Recovery, rescue, restoration-- The stuff that we wanna see! Of course, we all love the camaraderie and events... and of course, ACCOMPLISHING LUNCH! 😃😃
5:00 I'm rooting for Meaghan to swoop in and buy it while you guys are talking yourself into it. She seems like she needs a split window bus project. Let's see how it turns out.
I've been a subscriber forever and have watched every video. Ive enjoyed em all. I admit, some more than others, but I never realized what ya'll were missing till now. Adding a good looking gal to the mix balanced the video out perfectly, Lol. Im glad you guys saved the bus. That primer is ugly as hell. Looking forward to the build. Thanks so much for sharing.
After months of wrenching on my beetle I was hit up by a friend to rescue his old bay window so he doesn't see it rust away anymore. Thanks for the great content and inspiring me to keep living the VW life.
D-White is AMAZING! 2004 model, built on 1/2ton chevy pick up frame, uses all the mechanicals too. It's my 3rd one! We call it the Rolling Meat Locker because those 2 AC's will freeze you out!
After seeing some of the other rescues I was surprised to see a real nice candidate not many of those left. After I watched I went out in the garage for a while Peace
This is what you all do best! A bunch of buddies working together, having fun, and bringing these beauties back to life!! This is the content I live for😊
I never miss an episode of your channel. Congratulations on the bus, for me it is still a dream.. but what good is life if there are no dreams to fulfill? VW LIFE THURSDAYS BABY !
Wonderful split window bus, down here in Brazil is almost impossible to buy old busses anymore, they're being restored and exported to so many countries, prices of junk busses are too high, not reasonable values... Nice video.
Absolutely! Man I love it , I’ve got about 33 cars , and one bay . Had to sale my split bus . Sad but brought home a split bug ! Love that content . Wished I could save them all ! New sub !
Yes, I do enjoy this sort of content. That is why I watch you every week and am a Patreon supporter. Jake, that is a great shirt. Is that one in the store?
Congrats ! Welcome to the '66 splitty owners club . Great shell to start with, too bad its not a walk thru, but neither is my '66 EZ Camper conversion. There are great options to create a camper interior though. Just view as many non walk thru campers as you can to get ideas. I got quite the chuckle out of the JALOOZY window comment ! Yeah, ya gotta have at least 5 of those to get the full potential outta the shell. I have 3 on the solid side and the 2 most forward on the fold open door side. ....... behind those two is the closet and that has a fixed window. Be glad you have a fresh floor allready done in the front.......its a pain in the ass that I dread doing some day.
Finally!! An attractive crew member!! Welcome Meaghen. Terrific find y'all...the split window guys. Looking forward to the progress on this and the Fastback. I know you search process is top secret but in this part of the country you gotta just cruise the woods. We'll hang with you.
G'day, She looks like a solid bus. Myself I'm doing a 67 split window so I'd love seeing any restoration work on buses or bugs for that matter as I have a 63 bug as well. So thanks for sharing guys ✌️ Peace from Melbourne Australia.
Restoring old buses n bugs inspires people to do theres guys great stuff in a real time frame to you it could feel dull but to newbees they watch every sec to learn , keep up the great work guys short n sweet works 👍👍👍
Congrats on scoring that splitty!! This is a new project to work on that will bring a lot of good times getting that thing to drive, stop and turn. I wish I could get another project!
My aunts are a little to old, and all my uncles gone, but goleeee i love the chanel! That is some sweet split! I wish i had the garage you all have, it would be filled with VW's! Thanks Jake and Gary (Jakes GF too) for another great episode, i love that 66!
Hello Axle!!! There was an additional ‘66 the same year as Ziggy. It was short lived, a parts bus for Ziggy. But a guy in East Texas got it back on the road and camping!
Another awesome vid guys. Wish I had the space and the access to the aircooled VDubs you have but that’s just not possible here in old Jersey. Lovin the VWLife
Awsome score always enjoy your videos ! Im sure you could find the parts you need maybe even a so42 interior, just gotta let your fingers do the searching, like me I looked for a few months and ended up scoring NOS front and rear fenders for my 72 411 .
Yes! The stripes and OG Velvet Green stay. We will see what is under the pale yellow primer, if it is just bare metal, we will be working on our faux-tina skills!
@@VWLifeVW It looked like there was a finger recess in the sheet metal below the hatch which went away when the finger catch was added to the latch. Something for sure has been changed at some point.
Never ever kiss and tell. We are in a holding pattern as to what the plan is for this 1966 SO42. Right now, we are leaning on locating as many SO42 pieces as we can for it, and bring it back to life as a tin top camper.
So...that is not a "find" or a rescue. At all. You going and paying probably top dollar from a guy IN the hobby is not super interesting. He bought in in CA and had it shipped, spent a bunch on parts...even though it is missing all the stuff thay would make it interesting to a restorer....just anither craigslist abandoned project. With a redone nose. Sure you're paying out the a$$. And no original camper pieces...why are you there lol
We run General Grabber ATX, 27x8.5-14. Hankook RA08 185-R14 are great as well. DO NOT RUN any tire that starts with a "P" as in P205-70-14. P is a passenger car tire and a 71 Westy weighs a lot, and is top heavy to boot!
She's a beauty! And the bus isn't half bad either! 😂🤣😂 Great rescue!
THIS RIGHT HERE.

