It was very interesting to see the guys on back refilling the seed planters. Never seen that before. The tractor doesn't have to stop on the side next to a planter truck to fill it up as often. It just keeps going, filling it up on the go.
Gotta love the red tractors with AC not working! In summer '13 i got to incorporate cover crop seed in my underwear because the AC crapped out in our quadtrac
Jason - If you ever get to the Hollandale, MN area it is a huge vegetable growing ground. Onions and carrots mostly. It is an old swampy lakebed(peat soil) that has been tiled out for drainage. The smell of onions throughout town is divine.
Have you guys ever made it up to the Red River Valley area on MN & ND boarder? It has large fields, full quarters and sections typically. Flat ground with corn, soybeans, wheat, and sugar beets. Mostly newer equipment. Very common to see multiple peices of equipment (mostly at harvest) on the same feild.
Probably has more to do with how well the wing levels the field. With the roller behind, the field needs to be very good. Certain operations, whether it's first pass or ahead of the planter, you can get away with more or less overlap.

Josh has been producing some videos for the channel this past year. He covers some cool machinery and it allows me to spend time filming during the busy season.
I counted 7 bottoms on the plow with the Magnum 270, not 6 (@ 1;50). I counted 8 bottoms on the plow with the 9130, not 6 (@ 2:09) as mentioned in the video. . A little later (@ 2:37 )I count 7 bottoms on the 9130 followed by the Magnum 270 with 8 bottoms (@2:56.). At 3:20 the 8 bottom is back on the 9130, so this must have been filmed over a period of time?
The 7231 was typically offered as a crumbler but the muck ground needs to be sealed to keep the soil from blowing away so this one is set up a solid roller.
It was filmed in April of 2023. Many of the videos are filmed a year in advance. I have at least 5 years worth of videos that have not been published yet.
OK Bud, don't think many of us have ever heard of "Josh" from "Tractor Chasers." So where's Jason? Anybody ever heard this guy on Big Tractor Power? I never have. Who are you, where's Jason, why have you taken over this channel, if something has happened to Jason start talking. Did you just assume we wouldn't notice???
Josh is a very good friend. Almost all the New York videos on the channel have been filmed by Josh. Josh produces a few videos a year as a guest host to let me spend more time filming in the busy season. I appreciate his help. The video released just before this on Tuesday was produced by Josh on a 9520RX spreading fertilizer. The next video on spring tillage posting soon will be back from me. It’s a big help having Josh produce a few videos.
They do not need to in muck. It would dry it out of its worked too much and cause it to blow away. They want to flip and and loosen it to put the onions in.
They are making two passes to work the seed bed. Part in the plowed ground and part in the harrowed grown to really smooth out as the cross the entire field.
🤣👍. Thank you the help Josh. I messed up on an Oliver plow on an MM G1350. The farmer told he was pulling a 6 bottom and I did not count because he told me 6 and it was sunset. Back then I narrated in the field. Well his dad switched to a 5 bottom half way through the day because 6 was pulling hard.
Looks like 7 and 8 bottom plow?
Exactly!
That is a 8 bottom!
My count too. Mines only 5 and i pull it w a case 1896 95 PTO hp
New math……..
Can’t count
Cool to see how onions get planted👍😄 thanks for the video👍👍
It’s always exciting to feature veggie crops. Stay tuned for the harvest.
Well be cool to see Big Tractor Power come back and film the harvest
You can count on it 😁
@bigtractorpower good I do wonder for onions do farms use other types of plows cuz doesn't seem like much left after harvest
I really like to see videos with smaller 4wd's like 9130 on this video 😎👍
Hey thanks for showing us this operation! Enjoyed watching!
That was very interesting. Would like to see more of how that onion planter works.
Thanks
They are pretty similar to an air drill. They are very precise because of the onion seed being so small.
@@staggerinstanton56 thanks for the reply 👍
where you at jason,,,,,,,, 7 bottoms and 8 bottoms dude
Good looking dirt right there very rich

Jason glad you got some help been in the dirt myself you still have your tractor
Yes I have the 4786. It’s a fun tractor. I just bought a 38ft FORD disk last weekend to take to Rantoul in 2025.
Hello everyone great vidéo and great equipement for planting onions
Thank you for watching.
A lot of passes to get that soil ready. Interesting to see and know.
That seems like a common theme with veggie farms as a whole.
Great video, so we'll look past the plough faux pas 👍👍👍
Best onions in the country!!! Right there in NY!!!! I know cause i lived in NY for 40 years then moved to a better place!!!!
Anywhere other than right? Except California
Great video. It is great to see how other vegetable are grown.
I like getting a chance to feature veggie crops. 👍

Odlicni ste. Pozdrav iz Bosne I Hercegovine.
Good way to break a door glass. Been there when the a/c pump wont engage.. cheaper to fix it right away. Sometimes time doesn't always allow it..
That looks like some pretty nice dirt. Worked up real good.
It is muck ground. It is great for raising onions and cabbage.

Person running the challenger must like taking years to finish their work with that overlap
That disc and roller will make more than one pass over that field, I’m not sure he’s concerned with overlap
@@gliderider7077farm hands get paid by the hour and some make pretty decent money!

The soil looks good compared to the sand we get here in Australia
Good brother 👍

Yes 😂

Nice
Thank you for watching.
Good looking iron!
It’s a nice mix. Always a good day to catch lots of machines in one field.
@bigtractorpower I've been flowing you guys for a long time now! I live in Ohio and love tractors. Hopefully, someday, our paths cross.
Good video.
Thank you Frank.
Awesome! Wheres Jason?
Right here. Josh fills in from time to time. Lots of corn planting to film right now. Josh’s videos let me focus on field work.

Great video 👍👍
Thank you. It’s always fun to feature veggie crops.
Great video, however you have the bottoms on the ploughs counted incorrectly. Regards from Down Under.
One was a 7 bottom plow and the other one was a 8 bottom plow.

Wonder what it looks inside those cabs?? Running with the doors open?
Dusty and dirty as hell

I am here. Josh films in NY and PA for the channel. He makes a few videos for the channel each year as well.
@bigtractorpower oh okay thank you for his work to help you out jason
@@bigtractorpowergood to see your alive and well, just saw where someone said you died last night .
Is that plow setup correctly? Stay safe.
Yes. The tail wheel is bouncing from the speed it’s running.
@@bigtractorpowerit is not bouncing from the speed, it is swiveling because the gauge wheel is down and they are plowing shallow!
I could not see in the video, are you guys planting sets, seeds, or transplants? Nice set up though. We also grow the onions but we raise the sets.
I did not film this one but I believe they are using pelletized seed.
I'm quite used to hearing Jason's voice
Josh has been producing some videos for the channel this past year. He covers some cool machinery and it allows me to spend time filming during the busy season.
Are onions more profitable to grow than corn and beans?
That’s a good question honestly. I suspect the veggie farmers make pretty decent money as far as ag goes

Filmed on two occasions to get all the footage. You're correct on the plow bottoms, I miscounted.
