is still at least a piece of them when they were at their best (those first few albums) for those who aren't familiar
I know those old albums so well, that frankly, these live versions are a little disappointing...you can hear that Beckenstein has gotten bored to tears playing the same melodies over and over, so that he slops his way through the cool licks he used on the original albums and only takes off during the solos. Still a great player, but he should know that fans will pick up on these things.
I LOVE their music. I've listened to them for 40 years and I NEVER get tired of them. GOD BLESS! THANK YOU for sharing your talent and gift of music.
On this pandemic times, when home could be a type of jail Spyro Music takes me to another so much better place. Thanks so much Spyro Gyra!!!
Morning Dance is one of those super rare songs that can actually change your mood! Great band!!
Nothing like a MORNING DANCE to get your day off to a good start - super band!
My ears are clapping wildly!!!!!!! I miss this kind of positive upbeat musicianship!!!!!

I've had the pleasure of seeing them several times. Once, when Dave Samuels was with them. One of the finest groups of musicians on the planet.
