Thank you for your comment! Leon was definitely a classic. Underappreciated. And you're right about those great elements, but I would add that very few movies since have been able to catch that lightning in the bottle.
EVERYONE!!! 😡😡😡 Everyone to cover his corrupt, not-so-sorry ass from the serious "one-man army"... (If you watch the entire movie, you'll know why I used the word "serious".) Go watch it and enjoy!
I was 16 in 94 and when this movie was released it was a Cultural phenomenon one of those all time Great movies like Heat that when it comes too it others movies try hard to emulate but never manage to beat or equal.
Your problem is corporatism, not identity politics, films nowadays are made by companies rather than directors. Your point about audiences being offended is really shoehorned in, what about Leon do you suppose would offend progressives? Really the absurdity that you fail to recognise is that meanwhile you're the one calling this film problematic, for Matilda's romantic interest in Leon.
Late to the party, but, Its a fantastic movie! Great summarize at the end, shows a utility approach to movie's! most movies can live forever on memes internet, Wife is about to watch it 1st time Saturday
It's on the list...well one of my lists. I have a list of movies I want to do a solo-breakdown and others that I want to have a discussion style video with friends. My next video is a first attempt at the roundtable style.
@@SanctionedBuffooneryabsolutely in fact Heat was released 1.5 years later to be exact .. I think you could even tell by even looking at her .. In Leon she looks like just a kid .. and in Heat she looks almost like a teenager .. Brilliant actress ❤ I love her work
thank you for the post and review...at that time there was no other movie that was able to put so many great elements together.

Identity politics is profitable in hollywoods eyes and it’s turning out not to be. The directors are absolutely pushing it too.
"I cannot sanction your buffoonery."
I love your reviews because I really don’t like new movies either.

Do BATMAN 89
Portman was in HEAT before this film.
Leon came out the year before Heat, if I remember correctly.