That Spitty is bootiful!!
Thank you Tony!!!

Yes, this 66 gonna be fun! I was out swapping the 15" for 14" wheels on it today!
I don’t miss a episode! I like your build updates and work days. Oh and your Volkswagen rescues are awesome. Cheers!
We do too, rescues are the best, until we start running out of room here at TJK HQ to store them!
5:00 I'm rooting for Meaghan to swoop in and buy it while you guys are talking yourself into it. She seems like she needs a split window bus project. Let's see how it turns out.
That woulda been AWESOME!
@@VWLifeVW Maybe next time. :)

Hopefully I'll get this bus!!

Way to go!!! Save the Bays!
The Astro is a good van, eh? Underrated.
Love the Astro Van

more rescues please! love every episode, but the rescues and group work sessions are my favorites.
Very nice that you do not have to start at square one!

VW LIFE THURSDAYS BABY !
Yes indeed!!!
How much was he asking for both buses?
Nice find! They’re still out there! Looking forward to see it coming back to life. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Rescued a splittie!👍🏻👏🏻🎉Add the sticker. As always I’m tuned in and can’t wait to see this one come along.

Great find guys. Hope you get it back on the road soon 👍
Nice find. Looks like my 65 minus the metal repair 🤣😂 love your channel. Stay safe down there with all those storms.
Thank you Tom! Yes, that was the real kicker, the rust has been repaired!

Congratulations!!! Love that you guys going to work on a bus !! Keep up the great work on your RUclips channel. Big fan
We are pretty excited too! So much more fun working on a Split Bus!
More parts from Gary’s Auto Parts! Great video Little Dude!
We added some parts and then we had to take some from the stash to make this Bus go!
I can’t wait to see the finished product!!
Congrats !

Nice to see another great video, another VW saved
Great content guys👍
Wow! What an awesome find! Looking forward to the future vlogs!❤
Thank you! Around here we have to decide what gets done first. Gilbert is top Priority at the moment. AND sourcing an SO42 kit for the 66!
G'day,

Kevin! From the land of Oz! Are your VW's down there RHD?
@VWLifeVW yep our cars are built correctly with the steering wheel on the RIGHT HAND SIDE. 😳
It reminds me of Bert from sesame street 😂 Cant wait to see what you guys do with it!

Thank you for joining us!
I can't wait to see what happens with this one!! Good Times!!
What would’ve been the last split y’all rescued? Was it Ziggy?
Hello Axle!!! There was an additional ‘66 the same year as Ziggy. It was short lived, a parts bus for Ziggy. But a guy in East Texas got it back on the road and camping!
Great score!!
LOL Tommie B
Funteresting is a FUNNY word
I’ve been wanting to see what’s under that yellow primer for years.
Great looking bus. Looking forward to the build.
Beautiful bus.
Yes….more of this type content.
Good lookin splitty, can’t wait to see what you blokes do to it !!

nice job.
Nice #Combi , nice color I will call Grassy ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Velvet Green Grassy!
A slong as I can get the Bearded Wonder to make a new bumper sticker for it

NOS fenders for a 411 I would label as Unobtanium! Good job!
@@VWLifeVW thanks ! I was very surprised when i came across them for sure.
What happened to this Split? Is it still around?
Nice you guys are lucky.
Just a question that’s been asked before but I don’t know the answer.
What happened to Matt Jackson?
He moved on to better things
Velvet Green hope you keep the stripes
Yes! The stripes and OG Velvet Green stay. We will see what is under the pale yellow primer, if it is just bare metal, we will be working on our faux-tina skills!
Awesome, guys!
Thank you for watching!
1:05 That is the most american cup I have ever seen, how is that practical?
How much did you pay for the bus?
Awesome job guys love the videos
Glad you like them!
You lucky people !
Nice catch.
Yes, I cannot believe it had been 8 loooong years since we brought home a split window Bus.
Was the pop top an option with the SO42?
Yes, the little fiberglass top as was the big side opening Dorm Mobil too I believe.
@@VWLifeVW I think the Dorm Mobile is a completely different camper conversion. I've also seen them on Land Rover Defenders.
Very nice!
Love this stuff!! Hey, what happened to the Type 3?
FastBack Monday's are still happening, Stay Tuned...Same Bat Time, Same Bat Channel!

LIVIN the VWLIFE!
Looks like a 67 rear hatch maybe? If so wild that it's the right color but wrong year.
I think its a late 66, the latch checks out to be a 67, but when dealing with something this old, who knows!
@@VWLifeVW It looked like there was a finger recess in the sheet metal below the hatch which went away when the finger catch was added to the latch. Something for sure has been changed at some point.
Right how much then ?
Bit curious 😂
Who is the bus for ?
Never ever kiss and tell.

@@VWLifeVW No worries just curious as prices in England for a project are around £20k .
Will be watching as usual .
Goodluck
I would be interested when it is a running bus :)

More vid’s!
A very nice bus fellas. I bet it cost you a pretty penny!
Let's say I had to raid the piggy bank!
loves this viedos!
Thank you for watching! Please tell your Aunts and Uncles about VW Life!

I think I need to buy a split.. lol
Yes you do!!!

Hey guys, what are the best and correct tires for a 1971 Westfalia? Would appreciate you help!
@@VWLifeVW Thank you for that info. This helps a lot
