  • We're making a roguelike in Godot! In this video, we show you the progress we made in 100 days. We went from a single screen to a dungeon crawler. What do you think of the result?

My feedback is it looks fun but it is very messy visually. There is so much stuff happening, so many weird shooting patterns and odd shapes, colors, trails... The screen gets really really noisy, like, one if the most noisy games I've ever seen but I think that's sort of the vibe you wanted? I remember some disco funky looking Gameplay in previous videos. I love this channel but I don't think I'd be able to enjoy the game as it is :-( let me clear, the game isn't ugly it's just reeeeeeally busy and noisy and its hard to focus on anything going on in the screen, at least at first. I wouldn't mind playing a demo in the future to provide better examples.

Honestly the gameplay looks tentative to play myself,
also has a nice system of progress ( nice items cards)
and the art that you added is awesome (characters, darker background, etc )
If have to add any feedback personally think that you still could give a small improve to some of the effects, a little more sparkling or something, but im no artist to tell and is good as it is for now
Awesome work and dedication from your part !!

I love the look of the game. It's starting to look like a side scrolling dungeon themed RPG 'shooter' with rogue like aspects.

Wow, the improvements are so good!
I especially like the autoscrolling level, because it makes it more shmup-like :)

Today is day 1. I have been away from my game project because stuff so I started a smaller project to get back into it. Got some Kenney assets and began testing if the basic mechanics are fun. Seems good so far, and it has a fairly unique (as far as I know) main feature, so I'll aim to have something good enough to put up on itch as an early access pay what you want (or nothing) if not this month then the next for some feedback.
Your quick and to the point shader tutorials will come in handy so I guess I'll do a binge rewatch when I get to adding effects.

Game looks so good, wp 👍👍. Can i ask a irrelevant question ?
Do you know how can i stop a shader. I dont want it to disappear but it will keep showing the last frame like it freezed. When i use get_tree .paused it doesn't stop the material shader. Do you have any idea how to do it ?

      You can set VisualServer.set_shader_time_scale(0)

Is that Fresnel on the water? How do you do that on a 2d canvas shader? freaking cool, mates

    • @PlayWithFurcifer
      @PlayWithFurcifer  2 года назад +3

It's all faked of course, using two scrolling textures and mapping the results to color and distortion :D
We might make a tutorial if people are interested

I like the overall look of the game and everything looks really high quality. You have talents.
    Well done!
One thing though, that I feel is transpiring from your devlogs, is that you are not sure of what game you want to build.
It feels a mix of genres but they look bit disjointed.
You are putting a lot of effort on effects and technicalities, and that is important but perhaps you should invest some energies in actually form a more concrete idea of what you want to build.

      Thank you!
We currently try let the game find its way and follow whatever is the fun part about it. There is no way i could predict how this game developed with our current experience so we just embrace it.
