These AMD mini PCs are really good. The thing holding back the GPU performance is the ram speed. Imagine pair this with 7500mhz or even to make it possible a 8500mhz ram this could be your only PC you need.
Noise is what puts me off these mini PCs. I would prefer something slightly larger with a high quality fan and not the dollar store fans that OEMs often use.
Have to disagree, sure ram speed plays a small factor in this, but what holds the GPU back is the fact its running at pcie 4.0 x4. Also, at a certain point, there is a sweet spot for the AMD's infinity fabric is such a diminished gain it wouldn't be worth it. Not sure the 8945HS's best fabric speed, but I know the 7000 series shown great gain at 6000, but not much gain at 6200, and rarely you'll see a placebo affect at 6400. Already hearing rumors that 6600 is the same story for 9000's but its vapor until proven. If the bus can't handle it, it won't pass it to gains to the gpu either way.

@@FrankelysHernandez Yeah the M.2 to Oculink adapter he installed. The Oculink connector is not really meant to be used as an external connector like they are doing with this adapter. I don't get it. Why use a miniPC with an external GPU? That beats the whole point of using a miniPC (a computer that is small, light, power efficient and quiet). What we really need is the graphical horse-power of an external GPU, like an RTX 4060, inside the miniPC. Hopefully that will happen within the next couple of years. Probably the successor to the new upcoming 890M iGPU.
I would say for versatility. One of the main benefits of a mini pc is it’s size for applications like a living room media pc where space may be minimal or you don’t want an eye sore of a pc but you might want to take it to the desk for some more intensive gameplay.

So if you set the mode to Performance mode then should tdp be kept at auto, rather than boosted up to the max 54W? Or would it be better for gaming to set it to 54W and do the Performance mode change in addition to it?

It's precisely what I did with the previous gen of this same pc, mine has a 7840 in it instead of the 8945. It's great and I don't have any issues running games on it since I make use of the oculink adapter to hook up a proper gpu to it (in my case a 6750 until I upgrade). Will not go back. There is no point to building a tower pc for me any more.
@@Rocketman0407 I'm plenty happy with this and the footprint tbh. Have it hooked up to 4 monitors and it does everything my tower pc did and more while sucking up way less energy. Kinda wish they'd just sell Mini PCs with a full pcie slot. Beelink GTi Ultras series had one, but it seems they never released it, ASRock also has their own version (Also hasn't been released) but it looks pretty terribly done with a pcie extension cable hanging out of the box.

@@drinkingincanada i never got the notification for this but anyhow, the product link on the minisforum site has the pc breakdown showing the interior and there is no mention of a possible sata drive compatibility...although i do see where you see the mention of it by clicking on the plus sign of the diagram, but the diagram doesn't show any brackets or connections of how it would fit given that it would sit on the bottom but that is where the motherboard sits so i'd be curious to see how well it would fit or if it was simply just an error their web designer made. i'm guessing they expect you to DIY it on your own?🤔
Can you please show emulation? Like if can handle 4K with 60fps on systems from previous generations? Can you test Resident Evil Outbreak 1 and 2 and Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles would be great. These games are far more demanding than Auto Modellista and gOD of War.

