You can tell that he just copied art from all his favourite side-scrolling platform games in the arcades at the time. Aside from Wonderboy, Rygar, Green Beret, and even Ghosts and Goblins are all represented here. And all used as if "any coloured blobs would do". Maybe they were meant to be placeholders, maybe it was meant to be a mash-up, maybe he just didn't care... Only he could tell us!