So if you set the mode to Performance mode then should tdp be kept at auto, rather than boosted up to the max 54W? Or would it be better for gaming to set it to 54W and do the Performance mode change in addition to it?
Does the CPU come with Liquid Metal applied or has that gone out of style for Minisforum?
Answered my own question. It does indeed come with liquid metal. I really should NOT have opened mine up. Best to just leave well enough alone with these guys.
Which would you recommend the UM780 XTX or The UM790 Pro Thinking of getting one next month
Browsing for minis..What would say a decent mini pc for web, youtube, and netflix ?
for proxmox this device is good?
Not bad, not bad... Now let's see next.
I just ordered this to replace my home lab hp gen 8 proliant enteprise behemoth of a server, that lives in the garage cause the fans are so loud! With this i can just set it next to my NAS. I hope all the hardware works with linux/proxmox
Is there Windows 11 Home or pro preinstalled?
@ETAPRIME The keyboard floating in the background is pretty cool, could you reveal the manufacturer and name?
The link to buy doesn't go anywhere
Would this be a great console running steam deck os?
is this worth the extra price? the UM790 pro is much cheaper and has the same iGPU and a slightly slower CPU.
Hardware does not support Virtualized AMD-V with Vmware workstation or Hyper-v when I tried.
Can i charge for um690 buy usb4 ??
Please make a video about how to build this rtx 4070 oculink setup
Did you need to DDU or anything? Any weird driver behavior w nvidia driver after using built in radeon graphics?
Thank you for the the video, I ordered one for my Son. ETA could you give the parts list for the eGPU in the video, Thanks
They have a egpu or dock buy it from them is good
The next time when i'm buying a new PC, it will be a Mini PC because Mini PCs are the Future of PCs and gaming with a nicely lower prices than on normal sized PCs! 😊❤
eehhh
It's precisely what I did with the previous gen of this same pc, mine has a 7840 in it instead of the 8945. It's great and I don't have any issues running games on it since I make use of the oculink adapter to hook up a proper gpu to it (in my case a 6750 until I upgrade). Will not go back. There is no point to building a tower pc for me any more.
Bad take
@@Latchfpvyou can just do Micro ATX build. More flexible. In the end though it will be all laptops I think
@@Rocketman0407 I'm plenty happy with this and the footprint tbh. Have it hooked up to 4 monitors and it does everything my tower pc did and more while sucking up way less energy. Yeah you could say it's 'just a laptop' however I'm able to game at 1440p and 4k depending on what I feel like so in the end, does it matter? Not to me, busy over here playing games.
They have dual fan 4070ti super now
Definitely can achieve sff 4k rig
What about the Asrock Deskmeet x600 review?
Seems perfect for ryzentosh
is it me or the 8940hs and 7940hs are basically same?
Kinda wish they'd just sell Mini PCs with a full pcie slot.
Beelink GTi Ultras series had one, but it seems they never released it, ASRock also has their own version (Also hasn't been released) but it looks pretty terribly done with a pcie extension cable hanging out of the box.
Interesting that my rtx 4080 scores 138,060 through Oculink with a 7735hs, I would of thought the GPU throughput would hit a wall and it wouldn't go much higher once you got to the higher end gpus.
I know it’s cool to make the mini PC perform like a full size gaming PC, but I’m not sure it’s all that cost effective.
Could this be used for a ark survival ascended personal dedicated server ?
what's the maximum ram for the igpu?
UM890 ships with DDR 5 5600mz but it runs at 2800mz. There seems there's know way to change ram speed. Seem's odd when they avertise DDR5600 and it's locked far as I can see.
dpc-latency?
just picked this 890 pro up with the gpu dock really confused on what gpu to get under 500 amd or nvidia any help appreciated
intel arc b580 is good. $250
Hello! Is Windows activated out of the box?
yes
got my atom x7 and waiting on minisforums deg for 3080ti I used back than to make a simple new work slash gaming desktop home ;)
kinda pointless to review 8000 apus, there still the exact same at the 7000 series.
Not really, no
@@Will-sc3hw if you care about the AI, then yeah they are not the same, but if not, then yeah you, are right
Does this support RAID?
Does it come with an included cable to connect a 2.5ssd drive underneath the motherboard?
There is no room for a 2.5 drive, usually pc's that give you 2 m.2 ports don't have a 2.5 option.
@@GeeksAndGamingNetwork Not sure why on their product page , on the device image right above the Product Specification section there's a mouse over plus sign and that is what it says sata 2.5 SSD. I guess they never noticed their error. 😮
@drinkingincanada all the reviews I've seen on it where they tear it down don't show an option for a 2.5 drive and they don't even mention if it's possible...
often times company product pages that have variations of the same pc tend to copy and paste some details especially when it's products coming from china...i would look on other storefronts like amazon or newegg to compare product details. They tend to list things correctly most of the time...also, user reviews tend to mention if it does or not.
@@GeeksAndGamingNetwork Amazon definitely isn't reliable for product specs. Newegg is.
@@drinkingincanada i never got the notification for this but anyhow, the product link on the minisforum site has the pc breakdown showing the interior and there is no mention of a possible sata drive compatibility...although i do see where you see the mention of it by clicking on the plus sign of the diagram, but the diagram doesn't show any brackets or connections of how it would fit given that it would sit on the bottom but that is where the motherboard sits so i'd be curious to see how well it would fit or if it was simply just an error their web designer made. i'm guessing they expect you to DIY it on your own?🤔
HOLA PODRIAS DECIRME CUANTO PESA EN KILOS CON CAJA
please review FEVM FA880 mini pc. thanks!
Can you please show emulation? Like if can handle 4K with 60fps on systems from previous generations?
Can you test Resident Evil Outbreak 1 and 2 and Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles would be great. These games are far more demanding than Auto Modellista and gOD of War.
this more compelling than the ROG NUC with 4070-cheaper and more powerful GPU. while the setup is a bit janky, the GPU is replaceable for upgrade or when it becomes defective
Can you tell this company to provide us with a mini pc that supports 4 RAM slot up to 192GB plz
No, you didn't need more than two slots
3D Mark can't recognize a 780M iGPU. That's pretty sad.
